I remember when he was a Light Heavyweight. his fights were on British tv a lot. remember him getting wobbled by Frankie Swindell. that said Moorer would eat one boiled egg each day to make the weight.
Also remember him koing so poor sod in the first round then just causally stepping over his unconscious body.
Re: Michael Moorer Fights At Light Heavyweight: Do they even exist?
the only footages i've seen of moorer at 175 were at hbo legendary nights foreman-moore episode, the man was a monster in light heavyweight.

I have 1 on VHS the guy had a mullet. No further details sorry
Re: Michael Moorer Fights At Light Heavyweight: Do they even exist?
The 1 thing that sticks out the most about Moorer is that he was 1st 'southpaw' HW Champ...
I think it's a bit strange that the sport went through soo many years without a southpaw HW Champ.
Re: Michael Moorer Fights At Light Heavyweight: Do they even exist?
They did show his fights on ITV, he would destroy everyone very early, he was a monster puncher at the weight. I remember not setting the VHS as he destroyed someone in about 30 seconds. He was struggling to make weight so he did not have time to unify.
Re: Michael Moorer Fights At Light Heavyweight: Do they even exist?
Michael Moorer was possibly the most destructive light heavyweight in the history of the sport !

Didnt Joe Hipp hold the WBF title? He was a southpaw.
Re: Michael Moorer Fights At Light Heavyweight: Do they even exist?
im guesing he means a recognised title (ibf,Wbc,Wba or Wbo)

Frazier was a lefty, that fought from SDouthpaw occasionally, if that counts.

Pretty sure Tyson was a converted southpaw as well.

The Reason You Are Called A Southpaw Is Becuase You Fight As One , Not Because U Have Converted To A Different Stance , So Yes Moorer Was The First Real Hw Champ As A Southpaw.

Well yes and no. Of course your right, but Tyson, Hagler, Frazier and Oscar(the only converted southpaws I know of) all had extremely powerful jabs and left hooks, which was due to it being their more natural arm. Had they not been southpaws they likely wouldn't have fought the same way..

Frazier often fought southpaw.

He was indeed a killer at 175.
His jab, especially was a punisher.
It's just a shame that he had to kill himself to make the weight.
Re: Michael Moorer Fights At Light Heavyweight: Do they even exist?
For me one of biggest misses of that time was not seeing a zoned force like Moorer getting crack at a Czyz, Williams or Hill among others. Williams seemingly wanted nothing to do with anyone stateside and he and Hill came close, then Hill opted for bigger name & payday in 'old' Hearns. Oops.

He was a beast but he was not tested and Williams would have hung in there and maybe pulled out a victory. Either way it would have been good. Moorer jumped straight to heavyweight which meant he was boiling down too much and had to end fights quickly.

Weight was killing him, hvy was planned for sometime. Have flip flopped since, hindsight being 20-20 ;D and think Hill would have given him stifer fight and frustrated him big with movement. Williams tk'd Czyz and then sort of went into preserve trinket mode, but huge experience on Moorer who was flustered with Allen and Stewart before nasty power came on. Would have been interesting.
