Favorite prospects!?!?
Who are your favorite prospects?
Criteria:
1) No more than 20 fights
2) Can not have fought for a WBA, WBO, WBC or IBF title
3) Minor titles (i.e. EBU, NABA, Commonwealth, International) are ok
My picks are the following
1) Abner Mares
2) Ronald Hearns
3) Andre Ward
4) Andre Dirrell
5) Amir Khan

2. Odlanier Solis

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
My clear favorites are these in no order. No telling who's going to be better then who but these are the front runners. Those are the most sure things imo except for Williams but Williams is going to be good. Banal, Ward and Mares are all going to be titlist within the next 2 years imo.
Aaron Williams
Andre Ward
Abner Mares
Yuriorkis Gamboa
AJ Banal
Andre Berto
The Peterson Brothers, especially Lamont but both are very good.
Then there are a whole host of others who have accomplished different levels of success early on.
Peter Quillin
Joe Greene (who we will see tonight on WNF)
Devon Alexander
Chazz Witherspoon (though he needs to pick it up)
Tovaris Cloud
Matt Goddfrey
Yoan Pablo Hernandez
Alfredo Angulo
Victor Ortiz
Antonio Johnson (if he is still fighting, he went back to Minnesota from CA and it was a bad move imo)
Then there are guys who have just turned pro recently but I think they have potential to be very good.
Rico Ramos
Mike Dallas Jr.
Mark Davis Jr.
Qaid Muhammad
Kevin Buckley
Beibut Shumenov (Who was a very good amateur but disappointed in Athens. He might just get a title shot before any of the people on these bottom two lists and he's only 5 fights in.)
There are loads others I have written down elsewhere in a notebook but these are the ones off my head after thinking a bit.

Man wish i would've known...me and the wife had a good time. What could anyone think, for what ward was against and his limited comp before that i'd have to say he looked great, too early to tell about the future though. Nice to see a boxer from the bay doin it somewhat big lol !!

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Theres a few guys i like out there that i didnt put down cos theres a fine line where a fighter is still a prospect or has had enough losses or fights to consider them otherwise..
But.. they are still up and coming..
-
Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Bernabe Concepcion... I consider him as the top 122 lbs. prospect... Even higher than Juan Manuel Lopez...
Concepcion will be fighting this weekend's "Latin Fury" card in Mexico...
.
-
Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Shittt..Of course.. How'd i leave out Juanma
-
Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
I would have had him there too, but he has 21 wins, so he didn't qualify.
-
Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Yeah and he has a title shot coming up so I would take the prospect label off him at this point otherwise he would be at the top of my list.
-
Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
I like pretty much like all the fighters that have been posted so far, but I would like to add James Kirkland to the bunch. He needs to work on this defense a bit, but he is all action, and comes out guns blazin right from the start.
-
Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
For sure Kirkland is a hot prospect, but he has 21 wins as well, but he would be there otherwise. This fight with Albert will tell alot about him, albert is a very good boxer, Olympic pedigree, and good quality wins.
-

Yeah, but 16 of those 21 wins ended in 3 rounds or less, so not much pro time in those 21 fights, so I'll still consider him a prospect. ;) ;D

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
Omar Chavez
David Lemieux
-
Re: Favorite prospects!?!?

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
DiPace hasn't fought on TV yet has he? I really want to see him. He got a tough break in not being at the Olympics he just happened to be stuck behind a strong division with Rios and Russel. I want to see him soon.

Re: Favorite prospects!?!?
This kid is not anywhere close to being a prospect but he's one to keep an eye on... I've seen a lot of fighters in both the amatuers and in pro debuts...
This kid is one of the the best. I don't know if I've ever seen such skill right out of the gate. The guy he was fighting against was for the most part very unskilled and fairly slow but was game.
Qi'ad had him on the deck a bunch of times. The most impressive thing about him was his speed and his reflexes... Just totally on point. He toyed with his opponant the whole way through... Not being cocky(although I'm sure he is) but more of traeting it as a sparing session trying to gain experience.
He will be a good fighter and in 10 to 15 bouts I'm sure you'll hear his name:cool:
Qa'id Muhammad
Here is what I have said about him in the past...
