You know i keep hearing about Joes chin Hopkins dropped him while he was off balance. But i dont hear that Pavlik is not a one punch ko artist and you aint knocking Joe out with one shot.

In 18yrs as a pro 11yrs as world champ Calzaghe has been dropped 3x.
In 7yrs as a pro Pavlik has been dropped 2x once by a Welterweight.
Just thought id add that to this stupid Pavlik craze.

I really hope they do... I wish Joe C was 3 years younger for this fight. You are correct about Joe taking apart "come forward" fighters. The thing is Kess was a "come forward" fighter who did very well... almost even in fact until like the 5th round... Joe's workrate just took over and smothered him. Joe was having trouble early due to Mikkel's technical skill. Kessler just couldn't keep it up for 12(never mind the fact that once Joe's confidence gets to that point he'll just eat you alive)
I think that the only fighter in 160-168 that can maintain a steady consistantly high output per round is kelly. They both have extremely high workrates and I think that although Kelly is refered to as mechanical he is very technically sound. I think that coupled with his workrate would give Joe problems. I have bet against Joe before and have ALWAYS been sent packing. Joe is a great champ and would not be at all surprised if he beat Pavlik. I'd like to think that in the twilight of his career that Kelly could actually pull this off but who knows...

Fight has to happen if Joe wins it seals his legacy as a legend a hof fighter
and if Pavlik wins it puts him on a whole new level. There isnt really a downside if either lost there are great excuses either way for Pavlik it would be moving up in weight if Calzaghe he was getting old.
The only problem is weather Joe at 37yo could make 168lbs.

A jolting shot in the 1st round. And McKart was actually a Jr Middleweight not a Welterweight. One last thing you said no one coming forward can beat Calzaghe but i seem to remember Reid playing the counter puncher, in the first 3 rounds against Calzaghe and as soon as he started coming forward and backing Calzaghe up. He started to win the fight and was unlucky not to get the nod.Quote:

Firstly i just checked up and there is no weights showing Zuniga started at 146, the only weights that were recorded were him at 154, but most fighters start out at a lower weight class then move up. Zuniga is now currently at 168 and just knocked out a good 26-0 fighter at that weight class. Which shows he is more effective at the higher weight classes aka Middleweight/Super Middleweight. I never said Calzaghe wasn't aggressive but Reid changed his gameplan and then started to put Calzaghe on the back foot and lead with right hands, just watch the fight after 3rd round when Reid starts coming forward the fight changes around. And Pavlik is very good at putting fighters on the back foot and he can get good leverage into his shots that way as well.Quote:
