Fighters who you do want to win
As an opposite to the post about fighters you want to see lose, I am sure as with me there are a number of fighters that you would like to see win, even if in your heart you know they probably won't or they always have to do it the hard way. Guys who have the heart but maybe not the full tool kit to really get them all the way. I enclose my list -
Sam Soliman - Is a true warrior of the sport, had a tough start to his career, but then went on a great run, maybe given an extra chance recently that wasn't deserved in the title shot against Mundine but I like him and admire his heart and dedication despite his lack of real world class ability.
Carl Thompson - The guy was the true meaning of heart the guy's boxing ability wasn't great but he would take hellish beating and sometimes still come back, the way he beat David Haye was incredible, and wars with Eubank, the never give up attitude and I will keep coming at you till you knock me out, or i get you, great to watch (Maybe not so good for his head though)
Steve Cunningham - Maybe a surprise inclusion as apart from a robbery in Poland he is unbeaten and a world champion, but he has had to do it the hard way, went to Poland and got robbed, went back again and won then had to defend in Germany, won again, certain lack of power forces him to do it the hard way but I will always cheer for Steve, give him a break and let him defend his title in the US.
Vitali Tsypko - Robbed in France for the European then robbed against Jef Lacy, won eliminators but still doesn't seem anywhere near a title shot, should have been given an easier ride for his talents.
Other notable mentions
Arturo Gatti
Micky Ward
Mads Larsen
Randy Griffin
Joshua Clottey
Alfonso Gomez
Michael Katsidis
Re: Fighters who you do want to win
Pavlik is a guy who i root for.
In the past i lived and died the Thomas Hearns rollercouster :)
Re: Fighters who you do want to win
Kelly Pavlik: Comes to fight; no nonsense guy who has flaws but just brings it and may the best man win. Old school type to me.
Vasquez/Marquez: Those boys will make you fight for your life.
Hatton: When you're that ugly I want you to at least win, so the damage to your face is worth it.
Librado Andrade: As much punishment as that guy absorbs, he deserves to win;D
Juan Diaz: Texas boy who I'm a big fan of. Crazy workrate and makes you fight every second of every round for the most part.
Alot of others, but I'll stop there.
Re: Fighters who you do want to win
Hatton, Haye, Cotto, Pavlik, Pacman.
Re: Fighters who you do want to win
Whoever i put money on.....lol. Actually i don't care, I'm more into good fights than i am good fighters. But if there is one guy i'd like to see get a belt it would be rocky juarez, or maybe even jason litzu (don't ask why, i just like the kid)

;D
Luckily for Hatton, when you have as much money as he does, it doesn't matter if you look like your face has been stomped on by a herd of elephants.
Re: Fighters who you do want to win
Joan Guzman, Juan Diaz, Ouma, Bernard Hopkins (I know he's boring), Cotto, Zab, Pavlik, Mijares, JuanMa, I could go on.
Re: Fighters who you do want to win
You guys are missing the point, most of the guys listed are pretty much expected to win 99% of their fights, I am talking about huy who mostly come in as the underdog, your heart wants then to win but your mind tells you they probably won't
IE - Soliman against Mundine, I knew Mundine would win on points but I really wanted to see Sam win it

My bad, will make a mental note to read people's posts from now on.
Can I still put Zab  Ouma's pretty much done.
Re: Fighters who you do want to win
I almost always cheer for the tomato can who gets to fight the name fighter on WNF/FNF's. Like Torres last night, the poor bastard took a beating.

I hear you on that one,I went way out of the box and lost big on Torres....wtf was I thinking ;D
I root for any 50/50 fighter, the "Padding" brought into fill a void and ones that are given little chance.Upsets keep it lively and fluid....Love the upsets. The underdogs...;D

Sorry; I should have read more than the 1st line of your post:-\
Still, I didn't think Pavlik would win against Taylor, so does that count? And I knew Hatton wouldn't beat Mayweather; though I was hoping like an idiot. Does that count? And I never think Andrade will win. Does that count?;D;D;D

I didn't even get that far, I guess the question just seemed obvious in the title.

TBH about it; I didn't read the 1st line either.
Re: Fighters who you do want to win
Yory Boy Campas, Steve Forbes, K-9, Jesse Feliciano, Emmanuel Augustus, Miguel Angel Huerta, just some off the top of my head.
Re: Fighters who you do want to win
K9 Bundrige, Kelly Pavlik , Cotto , I guess anyone but Calzaghe.
Re: Fighters who you do want to win
Heavyweight = David Haye he is exciting he has great power and he is willing to fight the best.
Cruiserweight = Steve Cunningham isn't afraid of going to the other fighters back yard you gotta admire that.
Light Heavyweight = I would choose Roy Jones Jr but he is old now so im going with Chad Dawson, he reminds me of Herol Graham i love slick fighters and he seems to be willing to fight to best.
Super Middleweight = Librado Andrade because of his exciting style you just have to admire the spirit and the heart of his guy amazing.
Middleweight = Kelly Pavlik a nice guy outside the ring and a hell of an exciting fighter inside the ring everything you want to see in a fighter.
Jr Middleweight = James Kirkland not one of my favorites but i don't really like anyone else at Jr Middleweight, and he seems a good prospect so why not ??
Welterweight = My favorites are Mayweather/Cotto in this weight class but i want to see Joshua Clottley win, he is a good solid exciting fighter who has been unlucky in his career, and under different circumstances could be undefeated in his career.
Jr Welterweight = Devon Alexander the best prospect in this division by far and is the future of the division.
Lightweight = Joan Guzman has been avoided a lot in his career, he is a great underrated fighter with a bit of Mayweather Jr's fighting style in him. I would love to see Guzman get a big win over one of the top boys at Lightweight.
Super Featherweight = Edwin Valero mainly because one of my favorite fighters Juan Manuel Marquez is moving up, and im always a fan of a big puncher.
Featherweight = No one really at this weight class.
Super Bantamweight = Juan Manuel Lopez i want to see him fight Marquez or Vasquez, good fighter with a massive punch and good skills, like i said im always a fan of a big puncher.
Bantamweight = Gerry Penalosa just because i like counter punchers.
Super Flyweight = One of the best skilled fighters out there Christian Mijares, certainly the best fighter at this weight class.
Flyweight = Koki Kameda good solid prospect certainly my fave at this weight class.
Jr Flyweight = Ivan Calderon i love slick fighters he reminds me of Pernell Whitaker a little bit, one of the most underrated top 10 P4P fighters out there.
Minimmweight = Roman Gonzalez good power good hand speed he is the future of the division you wait and see.
Re: Fighters who you do want to win
Id say steve cunningham, arthur abraham, tarver, oleg maskaev, zab judah, jose armando santa cruz, lamon brewwster, kermit cintron, holyfield, and ibragimov. Im pretty sure most of them with the exception of maybe tarver and AA were either expected to lose the last meaningful fight
Re: Fighters who you do want to win
Hopkins, Hatton, Cotto, Juan Manuel Lopez, Jones, Pavlik.
