If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??

Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
NO
It was a SD last time time.
That means Oscar only has to fight the same fight and will get the verdict setting up the 3rd one. Fact.

Mayweather worked out ODLH in the middle rounds by countering over his jab, don't you think Mayweather will have an easier time now he knows what tactics to use ??
-
Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
I didn't see Mayweather throw anything over the Jab...Oscar just stopped throwing it.
-
Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
Any tactic changes Floyd makes Oscar can too. So the "fight" will be very similar
If Oscar didn't think he could beat Floyd the first fight wouldn't have happened.. same goes again methinks

Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
Definitely not an upset for me. I'm one of the many boxing fans who believes that ODLH could(and should) have won that first fight.

I would deem it an upset, yes.
-
Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
ICB is asking if you'd consider it a "BIG" upset.. meaning it's OBVIOUSLY an upset considering if the contender/underdog beats the champ, ITS and upset..
so yes, it would be an upset.. i'd say a moderate upset.. you have to factor in that DLH generally speaking is not as "good" as Floyd, making it an upset in the first place.. secondly that he is older and past his best days (still a great fighter though obviously)..
We all know Floyd talks a big talk, but he said he was on his "C game" the night of that fight, and that the next one will be no problem if he brings his A game..
The fight lies in Oscar's hands.. it's tough to figure because Floyd really was doing the bare minimum to win, and very few times did he do more.. You can say if Oscar jabbed his way in he would've been more successful, but Floyd would've eventually adapted.. so it's a tough call..
Upset? yes.. Big Upset? eh, definitely an uphill battle for Oscar, so a moderate upset.

Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
Definatly an upset, but I don't see it is a BIG upset.
People forget that Oscar has a HUGE size/strength advantage on PBF and is an extremely skilled fighter with quick hands. I think people underestimate the accomplishment it was for FLoyd to beat DLH

Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
Agreed, it was a close fight. I hope ODH wins because I do not want to see Hatton beat up by Mayweather again, I much prefer if it was ODH this time.;D

Ok let me just play Devil's Adovate here.
Most of you will say that Floyd is the best p4p fighter in the world.
Most of you recognise that Oscar is stll good enough to give him a really tough fight and in fact wouldnt consider it a big upset even if Floyd lost.
So why the hell do so many people moan about him taking the fight
-
Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
It would be an upset in the sense that Floyd lost his 0 not so much that Oscar beat him....
IMO Floyd will be his own downfall...If he keeps up these outside endevours, and trying to live the celeberty life it will eventually catch up with him....I don't care how much he trains, the condition he keeps himself in etc....Floyd will buy into his "I am unbeatable" act one too many times and it will bite him in the ass....Maybe not in a rematch with DLH but eventually...Unless he is smart and only takes one or two more fights then calls it a day

Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
not a big upset by any means. considering most people consider ODH past his prime he was doing a good job and was winning. I thought the stamina went and it cost him the fight. I want him to win but I'm not sure he can overcome that fade he's shown in several fights.

Miguel Cotto. Mayweather should be fighting him no more excuses.
(I put this on the other thread - fighter you hate, when I should have put it here)

Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
It was a split last time! I have no problem with Mayweather taking the fight so long as it's not as boring as the first.
-
Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
Yeah it would be an upset. I don't see it. Floyd will learn from his mistakes and won't lose. It'll be similar to the 2nd Castillo fight. Close shave the first time, clear winner the 2nd.

Anyone who thought that fight was close is retarded, not new or naive in the ways of scoring boxing fights, but retarded.
-
Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
I think it would be an upset at this stage of DLH's career, can't see it happening though.

I'm inclined to agree. Wasn't that DLH didn't do well and win some rounds... But at the most 4 or 5, and it was very plain to see he couldn't have been given the nod.

Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
I don't see how it was possible to give him over 4 rounds personally.. the reast FLoyd clearly outpunched him... HBO was out to lunch on this fight, same with the Hatton fight.

Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
I'd consider it an upset. I mean Floyd is ranked #1 P4P in the world while DLH isn't even in the top 10. I thought the 1st fight was close but Floyd deserved the victory. If Oscar had of stuck with the jab he could have pulled it off IMO. I think Floyd has to be the favorite going in so a DLH victory would definitely be an upset!

If Oscar wins it I hope he fights Cotto next because Floyd ain't

Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
I'd consider it an upset, by my observation Mayweather won almost every round of the first fight. I thought the SD was way off base.
Like always I am starting to look forward to this fight even though I swore I would never pay to see them fight again...

I agree who ever wins needs to fight Cotto next. If Cotto can deal with the winner of Margarito/ Cintron & Floyd defeats De La Hoya again we should hopefully get Mayweather/ Cotto in early 09. Wishful thinking!

Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
I totally agree with Taeth it wasn't that close on my scorecard either, i had two different scorecards when i watched it, i believe it had it 8-4 or 7-4-1 in favor of Mayweather, and as for your comment Bruce you can't be serious you actually had ODLH winning there fight ??
-
Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
I really don't think that it would be an upset, it would be semi-surprising. I think ODLH is getting old and he's always been somewhat overrated, but I can't deny the fact that he's always fought the best, he's an elite talent with a gold medal amateur background, and he's still a naturally much bigger man than Floyd. I don't see anything changing from the first fight though.

Because as capable as De La Hoya still is, he doesn't deserve to fight Mayweather. At least the first time he had a title and it was at a weight Mayweather had never explored. Now De La Hoya has no title, he's already lost to Floyd, he's coming down to fight him at welterweight or a 150 catch weight and he hasn't beaten anyone significant in the past six, count 'em SIX years. Mayweather, Mayorga, Hopkins, Sturm, Mosley, Campas, VARGAS.

Re: If ODLH Beat Mayweather In The Rematch Would You Consider It A Big Upset ??
Excellent post Liquid. IU would consider it a huge upset. Oscar is old, lost their last fight and hasn't won a big fight for a long long time. And the weight will be a factor. Pointless rematch.
