I cant wait to watch this over and over and over again. The only thing I wonder is how the hell it hasn't already happened with how completely uncoordinated and useless De leon looks.
How did he get exposed? Everyone in the free world knows that De Leon can't box for shit but that his superhuman power has taken him a long way...... He will continue to be relevant because of his power.
Let's not let this take away from the credit due Juanma, folks. The kid came in as the heavy underdog and impressively put away a very dangerous champion with a record to match.
No I give credit where credit is due because DPDL is a very dangerous fighter. I think I predicted a De Leon 3rd round KO. But to suggest he wasn't seriously flawed is just foolish.
Maybe at Eastside they claim he is a good boxer. But I don't read stuff like that.
As in writers you mean announcers. Okay.
Come on rene....
I mean really the media was riding his nuts?
He was the Superstar coming into the fight.
Who should the media 'sell' the fight on JuanMa?
What people always forget is that aside from this being a sport it's a business. The business side is always over looked or just pushed aside.
The media talked about PDL cause he was the name to sell the fight.
Funny that you say the media was riding PDL nuts cause in another thread an actual "JuanMa fan" said the media was allover JuanMa...
Go figure...
EVERYONE knows that DPDL is one of the least skilled guys. So exposed to who? To the people who don't follow boxing?
If you think Escobedo did that then you must have missed the Caballero & the 2nd Gerry fight for that... ;)
This fight has catapulted JuanMa to another level he did something that Caballero, Gerry or Bautista couldn't do. All who argueably pack a punch.
Truth is I am VERY impressed with JuanMas power that is what impressed me the most. DPLD has tooken shots from World Class fighters to the chin and has never been stopped yet JuanMa did it and didn't even break a sweat.
The only exposure in this fight was JuanMas exposure to the Boxing World.
I don't think De Leon was overrated, ovehyped, or anything like that at all. By judging the fight, I think he under estimated Juanma a bit. De Leon was relying with his power to much and going for the early kill,.. eventually got careless.
I predicted a KO win by Juanma, but not by 1st round. I was like,... Whoaaaa!!! :o
Congrats Macho!!! ;D
Ponce was hardly exposed.
He got knocked out by a very exciting young fighter that will almost definitely make a name for himself in boxing.
Exposed? Nah, two big punchers just a matter of who landed first.
I was very impressed with Juanma he got his man hurt and then finished him in good fashion.
WELL IF DPDL was exposed as you say , i think many other fighters will be EXPOSED by this new boxing sensation.;D;D
The guy was outclassed plain and simple. he wasn't hit with a lucky punch either. He was obviously in there with a much better fighter who was on another level and exposed the off balance, club fighter that Deleon is. Say what you will about Deleon, but the guy was exposed and overhyped IMO. Like I said in my 1st post, it reminded me of when Delahoya exposed R.Ruelas's faults and made it look easy. That fight was not even a contest just like the one last night. Talent tells!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
exposed? no. more like lopez discovered.
PDL wasn't exposed he just got caught by surprise, he was badly hurt and instead of trying to hold on he tried to trade. Hopefully he'll learn from this and come back stronger. U have to give credit to Lopez though he's burst onto the world scene in great fashion.
To call PDL a club fighter is just stupid, he's not a great boxer but uses what he has which is his power, he's great for the sport because he's not afraid to fight anyone and fights regulary.
Not exposed. Just so happens JuanMa has better skills and probably packs an even stronger punch. It happens;) Congrats Juan MA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ive said in the past as MANY others have how limited and catchable Deleon was ...Club footed with balance of a linebacker, over extended off lead punch, and hit on like a piñata but his power alone has brought him through with emphasis and was /is thunderous.Never thought Deleon beat Penalosa or Sod lookysomething in 1st fight but I'm always a little weary of tearing a guy down after defeat....It sort of diminishes the All credit due breakout showing and performance that Lopez displayed. He took a legitimately dangerous albeit flawed Champion and absolutely demolished him in short fashion...quick, precise and two fisted finisher was lopez. That right hook from southpaw stance is brutal. These two just looked to be going in opposite directions and on very different levels.
PDL defended his belts many times. He just got caught with a good one by a better fighter.
I agree with Boozeboxer, most people who know anything about boxing when discussing Ponce De Leon would all pretty much comment on his lack of style and skillset that was made up for with power.
As for writers being on his nut's? Well some of those guys will praise anyone who has a winning streak and knockouts, Not all but some. So you can't go by a few articles
Hey fellas,
Sorry that some of you got a little offended because I used the word "exposed" in the thread, But that's how i saw it when he was beaten so easily. Not everyone is as knowledgeable as some of the gents on this forum, and that includes the press, that's why i used the the word exposed because many people overrated this kid, reguardless of how limited Deleon was. I felt all along that this kid would get defeated by a technically sound fighter just as Darchinyan, Hamed and Mugabi were. They were all power punchers with their own awkwardness that seemed to work for them until they were all exposed by technically sound fighters, and last night was no exception.
There's good arguments on both sides of the De Leon issue. But whether he was "exposed" or not, after this fight he can still beat up on just about everyone in the division. Except, of course...... Juanma, the new star.
;D ;D ;D
yeah we all knew what Ponce was, it was just most thought he would be outboxed, not stopped early. I'm not sure how you can be exposed when you already lost to Caballero and Penalosa ().
But he can come back, he'll never be a P4P guy obviously but he can do some things.
PDL was shocking on the Mayweather vs Hatton undercard and gotta say he was lucky to get the decision. He looked sloppy, no defence, pretty stodgey and slow throwing punches, however you could tell the bwoi could crack! Which has to be the reason he got as far as he did.....fair play to him i say!
