Re: The thread that HitmanHammerCan'tRead
No seriously you guys I am real bummed out about my law school grades. I got a "C" this semester and it dropped my GPA down to a 3.56. I know that doesn't sound like that big of a deal but I had been working really hard on my law school stuff and had all A's up to this point and I got a C in Civil Procedure.
I just want to cry but I guess it will keep me motivated like Glen Johnson. It is disappointing when I thought I knew it so well.
Didn't know who else to tell so I thought I would post the Boozeboxer's disappointment.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Use it as motivation to rebound, you'll be fine. I got some shitty grades early in the university life, it took a bit of time, but I got my GPA up to a decent level (its at about a B+/A- average right now). Considering you're in law school and you've only gotten one "C", you're already doing better than 90% of the population in regards to your future prospects, that's something to feel good about.
Plus, you're obviously more intelligent than the average human as you are a fan of Winky Wright.

I dropped out twice before I actually stuck with it. The massive amounts of chemicals I was ingesting may have had something to do with my inability to attend classes though.

He says some things that strike me as a bit odd but he says them in such a confident way. ;D Like "James Kirkland has a lot of Jermain Taylor about him" which initially makes you think  but the way he says it is like its the most obvious self evident thing to say.

Re: The thread that HitmanHammerCan'tRead
Well today I attended the last class of high school I'll ever have to take. Pretty nice but don't get my diploma for a week. Now to be neck deep in college classes in the fall. Oh well, at least I'll have some independence. High school, the school aspect of it, is just shit.

Holy shit, I just noticed I'm over 2,000 posts now. The last 1,000 went way faster than the first 1,000.
No need to rep me or anything, I just felt like announcing it :)

Re: The thread that HitmanHammerCan'tRead
Thanks. High school was ok, I realize that nothing is like high school but really how great is it? Before this semester's fairly light schedule I would just leave at lunch anyways. All the friends I have I'm retaining and most everyone in the school is probably going where I am anyways.
I'm going to Santa Rosa Junior College, not exactly glamorous in title but it's one of the better junior colleges in the country and that's what most people are doing. After 2 years hopefully I can transfer to somewhere like Oregon (got accepted already so shouldn't be to much of a problem in 2 years) but so much can change between now and then. I'm majoring in journalism.
Also, I've been on 7500 posts forever. Not really but it seems that way, I can't believe I don't have 10,000 posts, really.

I hated high-school. I wasn't picked on or anything like that, but I couldn't stand all the rules etc. Might have had something to do with going to a private school... I've never understood people who view high-school as the pinnacle of their existence. That seems sad to me. Though it is true that you'll never be as unfettered and as free of responsibility and obligation as you were in high school, its more than a fair trade-off IMO.
Don't feel bad about going to a Jr College, I recently finished 2 years at a highly regarded community college because I spent most of high school getting laid and high instead of doing homework. Nothing wrong with a Jr. College, you'll save a ton of money and most likely will make a lot of contacts by having smaller classes and thus a much more personal relationship with your profs. That made a huge difference for me, I'm probably better off for going to college first instead of right to University. Many of the opportunities I have are because of those relationships with my profs. Anyone can get good grades, but good contacts/relationships create a great deal of opportunity.
Good luck with the journalism, are you looking to specialize in sports/boxing or just get a general degree and see where it takes you?
-
Re: The thread that HitmanHammerCan'tRead
Definitely looking to be a sports journalist. I had an internship last fall where I worked in the newsrooms and that's great but I would much rather just do work from the road. I'll be in school a while, 4 years and then probably a graduate program of some sort after that so it's nice to have 2 years here of jc work where I'll be able to take it a little easier and not have to move out on my own quite yet.

Re: The thread that HitmanHammerCan'tRead
I had fun in high school actually, mainly senior year.
-
Re: The thread that HitmanHammerCan'tRead
High school was okay, especially my senior year, because I was able to drive to school most of the time. But it wasn't the "best years" of my life.

Maybe you did not give it 100% of your concentration. When I had my law subjects way back in college, I had no time joining forums. hehehe.
After I finish my doctoral degree, I am also planning of taking up law. I love reading law books.;) I also love memorizing them.;D

Me too. College is a breeze. I get almost all A's, I even got an A+ this last semester (95%+), in high-school I was lucky if I got straight C's. It's probably because I'm actually interested in the subjects and not being force-fed it like in highschool. The fact that I'm paying thousands of dollars to attend might also be factoring in in regards to my determination.
-
Re: The thread that HitmanHammerCan'tRead
I figured college was harder because the subjects are even more advanced than in high school, plus your assigned loads more homework.
But then again, you guys have a point. You're not being forced to take the courses, plus they can even be interesting.
Another thing that might make it easier is only having to take a few courses at once...

Re: The thread that HitmanHammerCan'tRead
Yeah, Hammer isn't the nicest person. That being said, we all knew Daxx's 'retirement' wasn't for permanent....so it wasn't nearly so tragic as we would make out.
I think he may be getting better though. He just came in and is an uneducated rabid fan. Hopefully he can turn that enthusiasm for one particular fighter into a great appreciation for the whole sport and its fans and become a solid poster.

Might be a little late, but Law school gets progressively easier after your first year, which I assume you are in if your taking civ-pro. There is plenty of time to make it up.
