Your list pretty much nails it for me Big H.. Pretty much down to the exact actors I would pick.... The only other one I would surely add in is Johnny Depp... Genius in just about every one of his movies...
Either right now your like, damn how could I have forgotten him... OR, you hate him and find him highly overrated... I don't know many people that don't love him though..

Johnny Depp is a very talented guy.
I don't rate wahlberg that much, he always seems kinda wooden.
I do think however that Joaquin Phoenix is the new de niro. Although not the greatest film his performance in 'we own the night' is incredible.

I think Jamie Foxx is pretty decent! How about Bruce Willis (Pulp Fiction) and Joe Pesci (Goodfellas, Casino)?
I like your list but I do have to agree Johnny depp definately deserves to be on the list as well.
A couple others I like are
Emile Hirsch - Although he is young I think hes going to be an incredible actor.
Russell Crow - Some of his movies like Gladiator and Beautiful minds he did an excelllent job in.
Jude Law - I liked him allot in the movie closer.
Morgan Freeman - Older but still pretty good.
I'm sure theres a few more I like I'm just drawing a blank at the moment
some may disagree, but Justin Long is one of the best actors i've seen on film.. You probably would be surprised at how many movies he was in cause he's so good in every role, it's hard to keep track of someone who isn't the lead character in every movie he's in.. Real good though..
Steve Buscemi!!
What a legend. Just seems to play cameo's more than lead parts but still he's a good actor.

Agree 100% with Tom Cruise in Rainman. Most people only remember Dustin Hoffman's performance (which earned him a well deserved Oscar and he was outstanding), but Tom Cruise actually carries the pace of that film, if that makes any sense. IMO, that is side by side with Born on the 4th of July as his best performance.Quote:

For some perverse reason I always get excited when I see Randy Travis and the Penn's in movies, and they suck.
Brad Pitt was really good in The assassination of Jesse James.
Iggy Pop is a good actor and a real freak as a bonus.

Surprisingly, Vince Vaughn is a good psycho in Clay pigeons.

Can't believe I forgot Walken. Deer Hunter and the Dead Zone are classics. Another actor who tends to get overshadowed is Harvey Keitel. He's mostly known for his supporting roles, but a movie to check out is 'Bad Lieutenant.' He plays a junkie degenerate gambling cop, real gritty film. I haven't seen Jesse James yet but I've read that Pitt was real good in that so I'll probably check it out this week.Quote:

Yes I was talking about how much I enjoyed Bad Lt. in a thread the other day after Canvasback was saying it was one of the worst movies he had ever seen (of Course Canvas was a cop).
When was the last time Pacino was in a good movie? Maybe I'm just forgetting something but it seems he's about down to just shouting these days. Is a good shout still but.
Brando, Heston, Kirk Douglas, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant, William Holden, William Powell, Clarke Gable, Al Pacino, Robert Deniro, Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman, Anthony Hopkins, Robert Mitchum, Edward G. Robinson, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre,.....there are a ton of great actors, too many to name
For today's group I like: Christian Bale, Johnny Depp, Edward Norton, Matt Damon, Terrance Howard, Jack Black (very underrated as just an ACTOR, see 'King Kong'), Vince Vaughn (also very underrated as an ACTOR, see 'A Cool Dry Place').
I think Vince Vaughn is extremely good as an actor, I think his job in Psycho was very good but the movie on the whole sucked (for other reasons, mainly they attempted to re-do a Hitchcock film and in color...big big no-no). 'A Cool, Dry Place' isn't exactly a great film but Vaughn did really do a great job of not playing the character he's been typecast into...the slovenly, sarcastic, selfish, smart ass.
Alan Rickman is a GREAT actor and Christopher Walkin as well...you have to really be devoted to take the "bad guy" roles and you have to be more believeable than the protaganist in the movie or else it will totally suck.
Keanu was great in Matrix and Point Break but those weren't really "Acting" jobs for him.
Elvis wasn't horrible...he wasn't as good as an actor as he was a singer but he was in bad movies so it didn't help.
Frank Sinatra was a very good actor as well
just add steve mcqueen and james dean to that and you're good for a general few classic actors..Quote:
