Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
I'm not really bothered about Hatton-Paulie as I don't think Hatton has much to gain from it. A showdown with Pacquaio will generate enormous interest and would be a bloodbath so I'd love to see that match up but apart from that the fights aren't there at 140. Do you think he should try to move to 147 again ? But maybe go for a shot at Paul Williams but with the height diffrernce that could prove difficult. What should be his next move ?

Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
I think fighting guys coming up is the only way to go. Pacquiao is a good fight.
He'll get damaged at 147.
Im pretty sure hes done anyway.
-
Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
I would like to see Hatton face Paulie, Paulie has developed a bit of a name at this point and beating him has some meaning at 140. I don't want to hear PAC mentioned with Hatton until AFTER we see how he handles Diaz at 135.
-
Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
Ricardo Torres if he beats Holt in a rematch, thats the most entertaining fight at 140 and it would be a candidate for FOTY IMO.

Torres and Malignaggi are the only real options IMO. I'll take either one.
-
Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
Torres might be worthy, as is Malignaggi. Neither are an event the size of a Pacquiao showdown though, thats what its all about now.

I hope Hatton takes Legacy over spectacle. If he fights PAC it's a lose, lose situation for him, if he wins or loses it's to a guy from a much lower weight class, even if he is the same size.

Hatton-Pacquiao should be a blockbuster. But no rush there. Most pacfans wanna see this fight late this year. But I'm not one of them.
Pac needs to test the waters first at LW. If he wins against D. Diaz by KO, and he KOed another LW belt holder late this year, then that'd be the only time I can safely say that he's difinitely ready for Hatton.
Hatton-Williams at 147 is too freakish to watch because of the height differencial. That's a tough one for Hatton. I don't know if he would want that.
So to answer the thread question, I'd rather see (in order)...
Hatton-Mallig
Hatton-Bradley
Hatton-Pac

I want to see him fight Oscar

I'd love to see him fight Juan Diaz or Torres. Fighting Paul Williams would be suicide. I think his days at 147 are over.

Surely Oscar is to big for Hatton to face. That would be embarassing for Hatton.

Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
The winner of Diaz/Katsidis would be an interesting affair.
Ricardo Torres deserves a shot although he's never expressed interest.

Hatton would be too small for everyone at 147.
-
Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
Torres
Bradley
Pac
either of those 3 is a lot more intresting than PM.

I dunno. Hopkins has made quite a name for himself beating up smaller men. Same rules have to apply to everyone dont they?

The same rules do apply and I'm not a fan of Hopkins or his career choices.

Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?

I fail to see the problem

Paul Williams would bust up Ricky Hatton something differently..i'd actually feel sorry for him.

Hatton would need a ladder to fight Williams.

Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
Its a shame that Hatton had not agreed to fight Witter before his recent loss coz that would have been a massive fight. In Britain anyway.
Not that many big names to pick from at light welter apart from PM.
-
Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
It makes sense both from a financial and logical standpoint for hatton to fight paulie malignaggi in the garden later in the year.
Its high time hatton unified the 140 division and defined his legacy for generations to come as one of the all time great light welterweights.
Malignaggi at the garden in October, Torres in vegas sometime in march and then a big last farewell showdown against a big name at wembley stadium later on in 2009.
-
Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
I like the Paulie fight as clears things up a bit there at the top.
After the Paulie fight a fight with possibly; Torres & Juan Diaz to close out his career.
-
Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
Junior Witter anyone? The guy's worthy of a shot at Hatton's title, I think.
Hatton-Williams would be about as funny as it would be short. Williams took what Margarito had to offer, why would Hatton fair any better? And we've all seen what Williams can do when he sits down on his punches. He and Cotto are the top 2 welters, IMHO.
-
Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
Paulie, Pac, Torres, Juan Diaz, then retire. That's my hope for Hatton.
-
Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
After fighting Torres, win or lose, Hatton's ears may ring each time Juan Diaz hits him.
-

Spot on dude... Everyone expects Pac to have a sparring session, Diaz is no laydown..
As far as Paulie, he knows how to gain attention and he has, I hope Hatton beats him up though, but not sure how muck Ricky has left in the tank

Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
Unfortunately, the only fight I'd want to see is Hatton v Mayweather II...
-
Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
I'm surprised Bradley hasn't got much mention. I don't know how he would do but I definitely have no interest in seeing Hatton fight Pacquiao or any lightweight for that matter.
Bradley, Lamont Peterson, Devon Alexander, Victor Ortiz ect.
The younger guys who are the future of the division and will most likely be knocking at the door by the time 2009 rolls around especially Peterson. That's what I would like to see.
-
Re: Who would you rather see Hatton face ?
I also would like to have seen Hatton vs Mayweather II

If tszyu, castillo heck even someone as big as urango cant hurt hatton i very much doubt diaz will have much chance.
Hatton-Mayweather II is still a heavy possibility mark my words.
At the very earliest it wouldnt happen at least for another 18 months but a big world title showdown infront of 90,000+ with millions upon millions up for both fighters makes the rematch a big possibility and perhaps even a likelihood.

A couple years ago I would say yes but I believe Hatton is running on fumes since his style dosent lend to longevity.. I think in 18 months it would be a one sided beatdown of a used up Hatton.. I would love to be proved wrong since I think Hatton is a likeable chap
