Larry Holmes invested well. George Foreman seems to be doing extremely well.
I think Max Schmeling first had some monetary problems, but made a fortune with the soda endorsement.
Lennox Lewis I think?
Oh yeah forgot about him

Uh, the obvious one is Oscar, he's almost a billionaire. SRL seems like he is doing alright.
George Foreman.
Oscar de la Hoya will most definately be the top once he retires.
Mickey Ward
I have yet to hear about David Reid being in need of money
I read an article some years back about Michael Spinks dividing his money up and placing them into timed accounts. This way he would never blow all his money. If he did all he would have to do is wait a few years for more.
He also invested in some business and real estate. Nothing major but well enough to make some money and keep a fairly nice lifestyle.
Marvin Hagler took his money over to Italy where he is a big celeberty and invested in Real estate there as well as does acting in Italian movies
Not really sure....it's sadly only news when they blow it all. One of the mayweathers i belive has no access to all his cash and gives himself a yearly allowance so he doesn't blow it all. Not sure which one but that's pretty smart to reckonize you have it in you to blow that much..
Hagler took all his money to Paris now that was smart. He porbably doubled his money out there at that time.
Tszyu seems to be doing well.
Naz won't be in any financial trouble soon.
I know Pintor house in Mexico is huge and he also has a gym he runs.
Eubank must be doing well if he's got money to fill up his truck. ;D
HBO commentator Lennox Lewis. I didn't know he was a movie actor too. I saw him in "Johnny Was".
Vitaly, Wlad, Cotto, DPDL all have begun investing money wisely.
The Klits are promoters so is Cotto.
DPDL owns a restaurant out here in LA.
Margaritos is a promoter also.
I'm sure Joe Calzaghes smart about his money.
Bernard is GBP-East.
RJJs made some great investments
PBF of course.
Gene Tunney...never heard that he had any money issues
Pac is a boxing promoter too. He's an investor, owns a couple of bar and grill restaurants in Manila. I'm sure there's more.
He gonna run again for congressman in 2010. ;D
It's pretty sad with all the champions in the past who made millions after millions in this sport that there are only a handful that have something to show for it. Most of these guys lived fight to fight and by the end of their career they were already in debt.
I was going to say, only in boxing would people be talking so admirably about someone who makes pots of cash and doesn't end up flat broke.. "Oh well this fighter invested in real estate, he must be doing well." I mean for christs sake, if you make MILLIONS of dollars, you invest.
....boxing isn't the only profession where people go broke....sure there are a lot of fighters who do wind up broke but look where a lot of fighters come from...so it's not THAT big of a deal IMO
George Foreman has gotta be up there on top or near to it. I wish George was my daddy.
Yea, I've read he made much more from the Foreman Grill than he ever did in his entire boxing careeer... Makes me wonder if there is anyone who has done the same... Not just invested wisely and retained their earnings or whatnot, but actually gone on to make more money in another venture than they did boxing? Can't think of one for the life of me, at least not a top fighter.
Foreman,Lewis,Marciano,Hagler,SRL
j.j. braddock used his little sum of money wisely.
Nino Benvennutti went into television after his retirement, made a tidy little sum to live comfortably on......
.....Then abandoned it all to live in poverty to help the struggling in Calcutta.
Well here in Aus Tszyu does VERY well, Fenech is loaded, Mundine and his entire family won't ever have to work, Danny Green is set for life. Some of the old time fighters made a load of money, but i can't remember them all just now. I'll do some drunken research and let you know. Les Darcy made a fortune but after he died his stupid alcoholic farmer father blew the lot because Les never made a will so it went to his dad not his wife. He actually drove one of a few motor cars in Aus at the time, a Buick it was. They used it in his funeral procession here where 200,000 people came from all over to see.
Michael would employ Leon, hire him during training camps, Leon would never show up. Michael would pay Leons bills lend him money that would be spent on drugs and women.
You can only do so much brother or not. What is to do let Leon have access to his funds so he can blow Michaels money as well?
Leon made millions in the ring and blew it all. It is not like he was a brother who has been nothing but a working stiff his whole life at minimum wage and Michael came into a fortune and would not even throw him a few bucks to buy the kids new shoes.
Hopkins
Holmes
Ali
Leanard
Duran
Mayweather has been mentioned here but the way he talks about money and how he spends it makes me wonder if down the road he will be recycling cans with Tyson.
ODLH seems to be going down ther right path. Has made money fighting, as a promoter, and has invested his money in all kinds of things. He has that show Boxeo de Oro, a clothing line (which one is it?) with Mervyns, had a Grammy-nominated CD, acquired bunch of magazines (The Ring, KO Magazine, World Boxing Magazine, Pro Wrestling Illustrated, etc.), he is a part owner of the soccer team Houston Dynamo, just came up with his autobiography, invested in Real State, etc. He is also an architect and designed part of his gym and house in Big Bear, California.
Fernando Vargas invested in Real State and also has a company "Fernando Vargas Communications".
How about Trinidad?
Terry Downes.
Didn't Duran go through Money problems a couple of times? I could be wrong but I thought he owed a huge Tax debt.
Azuma Nelso supposedly lives like royalty in Ghana
Arturo Gatti has always kept his money in good condition.
Julio Cesar Chavez is another who has a very comfortable life home in Mexico.
When you really think about it more modern day champions then not seem to have done OK with their purse earnings. We just hear so much more about the ones who messed up
I remember a while ago how he owed all this money to "Hacienda" (Mexican version of IRS I guess), hope its not true. He has mentioned that he has gyms in Mexico.Quote:
Julio Cesar Chavez is another who has a very comfortable life home in Mexico.
How about Ike Quartey? He owns a construction company in Ghana and seems to be doing pretty well.
lennox lewis
odlh
seems like morales and barrera are having no promblems
