I've always thought Torres would give Hatton a very good fight and could KO him especially with Hatton's leaky defense and Torres power, but now this match up is looking worse and worse for Hatton IMO. Getting wobbled by naturally smaller Lazcano and looking like a shot fighter whats your thoughts on this ??
I don't think so. I mean you need to see the fight yourself mate to see whether you think Hatton's shot but IMO he ain't shot.
He has the power to do it. But he might not get the chance. Torres has a very difficult fight with Holt coming up. I had Holt ahead before he got stopped in there first fight. I can see Holt winning the rematch
Yea i agree with that i don't fancy his chances against Holt either in a rematch, but in a way im hoping Torres wins because i think Hatton vs Torres is one of the most entertaining fights to be made at 140, and Torres is the only real Jr Welterweight that can bang he has the kind of power that can turn a fight around with 1 punch. I've always said this even before Lazcano fight that Torres vs Hatton needs to be made.Quote:

I would say so, Torres is one hell of a fighter. His one loss was almost a KO of Cotto, granted I thought Holt got shafted looking forward for that rematch. But 140 actually has some talent, Holt, Torres, and Ortiz. I agree with VD that Victor Ortiz will prob be rulling this division very soon.
yes if lazcono coming off 15 month layoff can hurt him

I dont think Torres would be able to handle rickys pace for 12 rounds though. No way he could demonstrate a chin like Juan Lazcano had. I think it would be a good fight whilst it was lasting but Hatton would knockout him out mid to late rounds.

I agree with that Mick. If I was a Hatton fan I'd be nervous watching this one cause of Torres power in the left hook but I don't really think Torres is that good over all. If Hatton could fight a little smarter and hang on when he gets hurt he could definitely come on late.
Mick when i said shot fighter i was going by what people said on here, now i have just watched the fight for the first time today i totally disagree with people calling Hatton shot fighter. I think Hatton looked good throwing double hooks to the body and his free flowing combinations, i said Lazcano would give Hatton some trouble and that was good for Hatton, that he went 12 competitive rounds in his comeback fight.Quote:

Hatton is yet again making a mistake by leaping in with his chin in the air and he was caught with the exact same punch Mayweather floored him with, "Check Left Hook". I did notice Torres was having some problems taking body shots from Cotto but lets remember Torres did only take that fight on 2 weeks notice so that may of had something to do with it but i don't know im just speculating.
I think Torres would have a great chance at KO'ing Hatton and i have said this even before Hatton's fight with Lazcano, Torres is the only real fighter at Jr Welterweight that can bang hard enough to KO Hatton. And with Hatton's leaky defense i think thats strong possibility that Torres could end the fight quickly before Hatton gets a chance to work on his midsection but we will see.

Hattons gonna eat left hooks and someone who can hook well and take his arsenal wil beat him. It should also be noted that Lazcano is a hard puncher regardless if he fought at Lightweight that was years ago. He's now at 140 and has been there for years.

Everyone keeps using the tszyu fight as hattons benchmark. That particular fight worked well for ricky because the 2 styles were so similar and it was rickys age and aggression that got him through that night against probably a much better technical exponent that lady time caught up with.

Hatton's young. He gets tired TOO easy. It's not like he's a Frazier, who had HELL fights, before you could see that he aged. Hell, Frazier could fight when he was 30. Hatton has had stamina problems years ago, heh, which is pretty pathetic. Even by the standards of today, when fighters ONLY fight at most twice a year. Hatton just barely started sparring, so the sparring hasn't aged him. And his fights were busy in the past, but they weren't wear and tear fights. They weren't wars at all. This is even before the Floyd KO, he's been struggling with stamina, even before Collazo he didn't have a "war" type fight.
Who knows, maybe Hatton's taking drugs. heh
