Duddy; Light Middleweight Champion?
Duddy cited in the Irish media that last Saturday would be his last outing at middleweight for quite a while.
Names like Verno Phillips were mentioned and 154 was named the division of choice for the cultivation of Duddy's futture career.
I think this is the best possible step for Duddy.
Talent at 154 is sparse at the moment and Duddy would be an attractive fight for any of the champs, John would surely have the ability to beat one of them!
He looked good though.
Re: Duddy; Light Middleweight Champion?
Alan the guy Duddy fought had been ICED in a round the fight before ,
i like Duddy hes a nice guy , but he isnt world class for me.
Re: Duddy; Light Middleweight Champion?
I thought Duddy's facial injuries was the reason he didn't go through with the Pavlik fight?
Clearly his mob aint complete sickos.

No not world class,
but I feel a little Gavin Rees-esque ring in the air.
When Duddy fought Eastman he was awarded nearly every round despite the terrific beating Eastman but him through in the last 5 (or 6.)
I agree, not world class, but its not beyond the reaches of the imagination.

I think they've taken the right path.
Re: Duddy; Light Middleweight Champion?
yes ok i can see with a bit of imagination Duddy winning a world title :)
hes actually a great feller
Re: Duddy; Light Middleweight Champion?
Decent fighter but not world class,i think it was a good job he got those injures to his face that caused the fight with Pavlik he gets to stay an unbeaten prospect for a bit longer.
Re: Duddy; Light Middleweight Champion?
He came in real light last few fights at middle like 156 so this is great news, I'm looking for big things with the new trainer Pat Burns.
Re: Duddy; Light Middleweight Champion?
This would be a GREAT move for him... He is extremely marketable as a fighter and he would def. breath some air into the Jr. MW div.
I look forward to watching his progress. He puts on a stellar show!
I sadly could not be right down the road at the castle the other night... Damn dinner I needed to go to.

I remeber a few years back watching Duddy thinking he was the next big thing at 160. Pavlik was 19-0 at the time and fighting locally . Duddy was on TV then. I think a move down to 154 is a great move for him. He definitly will spark up the class with Mora and him. His power is great and his work rate is awesome. To me he is like a Gatti. He has power , heart , and really makes a fight fun to watch. I hope he can grab a belt.
Re: Duddy; Light Middleweight Champion?
No brainer, Duddy vs Mora :)
Re: Duddy; Light Middleweight Champion?
Duddy looked good on Saturday and surely could be threat to any of the titleholders at 154.
Check out the full video of his fight vs. Charles Howe Saturday night here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s66td...d.com/news/119
Re: Duddy; Light Middleweight Champion?
I'd certainly like to see him in with the likes of Verno Phillips and Sergio Mora if he decides to defend.
I think him and Sergio especially would be a great fight, with my money being on the Latin Snake.

That pretty much says it all right there. Duddy will never be champion. He's just not good enough

I used to think that, but I'm not so sure now. If Mora bring the same jab he used against forest, it would be very close fight.
Re: Duddy; Light Middleweight Champion?
Would love to see Mora Vs. Duddy, Mora may be too fast for Duddy, but Duddy is gonna throw some leather and make him earn it alot more than Forrest did.
Re: Duddy; Light Middleweight Champion?
I just don't see it. His defense is so bad its odd, its like he just doesn't see punches coming or something. I think Mora would win 9-10 rounds at least if they fought. Hopefully he improves with Burns but he needs a lot of work. That being said I'd rather see Duddy fight than some of the other guys around that weight and its probably a good move to move down.
