Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
Jones knocks him out late.

Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
Jones, Calzaghe is a great fighter, but Jones is an ATG.

Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
Jones would smoke his ass
-
Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
This poll should of been made public. That way we could see what idiot voted for Calzaghe.
-
Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
Jones; is there really any doubt about this?
-
Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
This was a no brainer...prime Roy was pretty close to invincible
-
Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
This one isn't even interesting, Jones.

That really sums it up , Calzaghe is an excellent fighter but Jones was faster hit harder and is as you say an ATG.
Jones ko 5
-
Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
Jones is faster has more power is more slick i mean he does everything better than Calzaghe, and he beat Hopkins with one hand far more convincing than Calzaghe did ;)
-
Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
Jones without any doubt in my mind!
-
Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
Jones would be way to fast for Joe in his prime but it would go the full 12 rounds.
Calzaghe would have a chance as he can punch a bit and also has fast hands but style wise i think the American with the Welsh name would beat the Welsh man with the Italian name.

Or even the Englishman, posing as a welshman, with the Italian name???
-
Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
Jones dominates Calzaghe and stops him late.
-
Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
Gotta say jones....i remember a time when i thought this guy was gonna go like 120-0 at one point.
-
Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
I'd like to see one of the 5 people who voted for Calzaghe explain why they think he'd win. I'm sure it would be an interesting argument if nothing else.

Can guest's vote ?? if not then whoever voted Calzaghe must of just voted him for a laugh or do they really believe he could beat a prime Roy Jones Jr ?? thats shocking.

Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
Jones inactivity and rope a dope would always give Calzaghe the chance to work him over. This fight would not be as clear cut as most people think sure Jones looked good but against who? guys i would not even call tomato cans.
Jones close Dec.

He had a few good fights against good fighters the rest were not in his league.
McCallum was actually 39 years old stop reading off boxrec, and secondly he had some great performances at Light Heavyweight and didn't he give James Toney a tough fight after the Jones fight ?? so that proved he was still a good fighter, Virgil Hill had only lost to two fighters at that time, Thomas Hearns and he gave Hearns a good argument and Dariusz, who is one of the best Light Heavyweights of all time, didn't he make 22 title defenses ?? and wasn't Jones the only man to KO Hill ?? Castro was not fought between 97 03 ?? what does that mean ?? all i know is that Castro was a solid tough fighter who had 70+ fights at the time, and went on to have some good victories.
Lou Del Valle was a good fighter his only loss prior to his fight with Jones was a close decision loss to Virgil Hill, Harding was a good fighter how the hell did he not belong in the ring with Jones ?? he was just coming off beating Antonio Tarver. They others aren't great i'll admit but Jones did fight many good/great fighters and beat them well, and i listed them above. Are you kidding me ?? regarding your last statement ?? lets compare there records to 1997 to 2003 then.
Jones best wins 1997 to 2003.
Montell Griffin
Reggie Johnson
Lou Del Valle
Eric Harding
Clinton Woods
Antonio Tarver
John Ruiz = accomplishment hadn't be done in 106 years.
Calzaghe's best wins 1997 to 2003, you slated Jones's opposition so now i'll give you some facts regarding Calzaghe's opposition.
Chris Eubank = Badly weight drained only had 1 week to prepare.
Robin Reid = Coming off a loss to 40+ Thulani Malinga.
Omar Sheika = Lost to a fighter with a bad losing record, got a robbery win against Glen Johnson.
Richie Woodhall = Coming off a loss to to Markus Beyer who had Woodhall on the canvas 3 times, and lets remember Beyer is a powderpuff hitter 35 wins 13 KO's.
Charles Brewer = Coming off a loss to Antwun Echols.
Byron Mitchell = Coming off a loss to Sven Ottke and recently struggled against Manny Siaca twice who had a record of 14-2.

Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
Jones..... Not even an argument here
-
Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
With both men at their respective best, Jones eats him alive.
I give Jones a halfway decent shot now, and he's nowhere near his peak.

You Sir need to take a breath , i have no idea were you are from or your age , but look at the poll reasults and see that most of the sane members think Jones wins hands down , over rate Jones ? he was a great fighter in his time , as for Calzaghe he is a fine fighter , but not an all time great with his remume , and to sum up , Jones beat Hopkins easily , Calzaghe got dropped and squeeked past Hopkins aged 43 .
I here by rest my case.

No Sheika did not beat Johnson fair and square try watching the fight first before you comment on it, it was a highly controversial decision in which many people thought Johnson won which is a fact. I think you need to check up on your history Eubank was to fight at Cruiserweight if i remember rightly ?? then he was told on 1 week notice that he had to fight Calzaghe, and he had to lose 20 pounds in 1 week leaving himself badly weight drained. And how can you say poor James Toney ?? he was one of the top 3 P4P fighters at that time, and Bernard Hopkins was more experienced than Jones was so i don't want to hear that Hopkins was green excuse. I don't overrate Jones i call it as i see it he dominated good/great fighters, and hardly ever lost a round and never looked being beaten. Calzaghe has looked beatable in many fights and he certainly hasn't got the X Factor that Jones has. Even die hard Calzaghe fans realize Jones was an amazing fighter in his prime love him or hate him that is a fact.
And i didn't see you counter any of the points i stated regarding Calzaghe's opposition, that must mean you agree then ??

I find it strange that anyone a fan of Jones can question Calzaghe resume. The only fights Calzaghe has not totally dominated is Reid and Hopkins both sneaky fighters that do not attack.
Jones is a great fighter but i wont have the dogging of Calzaghes resume then people claim Roy Jones`s was great its not.
I think prime 4 prime Calzaghe gives Jones his toughest possible test weather Joe wins i doubt but his style is and awlways was a tough one for Roy.

Richard Hall (Roids)
Eric Harding
Derrick Harmon
Glenn Kelly
All fighters that did not belong in the ring with him, both Hopkins and Calzaghes resume between 97-03 dwarfs Jones hell Otkkes does.
He had a few good fights against good fighters the rest were not in his league.
Exactly, Calzage is still doing his thing, he has never come close to losing, e would outwork Jones.
Jones didnt like getting hit and anyone who put pressure on him made him go in to his shell, unfortunately the fighters he fought werent on the same level as Calzaghe determination wise, they got scared of Jones speed but when they did put pressure on Jones would cover up and shy away on the ropes.
We all know that Joe can keep the pace all night and the punches just keep raining in, he doesnt just throw whatever he can hoping for the best and then tire like Bryant Brannon, or wait for openings and giving Roy the time and space to work at his own pace like Toney.
Joe sets the pace, makes Roy think and hide and outworks him;)

Jones close Dec.
Heres the names he looked good against.
Thomas Tate
Thulani Malinga
James Toney
Montel Griffin 2
Mike McCallum
John Ruiz
Vinny Pazienza
Thomas Tate
Jorge Fernando Castro
Merqui Sosa
Virgil Hill
Reggie Johnson
Julio Cesar Gonzalez
Clinton Woods
Please tell me if any of those names are bums ??
If Calzaghe had that on his resume than this would be different but Calzaghe is known for fighting easy wins and occasionally (once or twice) taking a risky fighter. Some that Jones made a career out of.

Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
Put it this way, Calzaghe has never comer close to losing in the longest championship reign in boxing;D
Joe has also beaten 2 undefeated reigning champs
Jones has only defeated 1 undefeted reigning champ in Toney
We will see the quality of those wins in the furure for Joe, Toney went on to lose a few times and get caugt taking steroids as has Jones
Both Calzaghes victims have bounced back, 1 with a title
I think it is possibly more patriotism that so many people have backed Jones because how any one can say he would beat Joe handily when he has been sparked and beaten a few times and Joe is still throwing the most punches in a fight out of all the current champs and hasnt come close to losing or slowing down even at 36;D

Im not even going to debate with you on this your previous posts have showed your biased towards British fighters and your Roy Jones Jr hater which is a fact. All i'll say is that you said Calzaghe has never come close to losing then you must of missed his fights with Hopkins/Reid, and also his fight with Salem where he was dropped heavily with a right hand.

Re: Prime Calzaghe vs Prime Jones Jr. who wins?
How is getting floored close to losing?
Split decision wins are also not close to losing, getting a draw is close;D
Jones lost a few times and sparked a couple as well, he also got caught cheating with steroids, its all old news, no use crying over spilt milk.
No one can say Jones would have beaten Calzaghe because Joe has proven unbeatable so far against some excellent fighters and some that were young undefeated champs.
Whereas Jones has proven time again hes not unbeatable;D
Joe would be a handfull for anyone in history;D
