One of our local amatures in action last year

His name is Shannon as you will see. He's had a quite a few fights and done well. Rated highly in our state NSW. This was his first fight back after some time off. He's in the blue corner - the taller of the two. He then after this fight had to take a few months off due to a rib fracture sustained in training. I haven't been to the gym for a month or so due to injury so not sure what he's up to now. Hope you enjoy

Hey bikersk , he doing good man , but he have to take more advantage his reach , try using more his jabs constantly.......i enjoyed it .....;D

Thanks for the rep mate.He's pretty tall for a Welterweight is'nt he?He has fairly good around boxing skills.He looks alright concidering the time you said he had off.Would you say he's NOT a inside close fighter?And he'd prefer to dominate a fight from long rage?Just wondering if he is any good up close and throwing any good down stairs shots to the kidney and ribs.:)

No probs. Yes he is tall for his weight and he's been boxing for nearly 10 years I think on and off so he's pretty well rounded. He can fight inside ok and regularly spars with the bigger hard hitting guys, actually pushed one guys tooth through his lower lip one day. He also was sparring with another guy whos smaller (64 kg i think) but the state champ in training for this fight night and stopped him in sparring with a shot to the body. He moves well and has long arms so uses that to his advantage and in this fight the other guy was pretty strong and threw a lot of big punches in close so he stayed on the outside a bit and did a good job moving in and out and got the win. I have a video of the other guy from our gym, Arron who fought on the same bill but it's not much to watch. He was the state champ and was up against a young fellow with only 4 fights. Arron is a real nice guy and doesn't like to hurt people and took it real easy on him and lost on points even though he could have ko'd the guy if he wanted to. He didn't come back to the gym much after that and I havent seen him for sometime now. The trainer also quit and we went for 2 months without one.

Same weight and age as myself. He's obviously got some height. He needs to use that more because he could have made this fight so much easier for himself.

Watching again, I'm surprised at how tall he looks.
Maybe it's the camera or the ring size, but he looks pretty tall for seventy as he's nmot a slight fella.

With a quick jab and uppercut he could be dangerous.

Yeah he's pretty tall. I'm about 6ft and he's close if not slightly taller. He can be dangerous and has hurt much heavier guys in sparring and often spars bigger guys, that's how he got his broken rib..

I'll be back to the gym late this week early next week to begin to get back into it and get rid of my new beer belly. :beerchug: Hopefully he'll be there, he's had some personal problems lately i hear and the training situation at the gym is not stable.
