I must confess I've never seen him in action, but what does everyone think his chances are of beating Oscar De La Hoya?
Right now he will put up a good effort and end up stopped mid way....years ago it would have been a good fight...Forbes was tricky in the ring...I would still have favored DLH of course but it would not have been such a mockery....
I root for Forbes in this one because he is a genuinely nice guy with a family...Daughter about 6 months I think....Glad to see him get a nice little pay day...How he was ever considered for this is beyond me....
Close to none...but the same was being said of the opponets of lee, diaz, and others lately.
I think he has no realistic chance fighting Oscar at 154 lbs.
He's a very slick boxer however and could certainly still be a factor at 140 lbs. I'd fancy him to give all of the titlists at 140 a tough fight.
But's a former superfeather weight world champ and far too small to be able to put up a realistic challenge to De La Hoya.
He got manhandled and beat by Grady Brewer after all.
Still he's no mug, he schooled Demetrius Hopkins and got robbed and then got a win over the former red hot prospect Bojado so he's definitely got talent.
I think this is a good fight for him though. He'll make a lot of money and get some publicity and then be able to move back down to 140 where his new found popularity will hopefully land him a fight with one of the belt holders.
I always liked Forbes but gotta go with Bilbo here, Oscar's too big and too good. Even at 130, 135 he wasn't a great fighter, a good one but not great.
Anyway can anybody see Forbes beating ODLH decisively enough to get a decision? He's not gonna stop him, no way, and it it surprisingly ended up a close give or take fight we know who's getting the decision.
I personally don't think he has much of a chance since he's jumping so high in weight without any tune-ups.
But since the two "Contender" fighters (Vera and Bundrage) have scored two huge upset victories, if it were to happen with Forbes, I wouldn't be as surprised.
Do I want Forbes to win? YES! Do I think he is going to win? NO!

He hast got bad defensive technique so tuck up tight , be alert and negotiate his way into the 2nd half. I f he can do this he can start thinking about winning. He should be able to outspeed and out work Oscar if the Golden boy fades like he has in almost all his big fights in the stretch .
Box fight Oscar - Box when he wants to fight and fight when he wants to box . Just work on dragging Oscar into the late rounds and then give it everything he has. The passion he showed in the final of contender may not be enough but if he wants it more than Oscar he can make it interesting .
I would fucking love it if steve beat him, it would shock the boxing world, piss off so many people.
HBO, oscar and all of golden boy, Flord and all of money mayweather promotions lol and the millions of oscar fans who don't even know who forbes is. this would be the one wish i would have this year.
I'm really happy for forbes to get this shot and hope he is getting a decent coin for this fight. I was really really gutted for him when he got fucked over by the judges in his fight with D hopkins...

There is no way Oscar is losing this fight, either in the ring or on the scorecards. Nothing is going to ruin his big payday against Floyd.
All Cotto fans are dreaming about a Oscar losing...if Oscar loses, how could Floyd not fight Cotto instead of rematching Oscar? This will cut 6 months off the timetable for Floyd to fight Cotto.
Forbes is FULL of pride and desire but physically this is a pure mismatch.He better soak his gloves in ether.If he has the "nerve" & Ability to beat The gown off the Diva and does pull this off (That would be sweeeeet), he would be fighting his next bout at the Nebraska state fair.

Sturm was much bigger then De La Hoya though. I like Forbes but he is just at such a size advantage and he's not exactly hard to hit. Plus he isn't made to run away anyways. Like Bilbo said, Grady Brewer was able to manhandle him I severely doubt he can withstand De La Hoya unless De La Hoya just completely blows this off which I doubt.
It would be the upset of the decade.
I had never seen Forbes fighting , but if was in SLW and moved up to JMW , i have to say that he maybe not going look good as well , he going feel very heavy........:cool:

Too be honest I was not overly surprised with the two contenders winning. I did actually back Andy Lee to beat Vera but expected it to be his toughest fight, it proved to be the case and I realised after four rounds that Vera was going to cause the upset. As for Bundrage I actually picked him to win as Ouma had increasingly shown an unwillingness to engage and I thought Bundrage had a chance of a close decision win. In this case however you have two proven fighters and anyone who has seen them or checked out boxrec.com knows what they are capable of. So there should be no surprises here. De La Hoya should win after all this guy was hand picked to be decent preperation for Mayweather. De La Hoya won rounds against Mayweather and fought competitively. Forbes would have lost widely to Mayweather so there is your answer. De La Hoya to win 117-111 or by stoppage in Rds 7-10Quote:

Forbes chances are totally the oposite of James Toney = SLIM.
If the fight had of been at 147 i think people would of given him half a chance of at least taking it to the scorecards.
But at ODLH`s ideal weight - no chance, de la hoya to have him out of there in the 2nd 3rd of the fight!!!
