BCD V Johnson was a FOTY contender imo,tremendous fight and clash of styles but wtf was up with the fans booing BCD? He tried to box for a few seconds at the end and they booed him at the end and when he was celebrating.WTF? Do they know ANYTHING about boxing? WTF were they watching?
Anyone that thinks that fight was a robbery is insane. Casa v Cruz = robbery. Huerta v Diamond=robbery. This fight was CLOSE. There was no clear cut winner and it could have gone either way.

I had Chad by one round as it happens. I always felt that if it was close Chad would get it anyway but that's not Chad's fault. Maybe the crowd boo'ed because the judges had it 8 rounds to 4.
I think general boxing fans just want to see a tear up rather than an exhibition of skill, and Dawson was the one who was avoiding the tear-up......which imo was a very smart thing to do.

They are what you call armchair fans El Gamo who don't really know much about the sport, and can't appreciate the sweet science. They expect boxers to stand there just slugging away for entire 36 minutes of the fight, if i was in Dawson's shoes it wouldn't bother me one bit, because the crowd are not the ones Dawson fighting against, and there not feeling what Dawson is feeling so they can stick it where the sun don't shine. If they can't appreciate the sweet science of boxing maybe they should go watch gypsy bare knuckle fighting that might be more at there pace.Quote:

They're fight fans, not boxing fans, and they were booing becase he wasn't fighting. Long before that point I was wanting him to get knocked out too.
It was a great fight, watching glen johnson continue to pressure throughout and dawsons great footwork and ability to get himself out of trouble when gettin hurt etc...there were a lot of great things about this fight. The only thing that i can think of is that they were eager to see dawson brawl more in hopes johnson the home town guy (sorta) would win. I don't think any tarver fan who's people were mainy in attendance want to see him have to fight dawson, cause the chances of him beating dawson are pretty slim.
Agreed Mar, I think it was the dumb ass Tarver fans (who knew?) that booed him.
I thought it was a GREAT fight, and I agree a FOTY contender and I thought the booing was ridiculous much the same. Those fans in St. Petes should learn from the fans in Germany for the Sylvester fight, those were great fans. Definitely left me wanting to see more from both fighters.
I don't think they were booing Chad , more aimed towards the judges. As soon as they said unanimous people started moaning. BCD should be proud he was in with a World class fighter and hung in there. I'm not gonna cry over the decision anymore, but I would have booed at those scores as well.

I think it was round 7 where he put a 4 punch combo with 2 shots upstairs and 2 down stairs. The crowd was booing cause BCD was countering and boxing the people that boo! are people who don't appreciate boxing skills and are there just to see a brawl. The people who appreciate it and know the sport saw how BCD was able to control Glen with his jab and then follow it with a right hand circle around and repeat. Also they didn't boo him all night long cause they did applaud in the early rounds which he won and also the middle rounds he won.
I have no problem with the fight being close cause it was Glen brought pressure in the end and closed out strong but it's 12 rounds that count not just the last ones.Quote:

One thing that people like yourself REALLY need to think about here is that BCD is ONLY 25.... Yes, 25 and the kids talented. If he can stay hungry and continue to improve then the skies the limit for him.
I'll repeat it BCD is not a puncher. Hes a boxer, he uses the ring generalship. I think last night he showed that he can take a punch he didn't go down yes he was rocked but he didn't go down and YES he showed heart when he fought back despite being hurt.Quote:

I think Glens a quality opponent and many people thought he'd take out BCD but he didn't BCD fought smart and boxed. He still has things he needs to improve on but the fact is he continues to win. Also Adamek was argueably #1 when BCD defeated him so thats 2 quality opponents there.
Look I can see the fight being closed and I can see he's not Mr. Punching power. But to say he's got no heart is ridiculous. THe kids talented and if you couldn't see that from last nights fight then I don't know what to tell you. With time we'll talk again about him and we'll see what you think of the kid then. For now class is dismissed.

This fight showed me how tough BCD is. He didn't go down,was smart when hurt and is TREMENDOUS TO WATCH. I mean seriously,his boxing is beautiful,but he could make fights so much easier if he used the jab a little more. His handspeed is senational.His combos were beautiful.I was HUGELY impressed by BCD,another awesome call Mick my man. Really impressed that you saw him coming form a mile away! Well allow me to play Devil's Advocate here.
It's entirely different when you're actually at a fight to watching it on television.
Johnson put on a great attacking performance and the crowd were really getting behind him. He's 40 years old (actually I reckon he's 54) and was putting a hurting on the much younger, slicker champion.
Johnson has long been a fight fans fighter, have gloves will travel and the crowd were getting behind his efforts.
They felt he should have won, which if you guys were there ringside and caught up in the drama of it all you probably would have as well.
When you're out in a huge crowd with your mates cheering on at a sporting event its an entirely different occaision to carefully analyising a fight round by round at home.
Plus everybody boo's and jeers at ANY sporting event, it's what males do in a crowd enviroment
Yeah but this booing was a bit harder to stomach. Mind you I thought that Johnson won the fight.
The fans didn't just boo after the decision was announced, they first booed in the 6th round after a great first five rounds, Dawson began moving a bit and the fans booed. Immediately after the bout ended Dawson put his hands up after a strong finish and was booed.
How ungrateful! A home team should never be booed in their own building, and a great fight should never draw any boos. What the hell was the crowd expecting to see? They got a FOTY canidate, WTH was their problem?
I know what it is, if you watched the main event you would know that the crowd was full of TARVER fans, he had thousands in the arena in that night and that's why they booed. Boxing is a big sport in St. Petes, they are up on their news and all the Tarver fans in the arena knew that Dawson and Tarver are on a collision course. That's why the boo birds came out.
