shyt i can smell it, gomez over cotto :(
gomez has been fighting bigger guys and taking good shots, and it seems like cotto hasnt been taking gomez seriously. Id really hate for cotto to lose to gomez but its been the year of the upset and this seem to have upset written all over it. Does gomez carry more pop below the weight his been fighting, can cotto take them or will there be a suprising twist and gomez is the one hurting and pounding cotto?
HMMM I gotta say Julius I am feeling the same thing here...Actually I think it will go one way or the other...Either Cotto just goes in and ends this within 3 rds or it is a long painful fight for Cotto who will end up going home without his belt....nothing in between....Everyone may just be overlooking Gomez a bit too muchQuote:

I think if Cotto has any trouble it's going to be the type of trouble he had with Oktay Urkal as opposed to the type of trouble he had against Corley or Torres. Against Urkal he was a little to aggressive and didn't allow himself room to operate and the fight ended up dragging out.
I still don't think that's the case tonight, the difference between these two is immense and Cotto isn't the type to come unprepared or unfocused.

I think this fight could be more like Cotto-N'Dou a tough fight, but one that Cotto wins most rounds in.

Did being bigger help Paul Williams against Quintana?
Did Cotto not show heart when he was hurt, and knocked down by Torres, only to come back and stop him?
Did he not show determination when he had his arm broken in 3 places, and was told that he wouldn't be able to start any training for a fight for 18 months, only to fight 6 months after the accident?
Did he not show his skills, and ring smarts, when he switched gears up in his fight against Mosley, and outboxed the boxer?
Do you honestly think that Cotto is going to let Gomez ruin any chance he has of getting the big fights?
Will Gomez give him a good fight? Of course. I know Gomez has heart and determination, and he will give it his all. Gomez has a pretty good chin, and this fight can go longer than some people are saying, but Cotto's sole focus is to win.
Gomez can talk all he wants about how strong mentally he is, but Cotto is probably the most mentally strong, and focused fighter there is. And like Cotto said at the press conference, he doesn't need to say what he is going to do, he just does it. And he will!!!
If by some miracle Gomez pulls out the win, I will give him his props, I'm not above that, but I don't see it happening.

He is gonna pot shot Gomez while taking away his body. Gomez will be competitive for the first few, but Cotto will wear him out.
Well cotto is yet to really face a natural welterweight yet so im a little cautious about saying cotto will win. Im kinda getting a little bit of a kostya tszyu vs phillips vibe. Phillps was use to fighting bigger guys and kostya didnt take him as seriously as he should of...im thinking this could be an upset.
gomez is the bigger guy going into the ring, but lacks the experince and skill, cotto should win but it'll be a long hard night, gomez has gained in confidence from his last couple of outtings and can take a decent punch
i feel a points win or late stoppage for cotto..............thats if cotto has taken the fight seriously ( keep hearing how he hasn't but he's never seemed that way ) if not a upset could easly happen
