Although details are sketchy, the fight is said to be tentatively scheduled to take place this September.
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
And 2008 keeps getting better!
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
I wonder what they'll call this?
Maybe Big George can fight the winner?
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
For the good of boxing, I shouldnt watch it, but I am sure morbid curiosity will get the better of me.

me too ! haha hell it might even turn out to be a doozy ?
One thing is 4 sure , it isn’t gonna be as bad as that Ibrogimov - Klitchko bit will all embarrassingly sat through. damn that was everything boxing shouldn’t be.
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
as much as i like both these once great fighters i feel it really shouldn't happen, i'm sure it'll get great interest due to there names and past history with plenty of footage from there previous battles...................you can just see it now the heading HOLYFIELD V TYSON III.......ARE YOU HUNGRY FOR MORE
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
Silly fight this is really. I can see Holyfield stopping him though, Tyson is WAY past it and Holyfield has just been a bit more active compared to him.
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
Sad...and Actually I see Holyfield winning easy. Since Evander has even recently gone the distance with a championship caliber fighter and Tyson hasn't even gone the distance with a "B" level fighter in more than 10 years...
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
I just ask myself why ??!! Mid-as-well put larry holmes on the undercard.
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
I agree with the writer...
This fight will generate more interest, buzz, fanfare and excitement than any single Wlad Klitschko fight..
If Tyson comes in healthy, focused and inshape with his head screwed on tight I can see him really hurting Holyfield, a 41 yr old Mike Tyson still hits and damages as hard or harder than as anycurrent heavy including Klitschko...
Who will train Tyson? and can he be patient and work behind Jabs and combos instead of waiting for the one punch?
The unrealistic side of me always wanted Mike to finish with dignity, even though he is a trainwreck he is still charasmatic and charming despite his extreme faults a millon to 1 shot I wish him to look good, inshape and Claim the title before hanging it up with grace... Never happen but hey in this division as it sits crazier things can and may happen...
Tysons 2 biggest assets are his power and chin and thats more than this current crop has
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
Another big fight to look forward to.
I like both guys but if we are honest Holyfield wins this one easily .
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
i didnt think there would be alot of positive response, i guess if this threads has so many they should just make it.....i mean i think tyson needs the money and attention anyway.....but what happens to the winner?
title shot...rofl
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
a Cokefeind washed up Iron Mike wont last 2 rounds guess it makes him some $$$ for his next fix tho
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
JT I thought you had sense, you are talking about a fit and focused Tyson and we have not seen that this century. I love Tyson but it really is sad.
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
I don't think the chances of them getting hurt is as bad as people make them out to be. I mean there both old and its not like either of them is fighting Wald or some other top ranked fighter. Besides Larry Holmes fought until he was in his fifties.
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
I have to be consistent.Looooong time Holyfield Fan.He should be retired and Tyson is so far past his quality fighting days they are but a memory. This is an "event" and I'll pass :-\.That worst thing that comes of It Is It will convinve the "winner" that thay actually have a viable chance ay regaining there former glory.............enough already!
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
This fight is as good as it is bad. You're bound to get an action fight for at least the first 3 rounds. Holyfield is a workhorse but his body has betrayed him. Tyson has all the mechanics of a monster still and could probably still be formidable, but his mind has betrayed him. I saw the replay of Toney-Holyfield a couple weeks ago and, truth be told, I don't know if Holyfield could have beaten that version of Toney in his prime. Holyfield honestly didn't look bad in the first few rounds. His reflexes were slower, but his power was still there and so was his chin. Holyfield's biggest problem was that shoulder. He couldn't get that left arm up for an effective jab. Now the shoulder works, but what if Tyson punches him in it a few times? What if Holyfield uses his third punch?
If Mike can get his mind back to the early days, he destroys Holyfield. If he doesn't and comes in looking for a whallup of a shot, Holyfield plays paddy-cake with his face for a half hour. This match-up is impossible to predict because the only certainty is that it will be a spectacle. If the promoters know what they're doing they'll load this up with a huge undercard of hungry guys with something to prove to take the possible sour taste out of the fans' mouths before they can taste it.

Not sure about that. Tyson was surely physically and mentally prepared for the first Holyfield fight and he got the hiding of his life.
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
Tyson hasn't been in his prime since 88 and hasn't been able to properly get it together since that time. Do people really think he will get it together for this fight ?? i doubt it. But maybe the money can inspire him to train hard and maybe the revenge aspect might help him as well. But i can actually see another DQ win for Holyfield.
Re: Tyson-Holyfield III in September?
Tyson lost to McBride FFS!!! How on earth is he going to beat Holyfield who at least has been competitive over the last 2 years. Unless it is a 3 rounder, he is getting beat badly. This would be as sad as watching Ali get beat up by Holmes or Berbick.
