Pavlik vs Mora Sept 27 looks likely
Dan Rafael of espn.com/boxing just reported that Arum is working out a deal for Pavlik to fight Sergio Mora, due to Joe Cal wanting no piece of the young puncher.
Arum said the fight would take place either Sept. 27 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., where Pavlik has fought two of his last three bouts, or Oct. 18 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

;D;D;D;D;D;D;D;D
wow.. if this happens.. wow.. SOOOO Pumped for this..
i mean, first and foremost, props for Mora if he takes this fight..
but truth be told, i cannot wait for Pavlik to knock this guys head off..
I assume Mora is moving up for this?.. 160.. for someone who doesn't hit hard at all, to fight one of, if not THE hardest hitter in the weight class above him takes some balls..

Actually Pavlik is taking a big risk here...if he for some reason(whatever that may be)looses he will be the biggest laughing stock in boxing..like Mundine/Ottke...Did anybody think of this ?!?!;D

I thought about it, and i know in boxing that anyone has a chance.. a puncher's chance.. but if JT couldn't get Pavlik out of there after what he did to him, and if Pavlik can take shots from Edison Miranda and keep coming forward, then i have no reason to believe that even if Mora catches Pavlik with three perfect shots in succession that he could drop Pavlik.. Mora has fast hands and a wide stance so he gets in and out pretty fast, but he has that lunging approach with his jab and lead right hands, and i think Pavlik will just see that and catch him on the way in BAD..
only thing worst than a Pavlik straight right hand, is when you lean into a Pavlik straight right hand :D

Re: Pavlik vs Mora Sept 27 looks likely
I like Mora, but this is a terrible fight for him. Pavlik is not an old Forrest, this'll be ugly... I think Mora is a more legitimate opponent than Rubio though.

Why doesnt he fight kessler?

I don't want him too he needs to take care of business at Middleweight, win this fight impressive then a fight with Abraham is a must, then a Kessler fight.

Re: Pavlik vs Mora Sept 27 looks likely
hahaha even I might do a sig bet for this one. I don't know how much I want to see this. OK yes I do want to see it I have never liked Mora.

Re: Pavlik vs Mora Sept 27 looks likely
I'm not making another sig bet on a fight because I will no doubt jinx Kelly and he'll lose.

Oh, I knew all you haters would have a field day with this. I didn't post about this when I found out this morning, because I knew all the haters would be out in force.
It's fine if you guys want to see him lose, I get that, but I think it's wrong to wish for him to get pummeled, or have his head knocked off.
Sergio is an extremely nice guy, and would you guys really be happy if something serious happened to him, like brain damage, or worse death. If so, that's sad. Hopefully you'll never hear anybody say those words about someone you know, or care about.
And, keep underestimating Sergio, he prefers it that way. I'll be talking to him tomorrow, I'll make sure to pass along your best wishes to him. :lolhaha:

Re: Pavlik vs Mora Sept 27 looks likely
I like this fight; it's not Kessler or Abraham, but those will happen next year I would imagine.
What I'm not understanding is why Mora is going back to 160 again? I thought he looked good against Forrest and seemed at a better weight for himself. Even had Forrest been at his prime I think he would have had more trouble with him than some think. Anyways, I'll give Mora credit for fighting Kelly, I just don't see why he might want to derail his career should Pavlik put a bad beating on him. It would put Mora back again IMO and I say he should stay at 154{though obviously it's not my choice}.
This is a lose/lose for Pavlik; if he beats the brakes off Sergio he's not going to get much credit, maybe less than beating Lockett; and heaven forbid what happens should he lose. Only way Sergio wins is by decision, but it would make Kelly look silly IMO. I can't see there being that much of a draw for wanting to see this fight, so it's not making much sense to me.
I like the fight personally, as Sergio has that deep fighting spirit and good chin; and Kelly is a no-nonsense type guy, but there are better fights to be made; safer for Mora at a more natural weight, and Pavlik could make a step up and test the waters at SMW with someone like Andrade while he waits for Abraham or even Kessler.

I agree, I can't understand why Mora wouldn't stay at 154. Even if he had to give Forrest a rematch, it's still by far the best weight for him. He actually seemed to have improved power at 154 as well, he stunned Forrest with that overhand right.

Everyone else is ducking Pavlik, might as well go for it.

oh cmon diane.. i'm sure plenty of boxers are nice guys, but you have to take our verbiage with a grain of salt.. you're allowed to use hyperbole in sports, i swear, it's not meant literally.. When the Celtics were playing the Lakers, i probably said, i hope the Celtics mop the floor with the Lakers.. I hope they kill the Lakers.. I hope they destroy the Lakers.. and basketball isn't even a violent sport.. and no one means those words literally.. THIS IS BOXING, and it involves punching another human, and it's violent.. which makes it even more easier and appropriate to use terms like we have been..
No one wants to see anyone get injured, that never even entered my head.. cmon now..
even though Sergio lost to manfredo in the second fight, but got a complete down right, robbery decision, i have just almost gotten over it simply because if he wasn't undefeated, then he may not even be in the position to fight someone like Pavlik, unless he fought through a gauntlet of quality guys first.. So maybe that terrible decision he won is a blessing in disguise and we get to see a real rumble in September with Pavlik looking impressive yet again!

Honestly...I'd like to see this fight...just not right now...no...take that back...I'd like to see it right now & then lead into Pavlik vs Abraham.
The September & October dates totally scuttle the chances of Abraham fighting Pavlik...then again...so does the mandatory shot against Marquez on Abraham's end.
I reckon the way to look at it in positive light is to cross fingers on both camps using each other's matches to drum up publicity for each other.

he lost.. it was a robbery.. regardless of the decision, the most diehard sergio mora fan knows that he lost.. heck mora knows he lost, if he doesn't he is delusional.. it was a joke.. and you can say "check his record, he's undefeated" in your next post but the absolute truth is that he was defeated that night.. don't kid yourself.. but that is a completely separate topic.

Re: Pavlik vs Mora Sept 27 looks likely
Hope so i would to see Sergio Mora get sparked out.

Re: Pavlik vs Mora Sept 27 looks likely
This could be a decent scrap. I expect Pavlik to catch up to him mid to late, much tougher test than lockett.

I find this immensely funny for some reason. As if people literally want Mora's head to be knocked off. Actually, if this happens, I want Pavlik to win, but Mora has risen greatly in my esteem after taking apart Vernon Forrest.

You thought wrong!
Just because Mora did not beat up on Manfredo for the entire fight like he did in their first fight, does not mean Manfredo won. Manfredo improved, that was it. Manfredo did not do enough to win. He had the fight but he began to act a fool instead of taking care of business.
Let me put it to you this way, there are still those today that think Manfredo won the first fight. HAHAHAHAHA!
You can't argue with Manfredo fans. They are about as smart as a bag of rocks. ;D

exactly.. anyone who has any boxing sense, or any common sense even knows this.. Danny G just has sergio's balls dangling on his tonsils so he can't think straight..
he can create all of the graphics and attempt all the witty humor he likes and think he is proving something..
i KNOW what the decision was that night, my point is that when you're a fighter you know deep down when you got a gift, and he got a gift.. and hey, that's fine, it just sickened me at the time.. but as i said, blessing in disguise as the alleged undefeated Sergio Mora will meet his roadblock if this fight goes down.. and that is not underestimating him.. it's just the fact that he is in with world class prime competition, and he is not on that level..
i will speak no more of his previous fights in this thread, as i have stated my opinion enough times.. only the forthcoming..

Don't be sore, clean the sand out of your vag1na and admit that Manfakie lost. He improved in his second fight but you don't award a fighter for improving and not getting his ass kicked for 7 rounds. That is what you Manfraudo fans saw, a more improved Manfalsy. I know you had your hopes up and I know that Manfunky let you down over and over again. I think it is about time you take your Manfraudo posters down off your bedroom wall and learn to pick winners. You are only rooting for Pavlik because he is fighting against Sergio. You had no idea who Pavlik was 2 years ago ;D Tell manpunko to lose some weight and grow some balls. Sergio even told Manfarto that if he felt so strong about it and that if he felt he lost, that Sergio would fight him again in Providance. What did Manscaredo do? He did not accept. HAAHAAAA! ;D
Stop crying about Peter you are making yourself sound like a Manfredo fan and that is not a very good thing around here ;D or anywhere else for that matter.

Re: Pavlik vs Mora Sept 27 looks likely
I remember in the contender Mora saying he would hate to get knocked out so why the hell is he thinking of fighting Pavlik can't wait to see Mora with his head weaved into the canvas.

Either Mora got good or Forrest got old or had a major off night one thing for sure is Mora ain't good enough for Pavlik.

I think Pavlik will take a few rounds to adjust to Mora's awkward slick style but once Pavlik finds his rhythm he will walkthrough Mora and stop him in the middle rounds. To beat a fighter like Pavlik you either have to be strong enough to force him on the back foot which no one is at the moment, or be a good boxer on the back foot with enough power so Pavlik respects you, sadly Mora has no power so i can't see him winning this.
-
Re: Pavlik vs Mora Sept 27 looks likely
unfortunately the only live fight i've been to was either in 2005 or 2006 cause my cousin knew someone fighting on pavliks card in CT at mohegan sun.. so i saw pavlik fight then.. so that was about two years ago, if not more, i'd have to check the date.. So yes, i knew who pavlik was years ago..
and i could careless about Manfredo.. he had his chance to be a fighter and he failed.. Regardless of who Mora fought that night, it was a widely televised bout that plenty of people saw.. and plenty of people saw this "Manfraudo" that you speak so lowly of, defeat Sergio.. sorry Danny..
and negative rep.. WOW, you take this way too seriously.. i must've hit a nerve..
have some positive rep guy. ;)

very true
he beat forrest by outworking and outscoring him, against pavlik he`ll find however busy he is kelly will be just as active only punching with far more ko intent.
I really dont see how this can go past 6-7 without either the ref or moras corner themselves pulling their man out!

Just so we don't start this all over again, because I remember getting into to it with Bruno and Boston about this shiet before when they thought that Manfraudo was something special.
