Nice they are showinmg the Hearns Gonzales fight, Gonzales is a great test for Hearns could be a good one. I was hoing to see McCullough, guess not.
Hearns is looking sharp through 2 , he looks just like his pops stylewise. Big right hands with tahty flicker jab. Gonzales looks like he may be swelling already around the eyes.
Gonzales isnt known for defense and that's gonna cost him in this one, Hearns drops bombs. Hearns is showing enough movement to give him problems, but he's gotta slow the pace if he wants to control the fight.
Pretty good fight
Way low blow in the 4th, the action has been pretty fast paced, good fight so far. Toe to toe trading right now. Hearns on the backfoot picking shots and gonzales is looking to press. Gonzales looks gassed out, it may the bodyshots hearns is banging on him. Hearns really digginh those hooks in. I got it 4 rounds for Hearns so far, but he always seems frantic in the corner.
Now Gonzales get a low one to start the 5th, big lead left hook from Hearns. Hearns is throwing consecutive left then right hooks to the body. Hearns using distance and teeing off a bit now. Big uppers and straight rights. Not much to say for Gonzales that round.
Whats up with the T-Shirts on Girlie's??How many guy's has Tommy trained in the corner?Hearns looks more intent than last outing but lapses at times.Physical gifts are obvious
Hearns has been the same his entire pro career imo. Just all offense, no defense to speak of but to his credit he isn't half as wild as he was when he first started out. Pretty dim on his prospects as he moves up but he is an exciting fighter.
I'm just waiting for the Ward fight though.
Hearns islanding alot I'm surprised Gonzales hasn't gone down yet. I think Gonzales is hoping to take him into the 9th and 10 because he's not doing enough to win rounds but keeps coming forward. Hearns looks alot fresher so I'm not sure that stradegy will work, another one for Hearns. the Showtime guys gave Gonzales the second, but he's being shutout on my card so far.
Hearns getting smothered more, he may be losing steam, he's only ever gone eight. Huge right hand you could hear and Gonzales just eats it. Gonzales corner stops it, he was taking shots but looked ok. He was really down in the fight, so I won't object, it was in the interest of his fighter.
Good fight and win for Hearns, but opponent was a punching Bag. Hearns left down the whole fight.
Those shots would have had alot of other guys on the canvas. I think he really took it out of Gonzales with the early body shots.
Hearns says "Hey amat quit hating on me all you doubters , I'm for real." ;D
OHH,Chambers does his best power puncher Impersonation.....bet ya he wishes he made the co-feature tonight
Why are the playing the old Mario Theme song ;D
Haha ;D
Really really looking forward to this one, big on Ward obviously. My favorite active fighter probably. Obviously no room for any sort of slip up here, has to be careful of the Ravelo right hand but he should win this one impressively.
I wish Chambers was co-feature too. They have 2 hours they can use it better.
Two former Olympian, Ravelo got sparked by Allen Green right? He's from the contender, but I don't remember him at all. I got Ward, but Ravelo's ranginess could cause him problems.
Ward comes out a bit sloppy and tries to bullrush Ravelo, but he's no chump. Both are feeling out a bit with the jab, really close through 2 mins, Ward looks a hair faster at this point and is getting off quicker, gonna give it to ward but it could have gone to either. 10 to 10 wouldnt be out of line.
Smoger is working like a fooool as of late,Ward needs to dismiss that "contender" show equation....Ward is looking sharp in counter mode,Ravello pressing him.
Ward is having to reach a bit and could get caught because he is coming forward. This looks like a great matchup so far.Ravelo is coming forward but isn't quite fast enough to land yet, he's gonna need to feint and use timing. They trade some hooks and both land one, Ward thrw 1 2 that lands flush. Ward misses a lead left hook and almost pays for it...slip by ravelo..they are getting tied up with their footwork tripping over each other a bit sloppy. Another close one, gave it to Ward.
Ward shortening his shots now and pressing himself. Ward is poppoing in and out Ravelo is behind on his counter due to Wards quickness...Ravelo has a decent left so watch for his laft hook, dont think Ward is afraid of the right because he is moviing towards it. Ward won it with cleaner shots. 3-0 Ward so far.
Check out all the feints for Ward. Foot feints, shoulder feints, just all sorts of feints. He works with them more then probably anybody in boxing I think. It helps him with the jab especially the jab to the body.
Once the ball gets rolling for Ward he'll switch to southpaw. It's where he has gotten his last few guys in trouble from southpaw too.
Ward again is being aggressive, big left counter by Ward. Ravlo isntphased, and keeps coming. Double jab to straight right lands for Ward. Ravelo doesnt use his heaight enough and has that low left...Ravelo seems to have trouble getting off punches. Gotta give it to ward again, ravelo has to step it up bigtime. 4-0 Ward
Good performance so far, I wish he would stop coming in squared but he is taking all the precautions when he does it. I agree with his corner, got to keep his feet under him. Yet he's boxing beautiful really and he's not getting hit coming in. Surprised we haven't seen him southpaw yet, but I imagine once he has Ravelo hurt or thinks he can hit he'll switch.
Ward is just outclassing him at this point, but hasnt really hurt or wobbled Ravelo. Big loopin left hook land for ward, Ravelo didnt get too bothered by it.Ward moves to southpaw he throw a few punches and switches back. Why switch when your having so much sucess? He better not get careless. Another Ward round/shutout.
Ward is getting his timing and landing more. Ravelo's chance to land a big counter is now, but he is never letting anything go in return. Ward is the smaleer guy controlling him with the jab. Ward is breaking him a bit Ravelo starts to back up more. Not the prettiest fight but you can't point the finger at Ward.
Ward is sitting down on his rights, he may look to get the k.o. Ravelo hasn't offered much to keep him honest. Most of the punches Ravelo is throwing are glancing or arm shots. Ward has Ravelo on the ropes a bit. Easy round for Ward. Mismatch so far.
Ravelo does not look like he wants to be in there anymore...unless he lands a prayer this one is in the bag...huge shot drops Ravelo liek a bad habit and the corner has to stop it because Smoger was about to let him get KTFO. Nm I think Smoger stopped it, he didnt see the towel I guess.
There we go
Andre Ward is the man. Obviously he's in a class above Ravelo. I say bring it on. I expect someone like Allan Green next. Awesome fighter is Andre Ward.
Ward reaches new rung here....Top notch showing in many caragories but long road ahead still....
Ward's pace is perfect imo. I mean, look at Pavlik. 7 years. Ward won't need that many but he has been moving nicely and allowing himself to grow at his own pace and his competition has helped him along. That being said, I think that Ward thinks it's time. Obviously he is just a class above the Rubin Williams and Jerson Ravelo's of the world. I thought Allan Green might have been his June fight, wouldn't be surprised if that's who he ended up facing. I would definitely take him.
Green, Lacy (my heart would probably explode but it's not unlikely), Berrio, Soliman ect.
I expect someone like that. I think he wins them all and then it's a title shot. Want to see that next step up.
Ward Vs Green would be more competitive but Green would probably get caught while he's checking to see if his shoes tied.
Ward is part of Team Jordan he was debuting some new shoes tonight, that's probably all it would take for Ward to win.
Andrade is the big wild card in the division. I'm not as worried though as Ward getting grinded down as I am him just getting caught with the one big shot. He certainly seems open for it sometimes like when he rushes in. I don't like that but it's something he does, some guys have been able to do it and get away with it. With his speed it gives him a chance. Andrade I think can be outboxed and when it comes time Ward isn't going to have any trouble going 12, he gets better as the fight goes.
Andrade can be outboxed, I think Ward would use the ring smartly and probably outbox him but Andrade is one who can't be counted out and won't be stopped.
has abraham/miranda happened yet?.. anyone have a link to be pm'd to me?
Yes tonight was Shobox, Andre Ward and Ronald Hearns.
