Oscar is struggling to make 150
"I'm struggling and starving myself to make 150. I have to work to make the weight and I've already been on weight for a couple of weeks so we're getting down to hard, tough training. That's what Floyd Sr. does for me. Our relationship is always a good one. We just had that little glitch in that last fight, which is understandable, and now it's just back to business."
with his age and inactivity this could spell serious trouble for oscar

Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
Counting on the Golden Boy to beat Mayweather in the re-match. C'mon De la Golden.
-
Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
I think that it going be a nightmare for him , if he plan fight with Cotto like that ........;D
-
Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
he'll make it and rehydrate easily this is just a ploy i suspect to generate more interest in the fight by getting people to think forbes has a chance which he doesnt this is a "cake walk in the park" as the loquacious pbf would say

Forbes would be crazy to not take this fight, not much more you can do in boxing for your profile than to step in the ring with Oscar, plus I'm sure he's getting paid well.
-
Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
True if Oscar de la golden offered you a few million quid to let him Knock you the fuck out..you'd be hard pressed to say no.

The story behind what? I just see a man with an oppotunity to get paid well and get his face on HBO in a high profile fight, with a countdown series showing his story. Win or lose as long as no permanent damage is done, Forbes will be better off at the end of the day.

If that's the scenario then LET'S GO FORBES!!
I always root for the ELA kid but if this is what is going to take for FLOYD to fight the winner btween COTTO/MARGARITO then by all means let DH lose.
I mean if DH shows what he can do against FORBES and win convincingly and not decisively then let's see the rematch.

Exactly. This is the opportunity of a lifetime for Forbes.

Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
Hhhmph, how wrong and completely degrating it is for ODLH to face Forbes but how completely fine and acceptable it was for Cotto to face Gomez, eh?
ODLH get his ass kicked A-G-A-I-N? The first fight was far from that for both fighters ending in a questionable split-decision where Oscar brought the fight even though he was the champion and should have been the other way around.

Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
Not even interested in the fight, Oscar should just go away and let the professionals do it. Gives Mayweather the excuse not to fight anyone dangerous but then again he will find another easy cash cow Hatton, Amir Khan, Manny Pac et al

Manny Pacquiao???? WTF when did he move up in weight? I wish, hope, and prey that Pac-Man could go up in weight a la Bernard Hopkins to fight Mayweather...He would F'ing destroy Mayrunner....ahhh what it is to dream:rolleyes:

REALLLY? I would have never guessed it...
I hate to toot my own horn here but......
I told you so. I kept posting this OVER and over and over and over.
Since last year when the annoucement/rumor went around that he'd fight at 147. I posted that ODLH would not and could not hit 147 anymore that he'd be a corpse if he did get to that weight. Now here we hare about 6,7 months later... :)

I agree Mick. I never understood the logic of Oscar moving down in weight. It makes no sense at all. Oscar is a big enough moneymaker that any fighter would gladly move up in weight to 154 to face him. I have no clue what Oscar gains by going to 150 or 147.

Whats funny is letting Mayweather entertain this convinence ...I can see Cotto and Margarito peering throught the window....saying HI,Remember us?

Spot on Sweet... It especially looks bad that Floyd Sr. was talking about Oscar looking better at 147 then 154.

Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
It is a ploy if he was really struggling he would never announce it publicly. If it is true then he is the idiot that gave his only advantage away to Mayweather.
-
Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
Didn't we expect this?
This is either pre-fight hype to even the odds and cause some media coverage OR that ODH is really having trouble which he may honestly be having but hell he makes 154 easily, other fighters can shed a good 10 pounds before a weigh-in so why not De la Hoya?
Sauna + Suana jacket + bicycle = weight loss
-
Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
But the Sauna will mess his hair and he does not want to do that!

I've been around ODLH and I can tell you he EASILY walks around 160-170 lbs. Now I'm not saying he's fat, I'm sure it's 160-170 but well fit.
If you see and look at pictures of ODLH from the begining of press conf. vs. PBF to the weigh in you can see the drastic change in his face and body. He looks fucken thin, that's why come fight night vs. PBF he rehidrated back up.
For me even if he manages to get to 147 you can rest assured he is struggling and IMO risking a lot.

Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
If Kelly Pavlik and Jermain Taylor could make 160 then Oscar can get down to 147.
Hell you pay me enough and I'm bound to get down to 147! ;D
In all honesty all he has to do is get to 150 where he's totally ripped and then get 3 pounds of water weight off...piece of cake and even if he's 155-157 he should be able to make 147 for a weigh in....he can balloon up to 165 afterwards!

Except Pavlik and Taylor are much younger than Oscar. Do you think those guys will be able to make 160 when they're 35 years old (Oscar's current age)?
When Oscar was in his 20s like Taylor and Pavlik, he could make 147 easily. But he's not young anymore. He's 35 and has been fighting at 154 or above for 7 years.
P.S. I know Mosley was able to drop back down from 154 to 147, but he's shorter than Oscar. Also, Shane looked overly muscular at 154 (and looked like he'd be better at 147), whereas Oscar looked natural at 154 and comfortable there.

Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
It doesn't matter, it's within his grasp....he's the fucking promoter so why would he sign onto a fight he couldn't possibly fight???
GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS is named that for a reason....why would he sign a fight vs Floyd at 147 if he can't possibly make that weight?
If he did and KNEW he couldn't make the weight then someone is probably betting heavily on Forbes to win only to reap the rewards and use that money to create a superfight between PBF and the Cotto-Margarito winner
-
Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
As mentioned earlier down if oscar losing meant PBF-cotto then i for one would be rooting for forbes all the way.
Cant see it happening though, brewer/hopkins probably have already taken their toll on forbes!!
late stoppage for oscar
october/november PBF rematch
much wider points loss
De la hoya leaves the ring at the MGM a bruised and battered hero
thats how this is gonna go down right??
-
Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
Serves DeLa Hoya right. Money hungry dog.I hope Forbes beats him. And if not,I'll be rooting for that prick Floyd to KTFO him out. He's the better of 2 evils.Oscar is an idiot and should just go away. He clearly cannot make 147 anymore.Yet he still presists because he's some how going to become better than he's been in his last few fights and beat Mayweather.

Re: Oscar is struggling to make 150
What is the difference between God and Oscar Dela Hoya.
God does not think he is Oscar!

ODLH is pro's pro. He is always in decent shape, has great trainers and people around him and he isn't a party animal. The activity is less than wanted but we are talking about a 35 yr old not a 23 year old. ODLH is going down and Forbes is coming up. This does not bode well for Forbes. And if Cotto knew what was best he would do his best to make the fight at 147.
