If these fights happen, I'll be extremely happy.

Your asking for too much in so little time. heh
Don't get your hopes up, but Juan Diaz vs Katsidis ... too awesome.

Re: Nice fights at Lightweight are finally happening.
Tough break for Campbell if it's really Guzman that he's facing. I like Nate but Guzman is one of the most talented fighters on this planet. If P4P rankings were based on talent and talent alone he would have to be number 2 on my list.
Can't say I'm all that excited for JMM-Casamayor as it is only a prelude to a 3rd JMM-Pacquiao bout which is OK I guess but I would just like to see Pacquiao fight a decent fighter that isn't JMM, Morales or Barrera. I don't mind that he fights them but when the fillers are Oscar Larios, David Diaz and Jorge Solis it really sours it all for me. I'll probably take a little leave when that fight gets made too unless JMM wins.
I think JMM will win that Casamayor fight but I would love to see Casamayor take it. Not that he's a great guy but it just seems he deserves it. One of the most underappreciated fighters in the game.
Diaz-Katsidis is just a great fight and a rough one. It's tough for either fighter to take consecutive losses. I think Katsidis can stand to lose more and I think he will ultimately lose but he is a strong guy who never stops and has a punch. Great matchmaking I wish they could have done it when they both had 0's.

Re: Nice fights at Lightweight are finally happening.
Katsidis doesn't stand a chance against Juan Diaz. I can't expound upon it much more he just doesn't have it and will get ko'd pretty quickly.
I still think Juan Diaz is the best lightweight right now. Campbell took advantage of lousy officiating and used illegal head butts to take Diaz out of it. I think a rematch will prove that.
I completely agree about Joan Guzman being an underated talent. Anyone who can outbox Humberto Soto that easily is scary. I predict he'll be heavily avoided even after he wins a belt.
I'll tell you what great lightweight fight I'm not looking forward to and that's David Diaz / Pac. Still not sold on D Diaz and I'm worried what Pac will do to him.

Re: Nice fights at Lightweight are finally happening.
Wow!!!
They're some great fights!
Golden Boy will make a killing on these!
Like the sound of Juan vs. Katsidis!

Re: Nice fights at Lightweight are finally happening.
I'd love Casamasyor (sp) to clean up the Lightweight divison.

Yeah If these fights all happen (which I doubt) the 135 will be the division of the year.

Campbell beat the shit out of Diaz. He did it by beating him at his own game, not because of the ref. Diaz had no plan B and he lost heart quickly when it became apparent that he couldn't bully Campbell.

true, would have been better if he had said diaz underestimated campbell and didn't train all that well. i really wouldn't expect the same result if a rematch happens.

I really don't see a rematch going much differently. Diaz only seems to know one way to fight, Campbell showed he could handle it and he isn't the type of guy whose spirit is easily broken. Diaz doesn't have the power to hurt Campbell, but Campbell demonstrated that he had enough power to hurt Diaz. I was honestly surprised that Diaz made it to the final bell.

i think the cut diaz sustained also has something to do with his performance plus the fact he didn't expect campbell to be so tough unlike when he(campbell) faced kelly. i honestly believe it would be a more competetive rematch if it does happen.

Now, now...
Where are ALL those Anti-GBP people at who all they do is post the negatives about GBP but when the positives arise they don't even bother peeking in...
When GBP is wrong they are wrong. When PDL did an interview saying GBP wasn't meeting his needs I agreed. It seemed like he wasn't getting any of the big fights and was inactive. Then last year he foughts 4 times and made really good money he opened a restaurant and hes happy.
It is, what it is...

Re: Nice fights at Lightweight are finally happening.
Id settle for nearly any one of those fights.
Think from a spectator view- Juam Diaz- Katsidis would be the best to watch. I give Katsidis a good chance. Katsidis doesnt have great boxing skills but Juan will probably be in his face so Katsidis wouldnt have to go looking. All about styles.
Guzman- Campbell could go either way. If any of these happen would be good.

WHOA JMM vs Casamayor? NiCE!
-
Re: Nice fights at Lightweight are finally happening.
Guzman V Campbell is a hard one to pick as Campbell is inconsistent, Campbell has gained enormous respect for his efforts these past twelve months and might get the win in a close one.
The K man would have learned from his mistake against Casamayor and i pick him to win against Diaz. Great fights!
-
Re: Nice fights at Lightweight are finally happening.
Are these signed ?? Awesome fights all around,But I still think Santa-Cruz deserves another huge fight after Casa was rewarded early Christmas.I think Diaz will have an uphill battle with his iffy power and Lack of diverse gears.Prior to Kats loss and Diaz loss.......this was on paper a furious styles match up,guaranteed pace and mass output. It could still be a nice one but I think Kats can get through on Diaz with body assault.Diaz has not shown great ability to fight backing up and lacks the power to detour Kats......Interesting to see Kats back in the ring 1st,sometimes when a guy is flattened like he was Vs. Casamayor Its akin to a door that will not close again??
I Like Campbell alot but he Is hot & cold,I can envision him Beating Guzman but he will have to come forward strong and Guzman might just pot-shot him ugly then slide away......rinse repeat etc.
-
Re: Nice fights at Lightweight are finally happening.
I would take Casamayor and Diaz if those fights come off
-
Re: Nice fights at Lightweight are finally happening.
Awesome fights. JMM v Cs:both are past their peak but would be =awesome.KATS V Diaz=war! And Guzman v Nate=beautiful clash of styles.
Likelihood of these fights actually being made? I'm sceptical to say the least!
-
Re: Nice fights at Lightweight are finally happening.
Guzman just needs a chance. Campbell's a good fighter but he doesn't match up well in that to me.
Diaz-Katsidis would be good but that's a tough spot, two young, exciting guys, wouldn't help to have two losses in a row.

Guns of August--Campbell Vs. GuzmanJoel Casamayor Lets Deadline Pass, Looks To Juan Manuel Marquez For Oct. 11!
Michael Marley

http://www.boxingconfidential.com/ne...iao_731658.jpgYou can call this one a reconfirmation of a reconfirmation of a Boxingconfidential.com scoop.
Insiders in the Joel Casamayor camp said Monday night that the slick Cubano southpaw did not return a signed contract to the WBO or to Don King. The reason being, of course as we’ve kept reporting, is Casamayor is letting his WBO interim lightweight title status go bye-bye. Casamayor will stay “in house” with Golden Boy to fight Mexican ringmaster Juan Manuel Marquez. Likely date continues to be Oct. 11. Read more...

No doubt,The last thing he should be looking at is Pac fight and should be steely eyed and focused On Guzman...If not He might be looking up at the lights off his back.
Any reason given why Casa was stripped??I had seen earlier on Boxrec that a Rematch was on schedule with Katsidis ??

I'm pretty sure that Campbell was Casa's mandatory.

Re: Nice fights at Lightweight are finally happening.
Casa vs JMM: This is a tough one for me to figure out. I think I would favor Casamayor. His dirty fighting might bother JMM. Not to mention, JMM would be moving up and Casa surprised me with how many times he knocked down Kats and not to mention how he ended it. 135 + Casa may be too much for JMM.
Campbell vs Guzman: Like people have been saying, depends on which Campbell shows up. Guzman would box circles around him if he doesn't bring his A-game. But even if Campbell is fighting well, he would have to chase Guzman around the ring.
Kats vs J. Diaz: I don't see Diaz winning this fight. Both are young exciting fighters. Both coming off losses but Katsidis impressed me more. When faced with adversity, Diaz folded and took an old-school beating. When Katsidis had his back against the wall fighting Casa, he fought aggressively and fought his way to the lead in the scorecards AND knocked Casa out of the ring. With the way both men fight, it would be a war, I can see Diaz winning early on, but Kats won't go away and then the tide will turn. Kats with a late stoppage.

update on joan guzman-campbell fight:
One key ingredient is lacking ,though, and it is a proper venue. It’s a hot match on paper but, as the late, great boxing visionary Big Al Braverman used to say, “ did you ever see two piece of paper climb up in the ring and fight?”
