Should be a decent fight. Rees will be in way over his head, literally, but I think he has enough heart and courage to make it an entertaining fight for a few rounds.
I'm curious to see how Khan does being trainined by Dean Powell rather than Oliver Hasrrison as well

Rees is to big. (do not even dare go there ;))

Rees would make a credible opponent. Gavin himself will be better suited for lightweight and I'd expect him to go the distance with Khan.
For me, this is probably one fight too late for Khan, with the former title holder meant to be the title holder when he fought Khan. Unfortunately Kotelnik scuppered the Frank Warren machinations and meant he'll actually have to get Khan fighting a real world champ instead. I don't think Khan will be too worried about the step up in weight, if it is at LWW, and he ought to make fairly short work of Rees if he wants to be ranked among the best in the world.
I'm sure the plans were to get a shot at a lightweight title first. Don't think Khan has enough pop yet to be good at LWW. Then again, they may have planned to get the title and move straight back down, claiming to be a two weight champion .Quote:

the guy will be giving up half a foot to amir khan and has the potential to make amir look very amateurish on the night.
The 2 styles just would not work, rees game plan is very similar to khan, work away on the inside and look to draw your opponent onto a counter punch.
But together it would just become a messy scrappy affair that would no doubt end in khan stopping rees late on and proveing nothing in the shape of whether the guy is ready to step up to world class level.
Romanov, katsidis - heck if amir does wanna prove himself at a different weight bring kotelnik over....but rees??

It will sound good on the Khan resume having a former world champ on his record , but Rees is not world class , its only Warrens conections and a multi titled boxing world that made him champ , im not convinced by Khan ,but he chews up Rees and spits him out inside 6.
