Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
Its on another website, this has seemed inevitable lately, they just have to make it official. Apparently both sides have agreed in principle, they just have to work out things like the TV network, apparently HBO and Showtime are both interested but Showtime has the better date.
Nice fight, really looking forward to it as a fan of Guzman. Tough first fight at a new weight class for Joan but I'm favoring him.
-
Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
Poor Nate CAmpbell. I like him, always have for some reason, and I was hoping he'd have a nice little reign at LW to go out on, a few decent paydays. I'd pick him to beat Casa, Diaz again, Kats, Pac if he stays at LW, pretty much anyone but Guzman he has an excellent chance against imo. I guess it isn't a sure thing Guzman beats him but Joan is by far the toughest guy for anyone to fight at LW right now imo, and that's having not even seen him at the weight.
-
Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
I'm not sure there's a real big payday out there for Nate to be honest. I mean except for Pac but I personally don't see Pac fighting him, even if he beat Joan. Not sure Casa's a real big payday. I do agree he'd beat most guys, he'd ruin Katsidis. But I do think Guzman will win, its probably the worst matchup for Nate out there right now.
-
Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
This is a really good match-up IMO. Tough fight for both guys. I'd have to favor Guzman also but I'll be rooting for Nate!
-
Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
Hard hard to pick, i'll take guzman

Yea maybe.. I just get the impression Guzman doesn't have much drawing power at all. Im sure any of those guys would present at least as much money for CAmpbell, and a much more winnable fight. Not to say I'm not excited about this fight, I'd just like to see Campbell win. I guess Guzman deserves the payday as well, and it is a great fight.

Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
Where Guzman is concerned nothing is ever certain.. annoyingly :-\
So many brilliant fights at lightweight, none look bad.. this is probably bad for Nate though.
I'm a bit worried for Guzman he'll "go" overnight. If not, hopefully the titles help him get some "star" names, and he wont be so bloody inactive.
-
Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
Im still not completely sold on guzman, sure he can box but nothing like floyd. I think his being a bit overhype, his already up in his 30's with no huge win on his resume. So is Nate and Casa but they've been in better fighters with better fighters. I think Nate or Casa can take guzman out of the hype list. I can't see guzman really being dominant against any top lightweights right now, Pac JMM Nate Casa. NOUN. IMO all will be eliminated and we will be back to square one and the two remain yet again will be Pac and JMM, then we can have another fucking crazy lets get drunk and fight Pac vs JMM 3 type night!!! ;D

Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
Guzman is the best Lightweight at the moment and i would pick him to beat everyone at Lightweight including Pacquiao, a fight with Marquez would be a pick em though.

i really don't get why? what has he done anyways? plus his like 35 now and he hasn't fought at lightweight. its insulting to casa and nate. Not so for JMM and Pac cause they too haven't fought at the weight, and those two are the two best at the weight guzman formerly was. Not even just two of the best in a weight class but maybe top two p4p fighter right now and I aint seen guzman scrape top ten at the least p4p ranking.
I think you guys should reconsider about guzman being the best at lightweight, imo his likely to end up smashed up by the other top fighters.
-
Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
Nate has the power to turn this fight, no doubt Guzman will be backpeddling from the first bell. Soto gave Guzman problems when he cornered him, but his problem was he hardly ever cornered him. Nate has way better ring generalship than that, I'm sticking with Campbell. Guzman has only impressed me with his speed so far.

What is it insulting to Casa or Nate ?? its purely my opinion that skill wise he is the best whats wrong in that ?? he has one of the quickiest hands, he reminds me of Mayweather especially with the shoulder roll, he has the quickiest feet. And boxing skills wise he is right up there with the very best at the moment, i know your not high on Guzman but i am and i will for certain bet that Guzman beats Pacquiao if that fight happens.

well its because casa and nate are legit lightweights that has cement accomplishments, ok then its just your oppinion like you said. Plus i am sure you will bet guzman will beat pac ;D 90% of the time you pick pacs oppenent :D
Im gonna go watch more of guzman, but i would never compare him to floyd. Floyd by 28 had accomplished ten times more then guzman has up to this point right now. Skill wise, i think its just a case of fans of floyds style being high on it but yet on an older less known fighter and less than half the accomplishment of the original floyd. it will end as soon as he steps up his level of oppenent, unlike floyd.

I thought he gave Soto a boxing lesson i only had Soto winning a couple of rounds, yes Soto did corner Guzman but that was few a far between. Even great fighters like Mayweather and Jones got cornered from time to time, but Guzman still dominated most of the action against Soto.

Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
Guzman don't carry no weight to the negotiation table. That's why he can be AVOIDED by the "stars".. and why he got his title robbed off him messing about trying to defend in Scotland.
Like Ice.. I too would back Guzman all day long to beat Pac. Fact.

The only fighters i picked against Pacquiao was Barrera and that was because i was being loyal fan, i even stated before the fight that i thought Pacquiao would win. And the other one was Marquez based on a bad style match up for Pacquiao and he did come very close to beating Pac and i had Marquez winning by 1 point. Like i already said to Pacstraightleft i don't dislike Pacquiao i like his style but i believe Guzman is a bad style match up for him, but so is Casamayor and so is Campbell. But i think Pacquiao beats every other Lightweight without hesistation except those 3 names which are pick em fights based on styles.

yea but not by a guy like soto who had 5 defeats coming into that fight.

fair enough.
I don't consider guzman much of a threat, im more worried about casa's power/slickness and nates experience beating pac.

Soto is a good pressure fighter regardless of his record he is a good pressure fighter, like i said Jones got cornered in the past by Montel Griffin and an old Mike McCallum from time to time, and Mayweather got cornered by ODLH, Jose Luis Castillo. Now im not comparing those fighters to Soto but im just saying all great fighters do get cornered from time to time no matter how fast they are. But Guzman still did out box Soto for most of the fight and landed some nice counter's off the ropes.

if the hypes are true, the most to happen for guzman is he'll box pac and win a few rounds but eventually pacs power takes its toll on guzman and guzman gets ktfo ;D
For Casa though, pac and him can spark eachother out in a split second.
for nate, i know baby biatch juan diaz had pillow hands but nate may take pacs pounding and win enough rounds to escape a s.d.
those two are to worry about ;D
and ooh we still have jmm around, that guy just doesn't stay down. for what its worth. JMM wrecks guzman, he needs to be careful with casa though his got power.

Also when is the last time Pacquiao fought a good Southpaw ??

Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
Most of the fight Soto came straight forward following Guzman lead, that shows his lack of skill IMO. Nate knows how to take the step to cut off the ring unlike Soto, if you watched that fight you know what I'm talking about.

alos guzman actually trades which is a horrible habbit if ever he fights guys like pac, casa and jmm. they can sting him in a split second and down goes guzshouldofrun.;D

I think it was round 2 where they both went toe to toe.
Soto got frustrated and didn't have plan B with the remaining 10 rounds.

Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
And before any of the Pac fans say it no it doesn't count when Morales fought the entire 12th round of there first fight in a Southpaw stance ;)
-
Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
doode this is no floyd. you wont see floyd throw wide shot and trade stupidly in the middle of the ring.

it wasnt the entire 12 round but eric is a fxcking legend and crazy fxcking legend. im never going to forget that moment, and i would of never forgive eric if he would of went down from the punches pac landed in that round while he was in the southpaw stance. thats erics last hoorrraaa.
infact that moment inspired me so much, when im going through hard decision moments at work or in life. I'd say to myself, what would eric do? ;D

yea his guzman, not floyd. theres some clear signs of the mayweather teaching but imo he can't carry those wisdom like floyd can. his guzman the one that will throw wide shots and trade from time to time. a meal for the elite really.

That fight had two great moments one Roy Jones putting Larry Merchant in his place, then Morales's corner telling him not to do anything stupid, then he goes and fights majority of the 12th round in a Southpaw stance, you gotta love the heart/macho by Morales. And by the way my question still stands Pacquiao fans, when is the last time Pacquiao fought a good Southpaw ??

was sanchez a southpaw? can't remember but that bastard is dirty.
Yea i remember roy telling larry, you never box so you don't know. but imo roy was kinda exaggerating about pacs confident being bother cause it was like the 3rd round both eric and pac was just warming up. the war just started ;D Also erics camp seem like they were about to either win the lottery or eric would potentially gamble it and set the ticket up on fire.

Yea Sanchez was a Southpaw but it wasn't the Southpaw stance that gave Pac trouble IMO, it was his rough dirty style that was a bloodbath thats for sure. But i would like to see how Pacquiao would deal with a skilled Southpaw like Casamayor because Pacquiao hasn't fought that many good Southpaw's too my knowledge.

it can go both ways though, pac is the top of the class of soutpaws. anybody facing him are being ask the same question, how would they deal with a southpaw especially a southpaw like pac. Casa is trouble for anyone cause like pac he has power plus casa can be slick and dirty.

Re: Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman "all but set"
Julius how much have you seen Guzman fight? Doesn't sound like much. The comparisions to Mayweather are obvious, he's a versatile fighter with virtually the same defensive style as Floyd. The difference is Guzman throws some wide shots sometimes and he's a combination puncher. But he's a lot like Mayweather that's why he got Mayweather as his trainer.
You're comparing his accomplishments to Mayweather which is obviously not what anyone is talking about. And Soto was a very good fighter in fact Pacquiao wanted to fight him I bet you would have never said that if he was fighting Pacquiao. Soto reminded me a lot of Margarito.
To say he would be less of a threat to Pacquiao then Casamayor is pretty dumb Rains I would suggest watching more Guzman.
Anyways, I think Guzman is the most talented guy in boxing outside of Mayweather. Think he wins I would take him over anyone at the weight. Tough break for Campbell.

you saying that is pretty dumb, casa can end a fight in a second while guzman can't and has to risk getting caught til the 12th.
Ive seen enough of guzman to know he wont beat, pac jmm and casa.
what makes you think i wouldnt point out that soto isnt a very good fighter compare to other fighters pac has fought. I would of said he'd be a tune up like larios, infact one of guzman best oppenet = pacs tune up. The only reason pac would want to fight soto is because soto wrecked bobby. knowing he had better fighters to take care of, mab and jmm pac didn't give much thought to it afterwards. plus bobby is always getting beaten.
I was pointing out that guzman is no floyd, not even close. infact if he never had mayweather in his corner nobody would notice much of what he imitates from floyd. he can't hide his real self though, his gonna go wide with his punches or he will run.

Why would that be dumb? When was the last time Guzman sent someone to the canvas?:-\ Is he a dangerous fighter?.. Hell no. Casamayor is the most dangerous fighter at LW, and that makes him a threat to everybody in that division.
Respect it or not, Imo, Guzman is no threat for Pac. Marquez is technically better than Guzman.
