Couple sue previous homeowners for not telling them the house was haunted
Devil's in the detail of 'haunted' house sale - Telegraph
Apparently they have a really strong case as an exorcism of a young girl was carried out there in the 1970's and they wern't informed by the previous owners, meaning the previous occupants will likely settle out of court.
It so sounds like they found out about the exorcism though and are now fabricating stories of ridiculous paranormal activity.
They claim their car spontaneously combusted  that green slime appeared on the walls overnight and that they could hear clanging chains and moaning at night.
Seriously I mean they could at least make their bullshit case sound half plausible, and make up realistic 'evidence' of ghostly activity. Clanging chains and green slime? It sounds like they got their ideas on hauntings from watching Scooby Doo.
I wonder if they claim a giant marsh mallow man tried to destroy their home one night as well

"The local papers at the time said a girl had been possessed by the devil and had been taken to the bishop. Nothing helped, until Pope John Paul II prayed for her."
The frightening thing is, a vast majority of people believe stories like this because 'they would like to think there's something'
That's the most common answer you get when you ask someone if they believe in life after death. Some poeple can't differentiate between what they want to believe and what they really believe.
Ono's fact of the day right there ;D

LOL
You really need to write a weekly current events piece.
I've been checking books out of the library about ghosts and hauntings. I am finding that most of the stories are about people who died in the 1700's or take place in 100 year old houses. It's very disappointing. I want to read about 80's through 2008.

I think that's your answer right there. The houses are hold, and hence the floor boards creek, woodworm has probably made holes in the walls creating draught pockets and funny noises. The boilers are old and fucked making the pipes bang etc.
There is probably mould in the walls giving off strange smells etc.
New houses I guess don't have those problems hence less sightings.

Re: Couple sue previous homeowners for not telling them the house was haunted
I read a case last semester about a court which confirmed that the old owner had to pay the new owner because he did not tell him his house was haunted.
To the court it was irrelevant whether the house was haunted or not, but the main focus was that the old owner had claimed it was haunted in a popular magazine. Then he sold the house without telling the new buyer. This adversely affected re-sale values. The court pretty much said that since it adversly affected re-sale values and that the old owner had been advertising the spirits previously, he should have, in good faith told the potential buyer.

Shortly after reading the article Bilbo posted I went to check all my other favorite websites and found another article about the same case... actually it's the same article now that I read further into it lol
Here is a cool link to make up for the re-post I just made

I love that site mate, was your greatest ever find I think, I log on at least once a day. This article, my gnome discovery, tree man and a load others all from that site. The forum is the most unitentionally funny read on the whole internet :D
As for Taps, I think they are largely a joke, a team of plumbers completely untrained in science, using equipment they are not trained to use, for a purpose it was not designed for.
Having said that they are far far better than our crappy British version where we send in teams of psychics and other related loons.
At least taps try and take a scientific approach even if they don't really have a clue what they are doing.
Some good evidence on there though, some of it is pretty convincing.
By the way BG you really should start a blog on this stuff. Tell us about the latest Big Foot sightings and the other goings on in the cryptozoology and UFO worlds.
I'd defintiely read it :)

Actually I myself wouldn't mind spending the night there JUST TO SEE if there really IS something. I've always been the "I don't believe it til' I see it" type. But if there's any possibility of me finding out for sure something like this is real, I don't mind taking that chance.

I'm a hypocrite because I absolutley don't believe it and mock those who do but I sure as hell wouldn't spend even 5 minutes in such a place on my own:rolleyes:

Because I'm a scaredy cat.
Honestly I can make myself scared at any time of the day by thinking the girl from the ring is standing behind me.
Just typing this now has made all the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and I'm looking round like a scared girl,
I'll have to sleep with the light on now and listen to something funny just to take my mind off it :(

Re: Couple sue previous homeowners for not telling them the house was haunted
Well, since I am bored I will tell a story for you Dilbo.
I lived with my uncle in Maryland in 92' and 93'. The town was Reisterstown and the house we lived in was the oldest house in those parts. It was a 2 story, old old house. Story was that it had housed slaves in the 1700's, and several people were hung back in the day:(
Anyways, my uncle and aunts told me that it was haunted and relayed stories to me from over the years; as my aunt had lived in the downstairs section for years. I really never went into any of that haunted nonsense, but I soon learned different. My uncle was out one night and me and the dogs were watching t.v. and I swear on my mothers life the window blinds went up and down by themselves. The dogs went crazy and started jumping and barking at the ceiling. Every hair on my arms went straight up; I sh#t you not. The blinds went up and down 3 times and then it was over. When I say up and down I mean, you know how blinds have the little plastic piece that you twist and it opens or closes them? That's what I meant. I called my aunt all freaked out and she just said " We told you so".
About a week later uncle Joe was cooking spaghetti and Italian sausage and called me into the kitchen; which is when the dogs started freaking out again. I went in there and it felt cold and when I looked at the sausage sitting in the pan, they were rolling back and forth in the pan and did so for a couple of minutes. Trapper, the labrador, was screaming and all his back hair was straight up.
Also, down in the basement where the supposed hangings took place; late at night on numerous occasions it would sound like people were walking around, actual stomping or something. Very creepy and actually made me sad for the people that had suffered way back in the day.
This isn't a made up story; it happened and you guys and gals can think I lost my sense or whatever, but it is what it is. I never told anyone except my mom about it.{She said all that devil music I listen to scrambled my brain:-\}
Talk sh#t to me but beware:D

Yeah, I watch them from time to time if they are at a cool location. and because I think the blonde is hot but only when seen from night vision.
Same with T.A.P.S. actually, I only watch the shows that have a intresting location. So even if the show is crap I've at least been giving a nice tour.
The worst show yet is Paranormal State. Each show is a half-hour long so by the time they get going it's over. I believe they have them on YouTube at the moment if you want to check them out.

As a Marylander I find that quite a tale. Still, it's another 1700's based story. I find these less scary for some reason. I guess because a ghost dressed in pantaloons is laughable.
My cousin, the one who visits me quite often, lives in a house that is 250 years old. We have experienced odd happenings there. I will post some pictures when I get a chance. I think I have some on my hard drive and will take some more the next time I am there.

I believe ya mate.
Usually I'd laugh at this stuff, but I've kinda come to belive in the past couple of years.
My Dad's parents house was an old station. It was used as a place where old horse drawn loads and that could stop, for a rst for the horses and an overnight stay if they wanted. This was during Britains rule over Ireland.
So because Britain didn't allow any Catholics to have any power it belonged to some English guy that was a friend of the local landlord. The land lord was a tyrant, a real bad guy and in the 1800's or something his grand house was burnt to a cinder. That house was 10 mins or so from the station. The station was attacked, rebels took it and there was a slaughter and the are became bandit country. The English weren't bothered taking it back. The land was distributed between the locals and somehow my family came into possession of the station house and a few dozen acres around the place. However, poverty stricken many of the locals shut up shop and headed to America and Austrailia. My lineage bought up this land and amassed a pretty decent farm. My Great grandfather then hooked up with a lady from another wealthy Irish Catholic family. They were pretty wealthy back then , as wealthy as Irish could be really.
Anyway, although the family has a good rep for generosity there was a little jealousy and after a while this pisreoig thing was found on the land. A pisreoig is Irish black magic and it was seen as pretty serious.
Anyhow, the story goes that my Great Grandfather, in order to keep the land had to go fight in the somme. He survived the Somme, came back and suffered for 20 years before dieing of lead poisoning.
All was good in the family til about 15 years ago another pisreoig thing was found. That year my Uncle, Grandfather and Grandmother died. Now my dad isn't superstitious, but my Uncle and Aunt are and they blamed it on this thing.
Anyway thats just background. One day my cousin who was 17 at thetime ran into my uncles house, literally in floods of tears she refused to talk for days but when they finally got her to talk she admitted she had broken intomthe old house and claimed to have seen my Uncle.
Pretty crazy stuff.
I think I believe in some stuff now.

I believe you, Legion. These ghosts are evil spirits. So in reality there is actually no ghosts but only evil spirits pretending to be ghosts.
Take it from me. I've been into paranormal things.

Don't know why but I find that really funny.
Like all these evil spirits get together and say 'Let's scare the shit out of these humans that live in this house!'
And another goes 'Gtreat idea, what shall we?'
And the first replies 'Let's pretend to be ghosts! That will scare them, here take this chain, and I'll do the green slime, wahahahahhahah!'
Do you not think we'd think they were scary if they just glided around as evil spirits? They have to pretend to be ghosts in order to frighten us? :p

Here is one of the more outlandish episodes of Paranormal State. I rolled my eyes and chuckled my way through the entire episode. I think it was the 3rd or 4th one they aired.

You know, I can't help but believe that very thing. Even though I've never had a paranormal encounter, I can't help but believe that any spirits around me would be evil. If not evil (as in wanting my ass dead or gone), it would have to be very poultergeistic, wanting to scare me very badly. :-\
I would actually like to witness something like this one day, just so I can prove to myself that they are real, plus then I'll be able to say I've had an encounter. (I wish that now, but if it ever happened, I'll probably wish I'd kept my friggin' mouth shut :-X).

The worst show I've EVER seen is "Scariest Places On Earth". They don't show anything but the people's face screaming right in front of the camera. The show is as full of shit as an overflowing ceptic tank.
At least on TAPS they TRY to show a ghostly image (something caught on camera, etc.). But on SPOE they show nothing. Just the people standing around screaming. :(

Yes that one is horrible, BUT, I think it's main audience are children. Seriously.
Oh, and the voice that introduces the show sounds like Bobby from King Of The Hill.

Evil spirits do exist Bilbo. When we die, we die.WE do not become ghosts. The only explanation that would be rational enough for me to explain these ghosts phenomena is that they are evil spirits. Besides in the bible, it is forbidden to consult these spirits (not ghosts).
However, I do not discount the fact that some people create their own fear of ghosts out of shadows or things they can't understand/can't see(e.g.creaking of doors) though there may be no actual paranormal things that are happening. For short, people sometimes claim that there are ghosts around them just because their doors are creaking.;D
When I say paranormal things, I mean it to be literally paranormal, not just a figment of scared and ignorant minds.

Re: Couple sue previous homeowners for not telling them the house was haunted
I wouldn't hold it against anyone who didn't believe a word of what I said. Those moments I experienced in that house are as clear in my mind now as they were when they happened. Part of my conscious still tries to find rational, scientific explanations for what occured. Some weird electrical occurence, or the sausages being in the pan frozen and the heat made them jump when they were starting to cook, whatever. But what I can't explain is how the dogs went berserk and seemed not only scared but in a rage; and the cold I felt or my hairs standing straight up.
When I hear stories from others about their "encounters", I still scoff at them, though I shouldn't. It's one of those things that you really do have to be in front of and experience for yourself; and still one might not believe others experiences. All I know is, when those blinds went up and down by their seemingly own volition, and the dogs jumping towards the ceiling, I was paralyzed with fear and I'm not one who scares easy.
I just hope if Bilbo drops dead that he doesn't make a point of finding my residence and f#cking with me to the point of driving me to suicide:-\
