Does anyone have any videos on here of Mickey Rourke?
I've got 9 1/2 Weeks.
Angel Heart was good too.
I mean of him boxing. He boxed for quite awhile.
The only actuall footage I've seen of Mickey Rouke is when he interupts an interview between Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank(that took so muh effoty to type) and James Toney pretty much calls out both of them. It's really funny because at that time Toney's wordds were very accurate and he would have indeed pwned both Benn and Eubank.
He was world class in terms of fouls.
One of the dirtiest fighters i'VE EVER SEEN.
I heard James Toney beat Rourke up in the gym a few times. Anyone know if this is true
The way he wound up his body shots, what should have been a hook, would turn in to an uppercut, but with his head up like that,he could never target those shots.
But I dont think it was as purpusefull as the old Philly clinch and pound the thigh,or Holyfields head butt to the eye ridge.
He really didnt know were in the hell the shot was headed
I saw one of his fights , and he was very awkward, upright, and was kind of throw back style. He had pretty bad technique alot of slapping/reaching shots. Would have liked to see Tony Danza kick his ass. That would have been a big fight in the 80's.
Anyway I was watching the movie The Rainmaker for this b.s. law class and he was in it. And of course I didn't really pay attention so I had to look up the general plot when I got home to right this paper type deal. And I saw he was a professional boxer and where he was in a movie called Barfly, which was written by Charles Bukowski. I was just interested that is all and he seemed like the kind of guy you could cheer for maybe.
He did play Bukowski but Chuck wasn't fond of his performance, said he was a little too over the top for his character. Bukowski was a great writer, love his work. Notes of a Dirty Old Man is one of my favorites. Never saw Barfly though.
I've got 3 Rourke fights...
He was really rough around the edges and as Donny said really dirty fighter. I think theres something on YouTube.... Not sure tho.
Bro,see Barfly,I think Chuck was a little po'ed because it was a little too close to home
Chuck wasnt like Hunter S Thompson,he didnt even enjoy the concept of himself being portrayed. Thompson kind of took an attitude of,"What can I say,the guy nailed me" in Fear And Loathing. Though he hated "Where The Buffalo Roam"
Bullet, Rumble Fish, Wrestler, and Homeboy are the shit..
