Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
Supposedly the 27,000 seat arena is close to a sellout, so should be a good-sized crowd?
Any members attending? Mick?

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
ODLH - 4th round KO
Ortiz - 6th round KO
Garcia - UD
Jacobs - 2nd round KO
Castro - 4th round KO
Sanchez - UD
Curiel - UD
Munguia - KO
Pretty much everything has been said already about ODLH - Forbes, looks like most of the night is a showcase for the red corner, I gotta go with Ferguson to lose, Cherry exposed his chin badly in the last fight and while he is trying to be a slick fighter, his defense is not nearly tight enough to protect it. Does PBF still promote for Ferguson?

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
Is this tomorrow or next Saturday?
De La Hoya late TKO

I have nothing but respect for Forbes but Can Oscar really be proud of this one??My head says The Diva gets a 8th round TKO from the corner,My heart would like Forbes to turn the Plotted future for Mayweather Vs. DeLahoya on its pompous head and Forbes to out hustle/maneuver Him over 12...:-X

You think Forbes can Cory Spinks his way to a win or at least a close decision? I think that would be hilarious if that happened and that would take all the steam away from DLH - PBF II. But Oscar the promoter and the fighter, I bet the ring is the size of a California King size bed. I don't think it matters anyways though but hey, this is one time I wouldn't mind to be dead wrong somehow.
I do think though that if De La Hoya is dominant and more dominant then expected, that people will warm up this fight with Mayweather. Meaning if he goes out and you feel bad for Steve Forbes at the end of 5 rounds then Oscar has done a good job. If he comes out looking like a monster then this rematch takes on a lot more interest. We all knew Cotto was going to beat Gomez but when he absolutely demolished Gomez and then toyed with him, it made us think who would get in the ring with him. Oscar did that with Mayorga, he had a meanstreak in him he did against Chavez too.
If De La Hoya tries to outbox Forbes and possibly drag it to decision, I won't be impressed and in that case I hope he does somehow get outhustled. However, if he comes out with a meanstreak from the first round and pounds Two Pounds into the ground I think a lot of people would be impressed and think again he has the chance to beat Mayweather.

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
Oscar will smash Forbes to pieces. I'm thinking 3 rounds.
-
Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
You know I think I'm overthinking this by even thinking it will go late in the fight. Forbes was a good solid 130-135 pounder. He's got skills, I like him but he's too small (hate to be oversimplistic but if you can't beat Grady Brewer...)and Oscar's just better anyway.
Will be over before 6 rounds.

Good point on Spinks.I'll tell you in all honesty, call me crazy but I can see a scenario were Forbes puts it all together and relies on The hustle/busy Factor.I definatley DO NOT think It will Happen like that but This would be monumental and a huge let down set up scenario, straight out of Hollywood :oI think Forbes will be pushed to earn respect from Oscar and unlike Spinks in many cases,Stevie will let his moxie and heart get the better of his Being boxing smart.I can in no way or manner see his punches effecting Oscar save for a cut or a one in a hundred temple shot.I can not help but think of an inside mob job here, not to question Forbes Or Oscars professional integrity but can you imagine the possible Unseen back lash on Forbes if he pulled this off??Just speculating out loud but Things might get tough as far as Future promotions and career In general......"How dare you one up the Don" Now you sleep with the fishes Lol.
Agree big time...I do think the best thing Oscar could do is end it early and with little doubt.I think most expect it ,a re-tooling fight to get him back on track with Momentum carrying into Mayweather Rematch.Oscar runs the risk of negativity big time the longer it goes, catches a few too many,A cut,Looks slow against a capable speed guy in Forbes,Gets KD but Can not finish it.The worst thing I belive would be a Wiiiiide descision over 12.

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
I wont be there.... Can you believe they wanted 650 dlls. for Ringside seats to that?
I've had the great fortune to have seen ODLH fight in person, so I passed on this fight here.
Here are my picks....
ODLH TKO
Ortiz TKO
Garcia TKO
Jacobs TKO
Castro TKO
Sanchez UD
Paris UD
Wes UD

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
is it me or is steve forbes looking a worrying shade of blue??
To be honest being british we dont get to see too many of the other fighters so cant comment too much
ODLH to take control of the fight through 3-4 and have his man out of there by 8!!!
-
Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
Now that my shift rotation has been changed to include an 8am start on a Sunday morning, I might have to start considering what fights I stay up for and whether it's worth not getting much sleep.
I'm still undecided on this one, but if I'm up I sure as hell won't be too drunk.....sadly. :p
Oscar all the way for this one, unless he's gone downhill an awful lot it does smack a little of being a mismatch.
-
Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
Given that there was actually a "Countdown" to this fight (unbelievable)... the fact that De la Hoya will blow out this shorter, unknown nobody will come off as a sham.

Anyway, I'm going to stick my neck out and go for Forbes by brutal first round Knockout.

Good one, bro. I especially smiled at your use of the word "brutal" in your prediction.

I'll be honest, I generally pick fights by the hreat not the head.

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
No way Forbes can win, even if he technically beats Oscar by points the judges wont give him the desicion based on politics and who Delahoya is.. No way in hell Forbes is Koing Oscar, God I hope Forbes pulls it out, not interested in a Delahoya Mayweather 2

Nothing I would love more than seeing Forbes pull it out.Oscar really has set him self up as the shot caller.Gotta agree about Mayweather/DeLaHoya 2,I can not get excited about that at all.I am just Oscare'd Out. P.T Barnum would be envious ;D

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
Jacking up the post count to get in the big boys lounge! ;D
Hoping there is a free feed for this fight tonight.
-
Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
well...atleast Hoya was smart enough to pick on a small jr lightweight for a tune up compared to a full fleged middle like Sturm.
-
Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
I had a dream the other night that it was the first round and Oscar was winning the round but was kind of overconfident and was holding his hands lower than normal. Steve got inside and landed a huge overhand right that sent Oscar to the canvas. He got up on very shaky legs and the ref gave him a long count but he was in no shape to continue and the bout was stopped. Whats strange is I never usualy have dreams and when i do there never about boxing..

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
Deanrw or any other Canucks,
do you know if this fight is broadcast in Canada on TSN tonight, like the Calzaghe/Hopkins fight?
-
Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
Who's excited?
Just kidding.
-
Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
I just hope Forbes kicks his ass for overlooking him, whats that shit ODLH said... I'm never gonna look past an opponent again, then he later says Forbes is a good opponent he can "practice" some things on. WTF is that? If thats not taking someone lightly I don't know what is... GO FORBES KTFO of that pompous ass.

It's on PPV up here bro. What a fucking joke.
I hope Forbes hires Panama Lewis to do something shady, because that's the only way he's got a shot.

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
I haven't seen Steve Forbes fight in awhile. But last I saw him... he was pretty fast.
Oscar de la Hoya via controversial decision.
I can see Oscar looking like a slow prehistoric dinosaur compared to the even old Steve Forbes.
Oscar will always land those jabs, he just has never had it in him to stick with it and win.
He won't learn.
Also note, I'm rooting for Steve.... please no Oscar Floyd fight!

I'm rooting for Forbes too, but Oscar's just so much bigger than he is. If Grady Brewer could use his size to beat Forbes, ODH will destroy him if he doesn't carry him to get some rounds in before the PBF rematch.

Oscar won't carry Forbes. Forbes is too dangerous to keep around. Not that he has power, heheh. He's just a smart boxer, a veteran.
I hope Forbes can get past Oscar's size. Oscar's not that aggressive, unless Forbes gives him a clear opening, which I think Forbes won't. Oscar won't use his size like a Brewer.
We'll see though. :)

Re: Oscar de la Hoya Vs Steve Forbes Predictions, rd by rd and Results ETC
Nice last round in the last 10 sec of the Gamboa V Garcia fight. First time Garcia has been past 2 rounds. Went 6 rounds with Garcia dominating every round and knocking a brave Gamboa down who took the fight on a days notice. Garcia by UD.
