Do you prefer Live or TV fights
I am not sure if it is just me but I much prefer to watch a big fight on the TV than Live, maybe it's because I have been to so many live shows they have just lost the novelty for me. At one stage I was going to at least 2 shows a week, you have to sit through all the undercard, which generally has a number of poor fights, then if TV is involved they are big delays to make sure the main events start on time. There are no replays so if you miss something it is tough unless it is a really big fight and they have a screen. Not to mention the travel to and from.
With TV you can sit at home and relax with a few mates, hear each other talk and watch replays of the fight, see all the things you may have missed at the event, the only thing that does frustrate me is if there is a decent fight on the undercard they sometimes don't show it.
Maybe I have just become lazy, but from the last 4 shows I have been to I only actually lasted the full show once, going home to watch the main event after a couple of fights.

I prefer TV fights. It's just more fun comfortable.

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
You have likely or may have lost the adrenaline flow for the fight then, unless it is your own fighter.
I see people in a ring duking it out, I get pumped up! I start to dance and throw my own blows as they happen, and scream and giggle like a happy little girl when some one lands a big hard blow. I ache to be in there and also want it to happen. I imagine those that are pure fans also get that same rush also but can only guess.
I haven't seen many fights though, and certainly no big name ones...so maybe in time that may fade, but I sure hope not.

You can never beat the atmophere of actually being in the same venue of a fight than you feel when watching it at home with your mates.I love having a few lads coming round and watching a main fight on t.v,i mean we have daft bets on who'll win and enjoy a couple of cans. Then again to be there at a live major fight is great!!I find the undercard fights really good before all of the major fights weather its small local title bouts or a big occasion bout.
Im 60% on being there live and 40% on chilling out on me sofa with a can or two!

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
TV for me usually because i'm driving and cant have a drink at the live shows so TV and a few beers is my preference ;)

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
Although it would seem like live fights would be better, for me TV shows are more entertaining. For some strange reason, if I already know the outcome of the fight, I'm able to enjoy it more, it becomes more interesting. :dontknow: It seems like it'd be the opposite but I guess that's the human mind for you I guess...

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
I like to listen to the commentators and watch the slowmo replay.

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
Good topic. But imo, the thread starter should've made a poll.

Try clicking "edit" on your first post of this page. And you should see poll option on the bottom. I don't know if it would still allow you though. Just give it a shot bro.

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
I know what you are saying. For me, it depends on the seats. If you are really close, live is off course better. But with mediocre or bad seats, i would rather being watching the fight at home on the TV

Yes, it seems on TV you can here the commentators better, and the slowmo is good to watch on some of those nasty shots.

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
Both are great but i haven't been to any sports event that i had decent seats for that was better on t.v. that it was live. Nothing beats being there...

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
I agree. My brother saw boxing live for the first time earlier in the month and he absolutely loved it. Said it was awesome. I agree, boxing is such an awesome sport live I love it.

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
There is nothing more enjoyable in the line of sports then being ringside for a fight.
I've been courtside to basketball games on the side lines of football & soccer games.
But and I mean nothing beats sitting ringside for a World Class fight.
Having sat ringside for JLC-Corrales I, Rafa vs. Izzy 1 & 3.
I can tell you there is nothing like it.
NOTHING. ;)

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
I've never been to a live sporting event besides high school football and few Baltimore Orioles games. I left the stadium early each time.
It is hard for me to imagine enjoying the fights amidst a restless crowd as much as I do viewing from the comfort of my own home. Snacks are free and there are no lines for the bathroom.
Still, I have nothing to compare it to and Mick does make it sound amazing.
Besides, I need the guys in the booth to tell me who won the fight. hehe

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
Well considering I live In B.F....the land of very few local and Big Shows now a days..Its all about the Fatty Flat screen in my dwelling.Besides,I would just get to damn rowdy at a live card, end up missing the fights while defusing the local authorities.....:fight:

Truely is Silverback...
You are there you are part of history.
I will forever be part of JLC-Corrales 1.
Only about 5,000 people were there that night in that arena to see what is argueably the greatest comeback & the greatest fight of all time.
My eyes saw it, nobody needs to tell me anything about it cause I lived it I was there.

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
I think it very much depends on how comfortable you feel in a large crowd and whether you enjoy the sense of atmosphere you get from a live event.
I have to say I'm more inclined to Boxing Gorilla's way of thinking. Going to a live event all seems to much effort. Driving to the event, queuing to get in, waiting around for the fights to start, queuing for food, not being able to properly see everything going on, the itching, anxious feeling I get that increasingly builds and builds when my computer and I seperated, it's all too much.
However I have to say I'd much rather be like CutMeMick, who feels no such anxiety, who loves to get out and socialise, who feels comfortable enough not only to presume he can sit ringside with the stars, but also has the audacity to dress better than them and approach them.
If I had CutMeMick's personality I would definitely love going to the fights.

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
i like both but i prefer live tv cuz the edit to much shit after it been taped

Re: Do you prefer Live or TV fights
Unless you have really bad seats, you shouldn't have any problem seeing anything. In fact, the cameras are positioned halfway up the seats usually and not on the floor. If you have ringside seats but are in like row 10 of the floor seats then you probably have pretty shitty seats. Those are the seats where it's hard to see everything because you have people in front of you, the ref and the turnbuckles to deal with.
I have to admit, my last fight I went to was pretty crazy. All the Hells Angels were there. And I mean all of them, all from California I think. They've been to shows before but they are an intimidating bunch, all in red crowding the place I was walking through in my blue shirt hoping to God I didn't step on any shoes.
But that wasn't so bad, until I learned that there was a Hells Angel fighting :o All that was running through everyone's mind is "What the hell happens if he loses?", and they were going crazy for him. Sounded like a Sharks game it was VERY loud and the whole time I was just hoping for an end and no riot over a bad decision. Luckily he was fighting a no hoper.

Could you imagine if he had lost?
I don't think anyone would have made it out alive from there. :-\
