Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.
Just because I'm bored list your top 5 favourite British fighters and why, and then your least five and why.
I'll start.
Top 5
1. Carl Froch, my favourite fighter, exciting, arrogant, has little respect for his opponents power keeping his hands low, inviting them in and then smoking them with lethal uppercuts. His ring entrances are quality as well.
2. Joe Calzaghe, probably our greatest ever fighter. A living legend, although I have to say I don't find his fights all that exciting truth be told, with the exception of Lacy and a couple others.
3. Carl Johanneson. Obviously not for ability but I've always warmed to the kid. Shy, limited technically and vulnurable but a big heart and always in exciting fights.
4. Amir Khan, a ton of potential, fast, slick, exciting, Our best prospect by far.
5. Matt Skelton. Fat, old, no skill, slow plodder but I really respect his dedication to the sport, not even turning pro until his mid thirties and still putting a world title run together. Of course he's very limited but he's the only one of our heavies who shows the sport respect by always coming into his fights prepared and willing to give 100 percent.
Least 5.
1. David Haye. I'm literally salivating at the thought of him having his head punched to the canvas in a brutal fistic assualt from Wladimir Klitschko in the not too distant future. Some kinds of arrogance I don't mind, but pretty boy arrogance I can't stand. Haye is tall, good looking, flash, well dressed, popular with the ladies, in short everything I despise in a man. He needs to be retired for the good of every short, dumpy, plain looking nobody like myself.
2. Ricky Hatton. Nobody in the sport of boxing bores me more. He's the media darling of British Sport, making appearances on Johnathon Ross, A Question of Sport, Parkinson, even Gordon Ramsey's F Word. And why exactly is he so popular? Merely because he's fat, likes to drink beer, play darts and is like the typical fat, beer swilling, football supporting dullard who exists in the pubs and on the terraces around the country every single weekend. :cwm33:
3. Derry Matthews. He's a dirty fighter, he's a scouser, enough said.
4. Audley Harrison. A waste of talent. No heart and could be about to get the most undeserving heavyweight title shot in the history of heavyweight boxing.
5. Kevin Anderson. He's just shit. Gavin Rees could move up and hand him his ass. Useless.

Re: Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.
Favorites
Joe Calzaghe- 1st Ballot Hall Of Famer, 2nd best Suppermiddle of all time, Undefeated 10 year reigning champ and Universaly Recognized Lineal Champ of SuperMiddle and Lightheavy.. And the fighter that has fought through and silenced all the critics and wheile we were in Awe he did it a swagger that proved he was the best all along.
David Haye- Fuck the Haters, the guy is the most exciting thing to come along since Roy in his prime from 175 up, He has it all looks, money, Fame arrogance and helacious power... I will take him to be champion over Mr Roboto anyday of the weak... The division is buzzing again and it aint because of Tony Thompson, Eddie Cambers and Povetkin... Its Cause of the HayeMaker..
Least
Carl Froch- The guy is a defenseless retard that Makes Jeff Lacy's look like Winky Wright... He is nothing more than the 168 version of Vic Darchinyian a guy who is gonna get violently knocked out when he steps it up in class
Indifference
Ricky Hatton- Like him for his tenacity and good guy approach and class.. Dont really think he has much outstandidg skill
Junior Witter- Colossal dissapointment and laid a goose egg on American TV and has flushed his shot with Hatton down the toilet, which he wouldnt have gotten any way seeing Hatton was ducking him
Amir Kahn- the jury is still out on him

Hahaha funny stuff!!
I aint one to like cockyness really. I used to like Naz as a kid but his cockyness made me start to hate him and i was happy barrera put him down a peg or two.
But with Haye its different. He's making himself heard in the division and he's willing to go places and do the business without avoiding it. If he gets his ass kicked then so be it, but at least he has the willingness and ambition to try and achieve the most he can!
Anyway as you pointed out he has quite alot going for him,a dn your just jealous!!!:D

Lewis is my all time favourite British fighter but if we are talking current then
Favourite - Joe Calzaghe
Always knew he was world class ever since he was knocking out bums. Glad he has had such a succesful career
Least favourite - Amir Kahn
I dont like his arrogance or the fact that he has been given such a head start over other young pros . Given such hype despite the fact he hasnt beaten anyone decent yet. Its not as if he won the gold medal .

Las Vegas is NOT in America? You need geography lessons. Hopkins was 43.. that's because it took him YEARS to get the balls to face Calzaghe.
And by the way

Re: Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.
My favorite has always been Nigel Benn. He was wild and crazy in there, had one punch power and fought till either his opponent or himself was out cold.
True warrior.:)
Least Favorite. Chris Eubank. Those freaking gay ass poses and his personality just stunk. He always thought he was too good for the sport. Good Riddance Chris.

Listen we know you are the biggest Hopkins Apologist. He lost and thats it all the cutesy pictures the coulda, woulda, 43 this 43 that, Blah blah blah.. To me Hopkins tarnished himself farther by overexaggerating a lowblow that was on the beltline:rolleyes: What a moron

NO
Didn't you hear - Hopkins has been nominated for an OSCAR!
Hopkins FAKED getting hit by low blows because he was praying (look at him) the ref would save him from Joe's "slaps".. the old boy has always been smart
-
Re: Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.
You ever been hit down there?
I mean by a champion caliber fighter?

Sorry, even the Calzeghe apologists at the Guardian reported it as low
-
Re: Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.
-
Re: Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.
Sorry,Im looking at the shot right now
I dont think it was deliberate,Joe was trying to pull away from a hook when he threw the shot, and I think Bernard probably helped by stepping in to it,but that was definitly low
Joes trying to go away, and Bernard was trying to prusue,Mr Hand, meet Mr Groin,I dont even think with the position of his head,Joe can even see where he's throwing
-
Re: Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.
No I have one of those Pussy MMA pedigree's only been been accidently kicked in the balls about 100 times.. Which probably dont amout to a Calzaghe punch;D
-
Re: Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.
I don't like Haye either. But imo, he's got tools to beat Wlad.
-
Re: Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.
Favorite: Hamed - got me into boxing
2nd: Lewis - his domination and the way he just presented himself
3rd: Hatton - he is one of the boys
least: cant think of any

Probably not, considering the way it landed
I dont dislike Joe personally, though his fans would love for me to,and from what I hear he's a nice guy
He's a solid fighter
And Bernard definitly gassed himself in the second half of that fight
I cant stand Warren
And Joe is usually content to get the decision, now he might not have had the punch to put Bernard down,it hasnt happened yet,but I would have preferred to see the instinct to want to drop him. Its an annoying style to watch.
Why does not enjoying a guys style, has to immediatly translate to this kind of nationalistic goosestepping crap.
I fully understand not everyone enjoys Bernards style, since he's gotten older he picks and nits way more then he did when he was younger.
In all honesty I wanted him to retire after beating Tarver,he suffers from old boxer syndrome.
Youve spent so much of your life in the gym,you dont know what else to do with yourself.
Other notable sufferers,Ali,Duran,Holmes,Leanord,Hearns,etc,etc, etc
But dont make getting your head taken off in the first round and surviving to a split decision against a 43 year old man in to "Hail the conquering hero"
And Id avoid making me a Hopkins apologist,I said before the fight I thought he would lose, and I was one of the only B-hop fans to say after the fight,"I think he lost"

Re: Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.
Favs.
1) Ricky Hatton - I really don't need to explain.
2) Paul Smith - family, scouser.
3) David Haye - Exciting and backs up his talk, awesome power.
3) Anthony Small - The guy is great comedy, how could you not like him ??
4) Colin Lynes - great personality, great role model.
Least.
Junior Witter - Cocky, arrogant cunt who calls people out and can't back up his talk.
Joe Calzaghe - Only faced one legitimate threat in 44 fights (Kessler) and a 43 year old doesn't count.
-
Re: Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.
I don't know if I even like Haye but for the purpose of this list I will say Haye. Then Hatton but again I don't even like watching Hatton fight.
Least favorite is a much easier list to compile. Calzaghe tops it and then it's Froch easy.

Re: Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.
How can you seriously dislike Hatton?
A guy who sells out 56,000 tickets and brings such attention to the sport and provides such thrilling fights. Bilbo what are you on? Is it like 'I only like fighters who half sell out York Hall?
'I dont like Hatton, he drinks beer'
So you only like boxers who dedicate them to the sport and cite as number one Calzaghe. Who has called off more fights Hatton or Calzaghe through injury?
Fighters I like btw:
Hatton, Haye, Calazgaghe, Froch, Witter, Khan, Jennings.

Re: Favourite and Least Favourite British Fighters and Why.

1 Calzaghe
2 Alex Arthur - dont think he's a world beater but he's in great fights!
3 Enzo Mac - got sparked but he'll be back

Audley Harrision - boxer thats afraid to get hit, waste of talent
Naz - hated him
Carl Froch - don't really know why I dislike him but I do ;D
