If Hopkins beats JC will people say the same thing about JC that they said about Hatton that he was a smaller opponent from the SMW division. I know Hopkins started at MW but hes a natural LHW just like how Floyd Started at super feather weight and is a natural WW
If Hopkins beats Joe and does it without controversy then he gets my full credit. I would be extremely surprised to see Hopkins beating Calzaghe though.
He was looking mean at the weigh in and he is obviously ready to go to work on Hopkins. I actually dont think this will be a boring fight, Calzaghe will force the life into it.
If Hopkins beats Calzaghe he'll get all kinds of credit. One would hope so anyways.
In my mind, the fact that Calzaghe is a SMW coming up to LW is immaterial as Hopkins competed at MW for the bulk of his career.

Hopkins get fool credit if he beats Joe. IMO hopkins is not a natural LHW hence the reason he fought most of career at 160. I don't believe PBF is a natrual WW either.

If Hopkins does beat Joe then B-hop jumps IMO into one of the stand-out greats of the sports...I think some people still see this as Joe's defining fight,trying to prove himself. No they can't use that excuse for a few reasons, 1 Calzaghe had to drain himself to make the Super Middleweight limit. He has stated that he feels much stronger at Light Heavyweight because he does not have to starve himself. And 2 Hopkins is the one that started at a lower weight class not Calzaghe.Quote:

Actually I got to disagree with that a lot of people said that Hatton wasn't at his best at welter, basically cause of the Collazo fight. I said that too before the fight. I wasn't making excuses for Hatton, I think Floyd would have won at 140 too, just saying that I thought Hatton wasn't at his best at 147.
If Hopkins loses then I won't say its cause of his age cause he seems to be in great shape. Only situation where that would be a reasonable excuse if he came out and his legs looked shot from the beginning.
its plain and simple -
A win for hopkins is way bigger than a win would be for jc. if hopkin wins he will go down, if not allready, as a all time great. If JC wins it will enhance his reputation in america for future big fights but will not enhance his legacy that much, as bernard is a 43 yr old man.
If B-Hop beats Calzaghe it will show the world that Calzaghe was a really over rated boxer. It will also show that a 40 something year old champ from America is greater than a 30 something year old champ from Wales. Thats all it will really show. Go Hopkins. Go USA.
