Best fight you have been to?
Just wondering which fights you guys have seen live and which was the best for atmosphere, great quality bout etc??
I would say 'the full monty' was my first boxing event and it had the great bout between calzaghe v eubank and also naseem v jose badillo.
I also enjoyed the april 98 manchester card featuring nassem v Wilfredo Vazquez, herbie hide v damien reid +eubank v Carl Thompson

Re: Best fight you have been to?

Re: Best fight you have been to?
Best- Pavlik vs Taylor I
Worst- Klitschko vs Ibragimov
-
Re: Best fight you have been to?
Calzaghe Kessler was a wicked night...more like a football match though:confused:
-
Re: Best fight you have been to?
Juan Diaz vs. Acelino Freitas
-
Re: Best fight you have been to?
Probably Bika v Condrington. Something about getting paid extra for winning brings out a good fight.

I didnt think the atmosphere was that good i thought every1 was a bit up tight cause Joe kept getting caught. But it was a great fight.
Calzaghe v Lacy was good.
For me the best i've been to was Hatton - Mayweather that was brilliant just a shame he got beat.

Re: Best fight you have been to?
Must admit to being a complete arm chair fan.
Went to haye-bonin a few years back and got about a minute and a half of action before the fight was all over.
Am going to the hatton homecoming though and cannot wait :rocks::rocks:

Re: Best fight you have been to?
The atmosphere at Hattons fights are brilliant you will be hard pushed to find better at a boxing match.
-
Re: Best fight you have been to?
I'd say the best I've been to was Tarver vs Jones III.The crowd was very crazy but nice if you get me unlike an Eagles football game were everyone yell's at a little kid for wearing a Troy Aikman jersey.

Re: Best fight you have been to?
Well I don't have just 1, I have several I've been VERY lucky and fortunate to attend some special events.
In no particular order.
Chico vs. Castillo I - Sitting ringside for possibly THE GREATEST fight in the history of boxing to date. I'll carry that entire story of how I got the tickets all the way to watching the replay a few days later. That night I met Lacy, Winky, BCD, JCC Sr., JCC Jr., SSM, Toney, JMM, Beristain. Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong & Mexican actor Diego Luna.
RMarquez vs. Vasquez I - Sitting ringside for a candidate for FOTY 2007. My girl and I made the short trip to Carson. What a fight and what a night. Watching Vasquez drop Marquez and Marquez shaking it off and coming back on him. Then watching Marquez comeback and stop Vasquez. That night I met Erik, Floyd Sr., Julio Diaz, Bobby Chacon, Giovanni Segura. I also met Goldberg & Mario Lopez and his dancing girl.

RMarquez vs. Vasquez III - I would say sitting ringside but I broke the damn! chair so I couldn't sit down.... But it was electrifying there the atmosphere the celebs ringside the fight. It was just amazing to see and I can say I've been able to live out some events that not many people get to see and I'm thankful for it.

One fight that I really enjoyed that wasn't as spectacular as the others but def. was insane to be ringside for was:
Williams vs. Quintana - The upset special and Quintana kicked some ass. He was beating Paul from one side to the other. The chants and cheers were crazy. As the fight went on I kept telling myself, he's gonna beat 'em he's gonna beat 'em... and he did...

Re: Best fight you have been to?
Sadly enough, the closest I've come to seeing a live fight is watching sparring at the gym. There are almost never any decent fights around here. I was really disappointed when the Pacman fight in Vancouver fell through, I was ready to shell out some serious coin to see that.
-
Re: Best fight you have been to?
Marco Antonio Barrera-Kennedy Mckinney.
-
Re: Best fight you have been to?
I saw Pacquiao-Marquez 1 live.
We were yelling "TAPOSIN MO NA!.. TAPOSIN MO NA!". ;D

You're from around here? I had no idea. Like you, I was also thinking about catching the Julio-Smith fight, even though I'd have to take the ferry to Van (I hate the ferry) and find a place to stay, but I wasn't able to. One of these days though.

Re: Best fight you have been to?
I have had opportunities fall through for Boxing, been to MMA UFC before, seen Legionaries get kicked in the balls so hard it knocked him out;D
My 1st live fight is coming up next month Going to The Mohegan sun with my girl to see Williams vs Quintana II and Mora vs Forrest on June 7th
Should be a decent night of Boxing

Re: Best fight you have been to?
My only fight to ever see live, I fly to Vegas to see Hatton/Juan U. Also saw Castillo slip through a decision.
It was really really fun. I hooked up with some British people and drank alot.
I would like to see Winky fight sometime, but I am in school and he is getting old so I don't know.

I didn't realize that fight is at the Sun. Sounds like a good excuse for me to take a drive, play some blackjack, and watch Mora and Williams get their asses kicked.

Re: Best fight you have been to?
Well like some of you here, we don't get $hit when it comes to fights here, and I can't afford to travel to fights. So when Don King actually brought a fight card to Cleveland 2 years ago, I jumped on the chance to go.
It was the Lamon Brewster vs Serguei Lyakhovich title fight. I think that I got pretty lucky with this fight, considering there haven't been many great heavyweight fights lately. This was a great fight to see. Both fighters kept getting hurt, and then kept coming back. The crowd was on their feet for most of this fight, and was totally into it. It was also my sons first live fight experience, because I took him for his birthday.
They actually had some decent scraps on the undercard as well.
I keep hearing Uncle Bob saying that he wants to bring a fight to Cleveland for Kelly Pavlik, but unfortunately, he hasn't come through on that yet. :(

Re: Best fight you have been to?
Audley Harrison - Donnell Wiggins :cwm13:

Yeah, I know why you thought that. ;D
But as you can see, I have the Ohio flag by my avatar, and I do have my location listed as "Ohio". ;)
Hell, if I lived in LA, I sure as hell would be going to every big fight there, and in Vegas.

I guess being at all perceptive or literate would've helped me out there. :-\

Re: Best fight you have been to?
Bit jealous of anyone who lives close to where big name fights happen. We get nothing here in Butfook Northern Ontario. Don't think we get much in Canada period. I know there was a Steve Molitor fight in Windsor not long ago...:-\ ...

At least you're relatively close to Montreal, where some bigish fights take place. Living on an Island in B.C., I'm about as far away as you can get.
