hopkins Was Emabarrased, Outclassed And Exposed

For all you guys that have joined hopkins in denial manor, I have a new home for you right here.

Hopkins was trying to throw one shot at a time and trying to counter Joe all night but by like the 4th round, Joe had it figured out and made easy work of it. He had hopkins timing and everything else down.

Everyone wants to try to downplay it and say that Joe was throwing some wild punches but it was Bernard who was looking silly in the second half of the fight and being countered when he wasn't being swarmed.

Joe was so masterful in solving hopkins. He came in not throwing his hardest punches because he knew bernanrd was putting his head down thus putting Joe in position to get his face busted up so he just threw half strength and and quickly covered his fave before hopkins head could hit it.

He was in survival mode near the end against a guy who clearly wasn't going to stop coming to get him so he did what any other coward would do; try to get him DQ'ed or get points taken away. Spot on. As i stated in a previous post. Did Hopkins tire out near the end of the fight...absolutely. Did Hopkins rely primarily on one punch (the straight right)...absolutely. Did Hopkins clearly win or dominate the fight...absolutely not. That being said...for all of Joe's supposed landed punches...Hopkins landed the more solid and effective shots. And please don't bring up compubox...that is as reliable as Lederman's scorecards. Joe can throw a million punches a fight...but his pitter pattering missed most of the time and was never effective. I think Joe is one of the most overrated fighters in recent times. I only wish he had fought someone like Roy Jones in his prime. He would be severely exposed.

Exposed ?? in what way ?? the man is 43 for crying out loud he fought a smart effective fight and made Calzaghe look terrible, in fact theres more of a case of Calzaghe being exposed than Hopkins. Calzaghe's lack of defense was exposed quite badly in this fight amongst other things.

There was no way that was a close fight unless you're a hopkins fan. And that only reason it was as close as it was is because 1) the ref didn't stop hopkins from fighting dirty 2) hopkins was holding on for dear life most of the fight and hitting low on the breaks 3) hopkins got a 5 minute break for a punch that wasn't even low and he was looking very tired at the time

Hopkins got 5 minute break for a punch that wasn't even low ?? i think you need some glasses and watch the replay Calzaghe clearly low blowed Hopkins, it wasn't a hard punch but it was still low. The fight was close you can make an argument Hopkins won 3 out of the first 4 rounds and you could make an argument that he won another 2 rounds at least, add that with the knockdown and its a close fight, how about i comeback and say if you don't think the fights close you must be Calzaghe fan ?? Calzaghe was also very dirty in the fight he landed repeated rabbit shots, he hit on the break, and he landed at least 4 low blows in the fight. Everything Calzaghe was up against ?? he was the favorite he is the more comfortable at the weight than Hopkins, because Calzaghe has had to drain himself to make Super Middleweight so he is naturally Light Heavyweight, plus Hopkins is 43 so i would say Hopkins was up against the odds.

Please explain how it is possible to expose bhop at this stage of his career. Joe could have whooped the shit out of him, knocked him out and made him cry but you still couldnt expose him. No shit. Both fighters deserve respect, it was a close fight, which I feel Calzaghe edged, but it could've gone either way and both men deserve credit. Even though I feel that he lost, I was very impressed with Hopkins. Well, until he opened his mouth, but that's a different story.

4) only mentioned J T because i respect him even though he lost, he had the courage to fight pavlic in his prime and then fought again after being the fuck knocked out. Nas got a beating in his prime against barrera and dissapeared, thats the difference between true quality. Well see if Joe C fights pavlic, i gurantee you he wont.

5) i give hatton more credit than Joe c - he fought his best against a prime mayweather and stayed away from FRANCK WARREN. Everybody knows what FRANK does with his fighters and so did hatton and he left him.

There was no way that was a close fight unless you're a hopkins fan. And that only reason it was as close as it was is because 1) the ref didn't stop hopkins from fighting dirty 2) hopkins was holding on for dear life most of the fight and hitting low on the breaks 3) hopkins got a 5 minute break for a punch that wasn't even low and he was looking very tired at the time

When you take into account everything Joe was going up against, you have to say he's an unbelievable fighter with his ability to sdjust to anything and everything dirtnard hopkins brought into the fight.

Hopkins I think realised that he was going to get out punched volume wise from round 4. That meant a long night for both fighters.

I don't see that anyone was really outclassed or exposed. Hopkins lost to a younger, fresher undefeated, undisputed champion - no shame in that. Calzaghe fought the game plan he needed to against a cagey, experienced future hall of fame inductee - no shame in that.

Bernard's great defensive skills made Calzaghe look absolutely horrible, While Bernard's flaw was he didn't punch very often, Calzaghe's flaw was that he missed terribly on most of his punches, and the once he landed were usually ineffective slaps. I saw Wright land more clean shots on Bernard than Calzaghe by a long shot.

In the end hereshow i see it in an unbiased viewpoint (HATERS PLEASE LOOK AT WHAT I WRITE):

Hopkins:

Fantastic counter puncher, proves that he is a hall of famer and has had a great career. A real tough cookie with incredible defense and a very hard right hand. Took the first 3 rounds decisively with a 10,8 in the first due to a counter punching right that floored calzaghe. Tried every trick in the book, some not so legal in boxing but hes been doing that for years, thats what hes about.

Calzaghe:

Great ring craft, fantastic flowing boxer with great combos and always finds his distance, another great hall of famer with pretty much a complete game. Has been known to throw slaps at times when he starts flurrying the combos except he has some decent power punches aswell. After getting floored in the first he became very cautious and was ineffective for the next 2 rounds, but come the 4th he started regaining his confidence and composure. He adapted his style to overcome hopkins defense and countering from rounds 5-8, losing only 1 round along the way.

Round 4, the turning point:

Watch this round again! When calzaghe pulls off some combos and blocks hopkins right counter or manages to avoid it, we see him drop his hands lower and fire off more combos into hopkins whos countering becomes more innefective and resorts to clinching instead.

If anything this fight proved 2 things (i couldnt care less what haters on both sides say):

Hopkins is a hall of famer with a real defensive philly style and great countering ability. Not a pretty fighter but gets the job done. He proves at 43 he is in no way 'past it' because he put in a performance probably better than the one he did against tarver that effectively schooled tarver. At 43 years old he proves that to lose a close decission against a fighter of calzaghe's quality and athleticism that he is an all time great fighter! Even though he lost (i had it 115,113 to calzaghe) he did himself proud in the fight (the only thing that tainted it was his mouth with the whole black/white issue).

Calzaghe was proven as the winner and this was him passing his test!

He had to come to america and fight one of the most tricky fighters out there. He was down in the first yet battled back and adapted his style to start pressing the fight. In the end it was calzaghe who was indeed managing to out-tactic hopkins. The first 4 rounds hopkins was playing out his game perfectly, calzaghe adapted in the 4th and from the 5th onward he found the 'calzaghe range' and effectively illiminated the counter threat of hopkins.

In no means was it a cruise, in no means was it pretty, but in the end calzaghe past the test...this SHOULD EASILY BE ENOUGH FOR THE DOUBTERS TO START RATING HIM and many of the doubters do now rate him, but it is the HATERS who will never rate him.

There are doubters and there are haters, those are 2 different categories.

A doubter might for instance place doubt that calz will beat pavlik, but a hater will still hate on calzaghe even after he beats pavlik and will see things from a tainted perspective.

Ive videod the fight and each time it is 115,113 to calzaghe, calzaghe takes a MINIMUM OF 6 ROUNDS in the fight, i give him 7, hopkins 4 and 1 draw (which coulda gone either way).

In no way can i see calzaghe could have lost that fight on scorecards, at best would be a draw for hopkins.

I give my respect to hopkins as a fighter, but it was calzaghe the greater champ who adapted his style and imposed his ring craft on hopkins and started to dictate from rounds 5-12.

Both are brilliant fighters, hopkins definately impressed me and proved why he is a legend...but in the emd calzaghe past the test and has PROVEN that he is the real deal:)

When I read the title of this thread, I was for sure it was about the "whiteboy" comment. For that, Hopkins should be embarrased. As for the fight, the only thing exposed, was his age, and that has already been exposed before. The proper term IMO, about the fight would be outworked, or outhustled, which most everyone knew would happen.

Nope, it was a close fight.

But calzaghe won 7 out of the 12 rounds, hopkins took 4 (possibly 5) and scored a kd aswell, meaning whatever way you look calzaghe did enough to win.

Even the neutrals all say calzaghe won, it is only the people who hate calzaghe who are still maintaining that they thought hopkins won, hbo though calzaghe won, setanta thought calzaghe won, the judges thought calzaghe won...75% of fans thought calzaghe won aswell.

These are things ive written in other threads, dont tarnish me with another brush when ive clearlt said that i give nard lots of credit, he put up a great performance and was beating calzaghe emphatically until the 4th round when you could see calzaghe adapt, he managed to adapt his style like a true champ does and then decissively take some rounds along with some narrow wins in rounds to take the fight.

Ive watched it 3 times now and have the fight 115,113 to calzaghe on all occassions.

Tbh i cant be asked with this debate any longer as its getting boring now, we need to spk about something else, the whole calzaghe vs hopkins thing is starting to get very teadious and boring.

These are things ive written in other threads, dont tarnish me with another brush when ive clearlt said that i give nard lots of credit, he put up a great performance and was beating calzaghe emphatically until the 4th round when you could see calzaghe adapt, he managed to adapt his style like a true champ does and then decissively take some rounds along with some narrow wins in rounds to take the fight.

Ive watched it 3 times now and have the fight 115,113 to calzaghe on all occassions.

Tbh i cant be asked with this debate any longer as its getting boring now, we need to spk about something else, the whole calzaghe vs hopkins thing is starting to get very teadious and boring.

It was a close fight, hopkins started v well but calzaghe finished better, calzaghe won, thats all there is to it...let it be history and for the love of God lets spk about something else now guys.

ive seen other threads and there is a majority of people who feel like hopkins won the fight too and it isnt a small majority so where did this "75 percent of people think calzaghe won" crap come from?

Cazlaghe didn't empress me in round 5 or 6 or 7 or 9 or 10 I am not saying Bernard won all those rounds, but I could make points for him in every one of them

How classless was that on the part of bernard to fake it not once but twice? Max Kellerman called him on his bluff and showed him the replay and he still wouldn't confess. He actually had the nerve to say that it was right on the letters. Memo to bernard: Thats a legal punch stupid.

Exposed:
Now everyone got a chance to see how hopkins reacts when the tables are turned and all his dirty tactics don't amount to enough to slow the guy down. He chickens out. To top it off, he couldn't give the guy credit knowing he just beat him decisively.

Hatton didn't get exposed on a world stage at all, he got exposed as a full welterweight against the world's best p4p fighter. He's dominated in his own weight class and for the last three or so years has ONLY fought non British opposition. He's beaten two future Hall of Famers neither of whom was British and lost only to a guy who has beaten every other single one of his opponents as well. So by your logic Zab Judah, Corrales, De La Hoya, Genaro Hernandez and Jesus Chavez all got exposed on a world stage too.

How in the world you can list Lennox Lewis as being exposed is completely beyond me, he's the most dominant heavyweight IN THE WHOLE WORLD of the last 15 or so years. Not since Larry Holmes has a heavyweight been more dominant than him.

How you think Audley Harrison was exposed on a world stage when he never even got beyond British domestic level is also beyond me.

And Enzo Maccerinelli has never been exposed by an American fighter, he got knocked out by David Haye A BRIT!

Anyway at least according to your logic we can say that Bernard Hopkins finally got exposed on a world stage losing to Joe Calzaghe :cool:
