Family Guy is the best!
I love Family Guy, but voted for the Simpsons. Yeah the have faded over the past few years, but once in a while they still come out with a gem.
Simspons in the early-mid 90's was a beast! From late 90's on it has sucked imo, havent tried watching it in years. But in it's prime I thought the Simpsons was the best.
Winner with me is without a doubt South Park. Not only do I think it is the funniest, but it is easily the most high brow of all the shows. Its pretty much the only show on tv I'll make an effort to watch. I dont watch much tv.
I think Family guy is the same joke over and over, just presented in slightly different ways. I cant keep attention to watch a full episode of it :-X
I love the Simpsons but right now South Park is on top because they are funny but also tell a moral story which is usually a recent big issue in life and makes it being funny and a little warped even better.
Family Guy and American Dad are just Seth Macfarlane's nonsensical liberal blatherings. The Simpsons always has SOME liberal views and I understand and respect it but Family Guy berates and belittles anyone who doesn't share the same views of Seth Macfarlane....he uses those shows to grandstand and I am just tired of his same old "You think THAT's bad....what about the time _____________" or "This is almost as (good, bad, easy, hard, fun, etc.) as the time ____________"
Futurama is ok...I'm not a huge fan.
Aqua Teen and Venture Brothers and Frisky Dingo are funny as hell though
I like Futurerama best, Family Guy used to be my favorite but they get over board with how stupid Peter is. I think Bender is what makes me such a Futurerama fan.
The Simpsons
There is an episode of Futurama (or part of it) from Season 5, which I first saw last year on youtube, that got me hooked on the show. It is the ending to the episode called "Jurassic Bark". It was probably one of the most sentimental moments I have ever seen on tv, or even movies.
For the last 1/2 hr or so I have been searching for it, the 4-5 mins or so of what it would take to capture it's brilliance, but apparantly Groening and Co. have wiped it off the internet.
So I am right now DL'ing the whole episode. I'll edit it tomorrow, then upload it, and put it up here. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then it is a must watch. If you do, and you 'get it'...then you'll be here to see it again.
...I can't stand that episode dude....it's too fucking sad.....Youngblood, I don't have it in me to feel sorry for people I don't remotely come close to knowing when I have enough trouble keeping myself happy.
My dog biff is my first dog I've ever had and I don't even want to think of the day he's going to as my brother puts it "run off and join the circus"....that sounds better than the reality of the situation doesn't it?
ALL good but family guy is best for me.
Yea Lyle, I hear ya. I had a few pets I was told "'sent them to a better place...a farm! I'm sorry. But now they can run all day and with other animals, and chase butteflies with other puppy dogs! and eat steak bones until they tire of it!"...etc...
One in particular was what brought me to my connection with this episode. I found him a few years back, frozen in a snowbank awaiting garbage removal day by accident, after following the footsteps leading out to behind the shed. His name was Fred. Met with a chevy or w/e on the road and my dad didn't have the heart to tell me.
Was my best friend for 6 years, so, yea.
I think this episode captures that feeling well, pet or not, and yes...I just watched it...and it made me, erm, think. So I'm going to post it tomorrow.
I voted family guy, but after seeing blue harvest last night nearly wanted to change to South Park. Family guy is funny due to the flashbacks, which is the best thing about the show. Southpark is great because it pushes people to the point that it's funny, like the morman episode "dum dum dum dum" haha classic. Those two are my favourite followed by american dad, futurama and then simpsons. Sort of grown out of that show now.
This is the whole episode. It was not easy to find. Watch the whole thing if you want, but for the magic in it, load it, then go to 15:25 or so and watch it from there until the end.
Fliqz - We power video
my favorite would be South Park with Family guy a very close second,
only started watching American Dad and am a big fan already!
Simpsons is a all time classic but personally lost intrest a few seasons ago although I thought the movie was great. Haven't seen many Futurama's but like when its on on Sundays, good hangover material!!
Definitely Simpsons...those other shows are all good and funny, but Simpsons was there first and probably will be the last to go...
You said it!!! I personally like the clips in Family Guy.
I used to like The Simpsons the best, because even though Family Guy had been out for years (since 1999), I never really got into it. But after buying a DVD set it, (not all that) slowly but surely I started getting into it more and more, it was hilarious.
The Simpsons has too many slow spots and boring moments compared to FG.
these days family guy definitely, my favourite show now. Back in the day the simpsons, although all shows are good.
Family guy, in a good show is unrivalled by any other show.
The Simpsons however are esential viewing in any adolescents life.
Family Guy is nowhere near as good as South Park!
Family Guy is preachy and the random flashbacks are sophmoric and over done. I could make anything seemingly funny with no talent whatsoever by doing what family guy does Seth Macfarlane will never run out of ideas because he never had any ideas to begin with!
South Park is on the money all the time!
I think South Park is morre juvenille as it relies on gore, shock value and foul language as it's primary props.
I went through a phase where I liked Southpark a lot, but it quickly passed.
At first I felt the implementation of "flashbacks" was overdone in Family Guy and they relied to heavily on this technique.
But I feel they've made it their own and created a new comedic technique.
Another reason I selected Family guy was because it is more "current" I have watched endless repeats of Southpark and the Simpsons and am just frustrated with their repetition.
American Dad just falls short of the mark.
Family Guy is current?!?! South Park ran the Terri Schiavo episode like right after that actually happened!
Family Guy fucking sucks! Every episode is the same!!!!
Seth Macfarlane and Seth Green are jackasses
I didn't say "I'm not one to judge"...I am one to judge as a consumer of their product and therefore I can praise or criticize their product when I feel like it.
American Dad isn't on par with any of the other shows, even Family Guy...I watch it if there is nothing else on but I like South Park and The Simpsons better and then there are a couple more shows I like before I get to Family Guy....American Dad is crap
