Pacquiao-diaz Title Fight Sells 7,000 Tickets On First Day
In what may well be an unprecedented opening day sale for tickets to a Manny Pacquiao fight, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says over 7,000 tickets of the 11,500 available tickets at the Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel & Casino were sold last Saturday for Pacquiao’s WBC lightweight title fight against champion David Diaz on June 28.

Re: Pacquiao-diaz Title Fight Sells 7,000 Tickets On First Day
Well, it's a mega-fight featuring the p4p king who also happens to be the most exciting fighter against a bigger and quality fighter in David Diaz. I'm not in the least bit surprised. This said,
WAR PACQUIAO!

Don't say that, unless you're David Tua himself.

your missing my point buddy... it is that the title would imply both of them are indeed lethal, when IMO and probably most of the forums would be that David Diaz isnt exactly that lethal.
shit, id say pac vs em 1, 2, 3 would have better grounds being titled lethal combination
or maybe pac vs valero
but diaz?

He's a champ. And a much bigger fighter. He's definitely LETHAL to anyone coming from the lower weights.
Hope I answered your question.

Re: Pacquiao-diaz Title Fight Sells 7,000 Tickets On First Day
Diaz is insulted if you miss his chin.Nice guy,Tough heart but keeping it warm waiting for Pacs breakout....thats all.Hey...I bet the Diaz vs. Pac fight will not be the # 4 lead fight to air on a PPV card this time :p
-
Re: Pacquiao-diaz Title Fight Sells 7,000 Tickets On First Day
yeah diaz does seem rather cool from the interviews and such rather humble.
it would be a shame if pac under estimated/ under trained again for him huh?

Diaz will probably wiegh about the same as Pac on fight night. Diaz is the same height. How is Diaz the bigger man? Fuck SHOT, GONE, PAST IT KO"D BY PAC MORALES nearly beat Diaz. Yeah he is really LETHAL!
Your theory would suggest that PBF took a huge risk when he fought DLH. I mean DLH was a champ in a higher division right? That'd make him LETHAL to a guy like PBF coming up from the lighter weights right?

Re: Pacquiao-diaz Title Fight Sells 7,000 Tickets On First Day
Well, the opening day ticket sales is "LETHAL" (61% of total available tickets sold on the 1st day of sale!)...
Hope there's some semblance of "LETHAL" in the outcome of this fight...
Lethal knockout... maybe... or lethal SD ... ;)
.

I have been wanting to see a KO from Pacquaio with his last two fights. I thought he would be able to KO Marquez and Barrera. Hopefully this one would be a KO from the PAcman.
I believe that if he won't be able to KO Diaz then that means he has already deteriorated as a KO specialist. He therefore must not proceed to fight Hatton or else he will get KOed in Hatton's natural weight.

Barrera wasn't going to get knocked out because he chose not to engage that night, I can understand that.
Marquez could've been knocked out in round 3 but Pacquiao ran out of time. Marquez also could've been knocked out in round 10 but he again escaped trouble.
It's either Pacquiao has lost his "finishing" ability or Marquez knows how to survive against Manny. If Manny cannot knockout Diaz or anyone else he fights at lightweight, I agree with you that he should not go anywhere near 140lbs or Hatton.

Marquez was well conditioned that night. Prolly the best condition he ever had. He trained over 3 months in high altitude for that fight.
Pac better start training now for D.Diaz btw. Cuz I heard Diaz already started with his training a month ago.
Screw Pacquiao-Hatton. 140 is not the ideal weight for both fighters.

Didn't you say you lived in Pampanga and you're FPJ's godson?.. then you should know better cuz thats the Diaz's province too and they were super close with FPJ.
I didn't know their dad was a Mexican.

Re: Pacquiao-diaz Title Fight Sells 7,000 Tickets On First Day
Here's some info from wikipedia regarding Paquito Diaz.
Francisco Bustillos Diaz, who is better known by his screen name Paquito Diaz (born May 28, 1945 in Pampanga, Philippines), is a veteran Filipino actor and movie director who specialized in action and comedy. His father was an American citizen of Mexican (Spanish and Native American) descent. His brother, the late Romy Diaz, and children Joko and Cheska are also actors.
Like many of us from the Philippines, we can trace our origin to Spanish ancestors. That's why there are many Filipinos who look like Mexicans.
Besides, I believe Spanish was the medium of instruction in the Philippines before. Our national hero even wrote his books in Spanish. I really love "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo". Pacstraight and Julius, have you read those books already?

Jose Rizal was a nobelman. But Andres Bonifacio is my fav of all Fil heroes, cuz he wasn't just all about talk,.. he was a katipunero.

Re: Pacquiao-diaz Title Fight Sells 7,000 Tickets On First Day
David Diaz: Yeah, I think it is. I think regardless of the outcome of this, I think everybody is gonna be happy that Manny took this fight. It would a be a fight that people come to see back to the old days boxing. So think this is gonna be very good fight for this sports.
Cant believe David said that. He should be sounding confident. Pac is gonna have to be the boxer in this one but the way hes been evolving I dont think he will mind that role. Davids easy to see coming and Pac has the speed to counter him. A washed up Erik Morales who lasted 3 with Pac handled David fairly easily so Pac should be able to do a similar job .

Train hard, Erik advises Pacman
By Joaquin Henson, The Philippine Star, Fri, 25 Apr 2008
Erik Morales has some friendly advice for Manny Pacquiao who faces WBC lightweight champion David Diaz in Las Vegas on June 28. “Train hard,” he said. “Extend your training because if you’re up against a fighter who’s prepared to go the distance, you might find it difficult to stay strong.” Read Full Story >>> Philippine Star - Articles - -

Re: Pacquiao-diaz Title Fight Sells 7,000 Tickets On First Day
Haha! ;D
Morales' opinion on Pac-JMM 2:
“It was a close fight but Manny clearly won,” said Morales. “Manny knocked down Marquez and that made the difference. Marquez and his fans thought he won. You can’t stop people from disagreeing with the decision. But we must understand that judges see things some people don’t. They see different angles. They’re in the best position to decide who won.”
He and I have pretty much the same take.

Promoter Bob Arum and trainer Freddie Roach, leading figures in Manny Pacquiao’s career, yesterday expressed concern over the decision made by the Filipino southpaw not to leave for the US next week so the fighter can both promote and train early for his June 28 bout in Las Vegas. I think this will actually be a guarenteed scrap.Diaz can not Fight backing and will lay in while pac will hopefully bye the notion that Diaz is but a belt-warmer and go out for the spectacular Demolition.Let the coronation for the king began l0l.Pacs left and sharp combos will eventually wreck All to willing Diaz but Diaz will not go sheepishly

Brother Julius,
Am not mixing Mexicans from Spaniards. What am saying is that, some Mexicans and Filipinos have the same origins. Remember that we were under the Viceroy of Mexico during Spanish period.Mexico was also under Spanish colonial rule as we were.
Bro, we were not occupied by Spain. We were conquered. I know because I know the history of the Philippines very well.
Regarding FPJ, he was alleged to be an American citizen.;)
Brother pacstraight,
Am not also for Jose Rizal as our national hero. I love his books but as to agree for his being our national hero is a different thing.
I suggest though that you read his "Noli me Tangere" and you'll know the reason why he was made our national hero.
