what is your take on the insane price of gas
im paying 1.44/lt. where im at that works out to be over $5 a gallon US
montreal, is over the $1.50 mark that is probbaly around $6/gal.
i know it is a supply and demand thing but goddamit canada has
alot of oil like iraq, iran, Saudi Arabia, and vensulia the only problem
is they are paying pennies for their gas and we are not. crude oil went up
$10/barel last week and gas jumped 7cents here but the weeks befor that it went down $10/barel and where was the big decrease in the price?

Bush is an oil man and he's pushing for the gas to go up so he can scrounge that last little bit of $$$ before he gets out of office. Although a lot of people don't think so, I think the price of gas will start to go down a bit once he gets his sorry ass out of office. These next 6 months will be the longest this country's had to endure in a long time. :-\ :mad:

i got rid of my SUV and just got a 2008 Mazda3, and couldn't be happier with the difference in gas mileage.. i've been getting 27ish and that is amazing for what i am used to..
gas prices are absolutely outrageous.. It is completely RUINING the economy here..
the bank near my house got held up today.. and i would NEVER expect that to happen in my town.. not to say that the economy is the reason but there is definitely a theory behind that, to say the least.. desperate times..
Retail businesses need to form some sort of coalition to stop oil companies from marking up gas prices.. i mean, gasoline has about zero elasticity, as that VAST, VAST majority of people depend on their cars to get around every day.. so we're just getting ass-raped by this markup.. Something needs to happen, SOON.

That is in Queensland - other states are paying about 10 to 20 cents a ltr more

I paid $1.67 on Friday for un-leaded down in Melbourne.. It is such a scam!!
The technology was being developed to have cars that don't need half the petrol or oil to run as they do now... But the whole fucking world is run by oil industry giants... No way would governments and industry giants allow a switch from the cars we have now, to enviro friendly cars that barely use any petrol/gas... The environment is being ruined, we are paying a ridiculous amount to run our cars... The only reason we aren't driving electric cars or alternative power cars, is because billions and billions of dollars in oil would be lost......
The environment would be a million times better off, the consumer would be a million times better off... But of course, in business, what is more important that $$$ ?

I've been riding my motorcycle alot. Shame on us for not learning something from the gas crisis during the 70's. Whats even more disturbing for me is my heating oil bill. I just got notified the budget payment went from $137 per month to $378.

prices in Dublin are at an all time high now, its around 1.35 a litre.
cost me 60 euro to fill my car yesterday(1.6 focus) with work as well sometimes I need to fill up twice a wk. Its a right pain in the nuts

It's those greedy motherfuckers in office and overseas. Until we get ourselves a REAL president in office, it'll stay like this. The U.S. is finished if we get another president like George Bush. Here in Britain, Petrol tanker drivers have gone on strike, saying they want more money for the danger of driving about with thousands of gallons of highly explosive liquid attached to their backs.
A Shell spokesman said; "There are thousands of muslims out there who would kill for a job like that!"

What happened was the price went up and the supply went down (I believe due to an oil embargo) so there were lines at gas stations. I was in college at the time (commuting to Boston) and I had to get up at like 5 a.m. to get in line so I could get gas. I know this sounds funny, but the price per gallon went from like 33 cents to 75 cents (imagine that!). There was a big push for more energy efficient vehicles and petroleum alternatives like gasahol (doesn't this all sound familiar?). Anyway, once the supply increased it seemed like all the energy saving ideas just went away. We were back to big gas guzzling cars and nobody seemed to care that gas was more expensive as long as they didn't have to wait in line for it. Now everyone is scrambling to do what should have been done over the past 30 plus years. Also, the politicians, oil companies and car manufacturers should share some blame in all of this as well as the consumers, especially we Americans.
