Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten pole steps in...
Latest turn of events reveals Ruben Williams claims he is unable to leave the US.
Undefeated polish fighter Albert Rybacki (15 wins, 8KOs) has stepped up in place.
Lets hope the Polish lad can bring something to the table. If not Witter/Bradley better come up trumps otherwise this is a nightmare for Hennessy and ITV.
BBC SPORT | Boxing | Froch will now face unbeaten Pole

Re: Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten poll steps in...
It couldn't really be any worse that Rubin Williams, even if they have to drag some drunk out of the crowd to fight Froch. At least then it would be a similar stylistic matchup. Last time I saw Rubin against Allan Green he did nothing at all, and apparently he played the role of punching bag again in his last fight with Ward. Sucks for Froch that he won't really get any meaningful exposure, but I don't think he's going to do much with his career anyways.

Re: Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten poll steps in...
Froch is jynxed . I duno if he will ever have any big fights.
Why doesnt he just go to the States and get himself a Yank promoter. Surely he has gotta be concerned that at this age he has still never met a good fighter .

Re: Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten poll steps in...
He could have fought Calzaghe a year ago but bottled the opportunity. He's got a world-class mouth only.

he still should have 4-5 years in him, have to echo what most have already said about frochy..
definite ability to become a world champion but other than that unless he learns to fight and be able to take the odd backward step i dont see him dominating any division or pulling up major trees.
Im sure though froch has it in him to go toe to toe with the very best in the world!!

Re: Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten poll steps in...
Ha i'd have liked to have seen him in with Calzaghe a year ago instead of that joke of a bout between Joe and Manfredo!

I'd probably agree with that but Im losing faith in him cuz of his inability to secure a big fight . Maybe its just frustration speaking but if Mick has got him this far at 30 then clearly he isnt doing his job . Get someone else!
I dont think he'd beat Kessler who IMO is the future of this division . Other than that Id give Froch a chance with anyone cuz when I have seen him he looks good. Problem is he has a shit defence and he hasnt beaten anyone decent yet !

Re: Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten poll steps in...
Well he'll get a title shot next if he wins, it'll probably be vacant but if he manages to win the WBC strap he'll have a decent baragaining chip by the end of the year, which isn't too bad since he's fought ABSOLUTELY NOONE!!
-
Re: Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten poll steps in...
Wow, he is doomed to fight a decent opponent.

I agree. I was disappointed in Williams being chosen as the opponent. I am glad he's out

Re: Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten poll steps in...
Unbelievable!
Didn't think it was possible this bill could get any worse "luck"
Froch is slow-ish starter but even he wont be able to carry a 37 year old nobody coming in on a few days notice.. then again there was that Aussie sheep farmer Dale Westerman that gave him problems ;D

Re: Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten pole steps in...
This is an absoulte fucking joke. What the fuck is going on, I am so pissed off!
ahhhhhhhhhhhh, I need to calm down.
Carl Froch will knock him out within 2 rounds.

Re: Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten pole steps in...
I ain't exactly Froch's biggest fan, but I am feeling abit for him. The one time he gets to fight on terrestrial tv and he can't get a decent opponent to make a statement to the division, the boxing world and the casual viewers who decide to watch the fight on the night on tv.

To be fair, he never was going to get a decent opponent on such short notice, I would have been very surprised if they'd persuaded Berrio to come over.

even so I would have preferred the Williams fight, than him fighting against a 37 year old unknown polish chap who barely beat someobody with just as many losses with wins. Its very unlucky for Carl because hes very prepared and hes fighting a guy who isnt known at all. At least the Amercians know Williams. I had never heard of this guy before tonight so I dont expect much from him. Carl needs a big KO here and also needs a very big next fight within the next 2 months IMO.

He`ll still have a decent nights work infront of him.
Froch and witter both desperately wanted to impress here. The only reason they are prime time terrestrial in the UK is because they come as a pack and probably wouldnt get the same billing on their own.
Hopefully this polish guy isnt a spoiler and wont ruin frochs big chance to shine infront of a large tv audience. He is in a tough position as many will now expect him to get this guy out of there quickly and not have too much hassle in doing so.
Problem is this guy is 37 and has probably been around the scene his whole life. He is also unbeaten therefore knows how to look after himself and i honestly fear the worst for froch here.
Obviously he isnt gonna get beat but if the class barrier is too big this pole may just rest on his laurels and turn the contest into a scrappy affair that results in it going the whole 12 and leaving the tabloids to ask further questions about froch.

Nor me, Froch has only ever said he wants Calzaghe and believes he's the man to beat him, but never heard of a possible fight comming off or talks held between both parties.

Think me and kirk discussed this the other week.
I for one cant see either JC taking a huge pay cut to fight regional opposition nor can i see froch turning down the biggest pay day of his life and the chance to make himself a well known name in the sport win or lose!!

Re: Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten pole steps in...
"I would have loved to fight Calzaghe in July and could have been ready. I could have gone back into training next week, but I don't think Calzaghe and his team wanted to risk sampling the power of my right uppercut!
"His promoter made an offer to me that I felt was derisory. They also turned down a very generous offer of 1.6 million from my promoter Mick Hennessy, which valued the fight at twice their amount if you work on the standard terms of the split for a purse bid.
FROCH HAS SURGERY | Sporting Life - Boxing News | Carl Froch, Junior Witter, Oscar De La Hoya, Joe Calzaghe, Amir Khan, Ricky Hatton, Manny Pacquiao
So Froch got offered a fantastic purse and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fight Calzaghe and bottled it. I already posted this when we were discussing it before.

Re: Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten pole steps in...
Rybacki's alias - according to BoxRec - is Quiet Man :-X
Does this mean he - of all people - has chosen John Ruiz as his idol? Probably not, seeing as Rybacki's is actually older than Ruiz...
Oh, well at least he has won all his (three) fights during the last 6 years. And in one of them he even stopped his opponent (30 seconds before time)!

If Froch is as good as he says he is he should have taken that fight because win or lose it would have got him onto the big stage and if he looked good he could have had a lot more pay days as a result.
For example when Zab Judh fought Spinks he was fight for next to nothing because he knew if he won it would get him back to the top.Big mistake by Froch.

Exactly, apart from it wasn't a "mistake" by Fraud, it was a careful calculation. Netting most of £200 000 to fight Calzaghe but letting Calzaghe burst his bubble makes him a busted flush. A bunch of defences of a belt he gets handed to him against no hopers in front of his deluded fans makes him a lot more cash.

Re: Williams pulls out of Froch fight.....Unbeaten pole steps in...
Froch will probably win by KO in the 1st round and still manage to look as beatable as can be.
