Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Just looked at the card for this one tonight.
To be honest, I've never seen Estrada fight and from what I've heard, I haven't missed a whole lot. Whitaker certainly isn't anything special. So I was pretty lukewarm to the card tonight.
However, those looking for the next great heavyweight might want to tune in before the main event starts, as cruiserweight Aaron Williams fights on the undercard, facing his toughest opponent yet at least on paper in Andre Purlette. I've posted this before but I am very big on Aaron Williams and while he's a cruiserweight, I believe him to be the best young heavyweight out there. He's 21, I would have thought him to grown into a heavyweight by now but he hasn't. Still, he's talked many times about aspiring to be a heavyweight and for those who haven't seen him, I think they'll be impressed. Posted pages about him before here and I always look forward to getting the opportunity to see him fight.
Last time I saw him was back on FNF when Manfredo came back and he still looked green in that fight but put his opponent through the ropes which was cool. Here it is.

Thanks to Mick for recording it come in here I'll send some rep your way.

You wouldn't be VD if you thought otherwise. If you really think that a guy that dropped a decision to Jeremy Williams is going to knock Williams out then I just don't know what to say.

Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Haa, B.J Flores in Studio About David Haye....."Im glad he's gone". I Bet.
Ohhh,Purlett just got KTFO.....sort of

Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Ha, that was awesome. Deadly. Williams not as active but looked much better this time out but DAMN, huge KO. Big things from Williams I've been expecting since the beginning, I imagine he just came on a lot of people's radar
Didn't even get all the way through my sandwich when he finished it so I couldn't give full attention. Looked good slipping punches, nice movement on the outside and was able to space his punches perfectly on the inside which is what got him the KO. Very nice.
Nice prediction VD.

Believe it or not. I actually meant Purlette was going to get knocked out. My mistake. I'm not going to edit my post. Williams is a good prospect.

Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
I normally watch this on sopcast but no stream today ?
I picked the same Williams and Whitaker by KO. Mount Whitaker is now a career low 239lbs, the same as Estrada which is amazing considering he is 7inches taller. If he has trained this hard he must be serious and thinking of this as a good opportunity.

Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
When does this fight start ?
-
Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Love those little counter sneaks from Williams. Anyone seeing that Jesus Chavez return fight Vs. Daniel Jimenez...
awwww damn it Joey Spina .....crickets

Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
-
Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
SPina should win his fight, Whittom is a journeyman. Do you know if Jesus Chavez won his comeback fight yet.

Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Glad Whitaker got rid of that dumb arse "Goofi" name given by Goosen. He looks ready to roll.......Whats up with the weight lose ??
Spina gets hit on like a lonely brides maid
-
Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Whitaker will make Estrada all goofi when he punches his lights out ! I think Whitaker does not want to be a journeyman and with the heavyweight division as it is he wants to make a statement so has trained hard and in top condition for this one ! He came in 12lbs lighter for his last fight and now another 21lbs lighter !
-
Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Geez, I didn't know frickin Spina was fighting tonight. I see he's been demoted back down to 6 round fights.
Neither of these guys have any defense, and they just look like the Rock'em Sock'em Robots. :jabbing:
Did you see frickin Spina blow a bloody snot rocket on Whittom's shoulder earlier in the fight. What a pig!

He was in pretty decent for 1st fight back.Only saw a little bit but Jimenez was tall, lanky and mobile, kept Chavez on end quite a bit, Chavez bored in willingly.......waiting.....96-94 twice 97-93 Chavez. It'll be an up hill struggle I think.

Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
I thought the experience of Chavez would get him the win, I doubt he will get one of the Lightweight belts back though. But he will certainly be a tough opponent. I heard the winner of Chavez v Jiminez would fight Katsidis. That one should be a war but I favour Kats

Chavez is a nice guy but The Lights are getting Stacked in talent . At this point, I think Kats would take him out pretty convincingly.

Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Has whitaker managed to hit Estrada with a solid punch yet ?
-
Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Uggh.......Somewhere Eddie Chambers is thinking of himself as the second coming of Joe Frazier......:-X
-
Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
David Estrada is an UGLY MOFO!!!!

Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Estrada can't punch. Whitaker is shot. Boring ass fight
-
Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Said in the opening that I hadn't seen Estrada fight, soon realized I had seen him fight upon realizing the nickname, then it became clear why I didn't remember the name. Boring fight, I hate those type of fights where one guy is moving forward but not working and the other guy is moving backwards and barely working.
Shouldn't say barely working but it fell in such a pattern that the whole thing just got boring. Williams definitely stole the show as I expected.

Oh, it was was boring.
I don't like Eddie Chambers so what must I think of Estrada!
Daxx is right about him being ugly. Estrada should get proactive to back him. In the split screen they can show a before and after of a proactive treatment on his face.
David "Proactive" Estradaaa!
-
Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Neither of these guys are going anywhere in the heavyweight division. Estrada will get beat when he takes on a top guy Iggy would beat him !
-
Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
I dont remember Whittaker being that awful. That fight was no different from 99% of all the heavyweight fights recently and that is why neither guy can change the division for the better.

Fair play I thought it would be a bit weird that you would pick Purlette over Williams. Estrada I can see but he's boring but yeah, Williams is one of the more talented prospects in boxing.

LOL I was trying to find the worst picture of him I could....Did you see Estrada last night?...He looked broke as hell...Like a crack head from New Jack City...That is a Ugly MOFO!!!!.....Not too mention the pimples the size of Mt Whitiker....
Shannon always disappointed me...he had the goods to be one of this era's best...Skill,,,Power....His build was always impressive as hell...The guy looks like he lives in a gym....It was his output that screwed him....I always wondered how he would have ended up if he was able to put out 75-85 punches a round....
-
Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Hell if Briggs could put together 75 punches in a FIGHT I would be happy.
I wish Wlad fought him, it would have been a very impressive looking KO and I think everyone likes seeing Briggs suffer his "asthma attacks"
I looked at Estrada a couple times on boxrec and heard about him in the Olympics but I was like why can't a dude that big punch worth a damn? He's a solid build, he's got some muscle but he punches like a little girl.
There aren't many PUNCHERS from the US in the heavyweight division which is a main reason that there are 0 US World Champions in the division today

Isn't that the truth....I was serious though about him having all the goods but the output has always been his downfall....

Re: Friday Night Fights: Estrada - Whitaker
Spina makes Duddy look crafty, was dissapointed that the other guy laid an egg in the last round.
Talked about Williams in a thread I made, he looks good.
Didn't even bother to watch Whitaker-Estrada fight, sounded like another ridiculously boring heavyweight fight and apparently it was.
