Smoking 350 joints a week can cause health problems!!!
Hahaha, I saw this somewhere else, brilliant science at work. For their test case these scientists have the patients smoke 78-350 joints a week :D Who the fuck does that, 350 joints a week is 50 a day. Even 78 a week is 11 joints a day. 11 joints a day, for a couple years I smoked fairly regularly and still do from time to time now, but 11 joints a day, maybe I wasn't as hardcore as I thought I was. :-\

Re: Smoking 350 joints a week can cause health problems!!!
Maybe there really tiny joints  Even then

Re: Smoking 350 joints a week can cause health problems!!!
Oh shit....i gotta cut down. Later, let's fire up 351

Re: Smoking 350 joints a week can cause health problems!!!
How silly. I almost guarantee my broke-ass ex girlfriend applied to be a test subject at that circus. I used to bust my ass everyday while she sat home and indulged in massive amounts of smoke. She used to get my pitbulls high:rolleyes: I'd come home and some of my dogs would be sitting there with their faces parked on the floor:(
1 joint will turn me green and make me vomit....I could not imagine smoking 70-350 a day; that's retarded. I'd love to meet those people so I could :LOLATYOU: at them.
Sorry, I meant a week not a day.
-
Re: Smoking 350 joints a week can cause health problems!!!
I only average 10 to 15 joints a week.
350 a week? Jeez. How many pound is that?
-
Re: Smoking 350 joints a week can cause health problems!!!
Hahahaha that is so great. That seems impossible to me I mean seriously. I'm trying to think of the most I have ever smoked in one day, and I don't even think that equates to 10 joints and if it does then it's no more then that.
Might as well just smoke blunts and stay high twice as long. The night of graduation I'm breaking out a half o blunt

Seriously. OK I could see if you didn't have a job and stayed home all day long just playing a video game or something, then maybe 11 if you were just trying to smoke a lot, but still, you'd be in a daze all day. 50 is totally off the charts.

Some studies have shown that smoking pot, while high in tar content, actually decreases your chances of getting lung-cancer because the THC kill off old, cancer-causing cells.

There have been many studies from many different researchers. I have a fair bit of faith in Harvard researchers.

There are so many studies that are wrong. Yes, from Harvard too. If someone has an agenda, a doctorate, whammo...you got a study. And then the lemmings pile on.
I think it is pretty irresponsible for anyone to try promoting doing drugs, smoking narcotics as a way to avoid cancer.

No ones promoting drug use, I don't even smoke weed anymore. All I'm saying is a have a lot more faith in Harvard researchers with no obvious agenda than I do in what the government tells me.
I don't think the point of the study was to encourage people to smoke pot, the point was to examine if there are medical benefits in the components of marijuana; benefits that have not been available to people suffering from serious, often fatal, illnesses because of some stupid government agenda. The things that the government "allows" us to have, like cigs are booze, are infinitely more harmful that marijuana.
How is someone a lemming for putting stock in documented research? I agree that you cannot put a ton of faith into one study, but when several studies show the same thing I don't think believing some aspects of those studies makes you a lemming. Believing to information force-fed to you by the government on the other hand...

I won't deny that marijuana is less harmful then other substances. If I have to have a choice between who is coming down the highway at me, a guy who just smoked 4 joints, and a dude who just polished off a 40 of Jack Daniels, well, the choice should be obvious.
Also, I do believe that in certain circumstances, that it has medicinal purposes...and I have even tried to get an older person I know with an acute case of MS to consider it. For it's pain relief and ability to increase appetite.
What I am suggesting is that we don't believe all studies, because they are from Harvard, or MIT, or Oxford etc.. Many studies are in fact agenda driven.
To suggest it may be used as preventative for cancer is worrisome to me. There are enough snake oil salesmen making money off of the fears of cancer and it's victims in this world as it is.
I plan on being a doctor one day. If I have any brains left from being smacked around in boxing, that is. :)

But if several reputable studies indicate that certain compounds found in marijuana may be helpful in cancer treatment/prevention, it certainly deserves to be looked into and further studied.

I think you're both right. Scientific studies will not neccessarily be wrong. However, even if i have faith in the majority of researchers you do have to look at the people who take their results and choose to interpret them in a particular way. People will cling onto the medicinal properties reported as a reason to use it which could be bad.
As with most things the dose which is best probably would need to be specified to suit the individual based on things like body weight and condition and I wouldn't be suprised if they're not still working that out.
I don't like the idea of smoking at all - pity the world was too addicted to cigarettes to ban them by the time the health problems were well known to the general public.
I don't know that alcohol is worse than marijuana since particular types of alcohol like red wine are also good for you in moderation thanks to it's antioxidants. A couple of glasses of the right type of alcohol occasionally could be considered healthy. It's still a case of dose and the form you choose to take it in as with everything.
I do think each to their own. The energy drink I'm guzzling at the moment to stay awake to get through my uni work is probably pretty bad for me so even though I guess i try to be fairly pedantic about my health few of us are perfect!

Re: Smoking 350 joints a week can cause health problems!!!
Starting in Jr High, all the way up until I got pregnant with my son, I was a major pothead! I would smoke pot every chance I got, before school (morning buzzes are the best!) in the bathroom between classes, lunch time, afterschool, then all night until I went to bed. Then once I was out of Sr High, if I wasn't at work, I was smoking pot. I played softball high, I bowled high, hell in between frames, I would run into the bathroom and do one hitters. :p
Basically, in my case at least, the more I smoked it, the more of an immunity I got from the effects. I would have to smoke a lot pot to get any kind of a buzz going.
So, even though that is an extreme amount, after awhile, it probably didn't have much of an effect, buzz wise, for the patients.

Re: Smoking 350 joints a week can cause health problems!!!
I dont think the drugs are less potent now, if anyhthing they are way more potent. You every smoke a doob with a guy that was smoking in the 60s and 70s? they will take 2 blasts and then they cant handle any more its just too strong for them nowadays.
those government studies are whack also because they use garbage gov weed that has a super low THC percentage compared to the good stuff like kush, HP that has a THC percentage of like 20-25%.
i just woke up and i feel kinda stoned already and thats without smoking anything.

end of the day you drink to much water and you can die, maybe we should ban that too?
lil bit of sense and as long as what your taking is the real thing, you will be fine;)
