I was surprised your boy Mosley didn't go down from that brutal body shot from Forrest in the 10th round i think it was ?? that doubled Mosley over yet somehow he survived. Mosley is tough as iron it was even more surprising that he survived the 2nd round as well.

Mosely has a chin straight from God's blacksmiths
,but his power simply wasn't sufficient at 147 and 154.
I guess he was still riding high on his lightweight achievements at the time and had great faith in his power.
He's made some adjustments as he's matrured so I hope he can grab another title and retire.

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
About 50 punches that Big George hit Chuvalho with
-
Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
I remember a couple of times during Larry Holmes - Tex Cobb, where Holmes literally lined up Cobb's head like a cue ball and hit him as hard as he could, with no apparent effect.

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
People have misread what i meant, i mean the best single punches that a boxer took and didn't go down. So Judah vs Tszyu or Hatton vs Castillo should not be included.

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
Any one of a number that Cintron hit Feliciano with if that counts.

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
there were about a dozen free shots Lennox Lewis hit a defencless Oliver Mccall with in the rematch , punches that had felled many a good fighter and The Atomic Bull took them all , amazing really .that guy had one of the best chins in boxing history.
-
Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
Well, he did go down, but the dude Berto just got threw smashing weekend before last. When he hit him with that uppercut the guy just popped right back up. I thought that was amazing.
Oh, some of those punches that Vernon Forrest was blasting Baldomir with. The guy didn't even flinch; he's like the Terminator.
Zab Judah's uppercuts against Miguel Cotto's chin.

McCall's chin was phenomenal, but in that match I was thinking it was because he wasn't committing to fighting Lewis. He wasn't risking himself so he could concentrate or not--what the hell am I talking about, the guy was crashing from a crack binge. Who knows? Maybe crack deadens all the nerves in your head.
How about the million 1-2s Lewis hit Tyson with before he finally succumbed to Lewis pretty much pushing him over? People don't really talk about Mike's chin, but he could take a helluva punch.

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
Samuel Peter checking Jeremy William's Jaw!;D

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
DeMarcus Corley hitting Mayweather with the big right hook that staggered him in the 4th round
Ray Mercer taking Tommy Morrison's uppercut can't remember what round.
George Foreman hitting Jimmy Young with a big left hook in the 7th round.
Thomas Hearns hitting Iran Barkley with a terrific body shot that doubled Barkley over in there 1st fight just before Barkley's KO shot.
Gerald McClellan taking Julian Jackson's over hand right in there 1st fight, just before McClellan's KO shot, the sound of that punch was scary.
Barrera hitting Naz with a gigantic hook can't remember if it was his left or right, but it was in the 1st round and Naz actually went into air after that shot. Dunno how he didn't go down from that shot because he was way off balance at the time.

Yea i mentioned in a thread yesterday he had poor balance but i still don't know how he didn't go down from that hook, it reminded me of a ballerina jumping in the air and landing on there tip toes ;D

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
Carl Thompson took plenty of big punches from Haye and come back to win. He also took Eubanks, in fact he took a beating in most fights and won!
Eubanks taking the uppercut from Benn, which cut his tongue.

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
Watched Hatton-Tszyu last night. The left hook I think Kel has in his sig that popped Hatton back and looked like a 1 punch KO shot and Hatton got stood straight up then went right back in with his head down. That was great.
-
Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
I did a thread on this a while ago. The one I started with was Hopkins' right to the body, right uppercut on Tito at the end of the tenth round.

I think it was the 8th round. When the round was over and Oscar lowered his defense and got a straight right. Received the punch and just walked to his corner .
As for a best single punch that comes to mind is Lyles vs Little when Little was going in and Lyles connected with a right hook to the jaw and down he went face first.

I know, huh? In that fight its not like Lewis was really beating McCall, it was more about McCall simply not wanting to fight. It was a bit bizarre.

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
Tuas left hook that he lands on Ruiz (Only the ropes held Ruiz) - rd. 1
Anyone of the 20 something punches Ike lands on Beau - rd. 6
Titos left hook that lands on Vargas stuns him but doesn't drop him - rd. 1
Pacs left hand that lands on MAB I can't believe MAB didn't go down - rd. 11
Paez lands a right hand on Groove that I could not believe Groove was still there - rd. 3

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
I can't believe no one has mentioned (did someone say it and I missed it?) the left hook that Joe Frazier landed on Ali at the beginning of the 6th round in their third fight.

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
I'd have to actually watch the fight again, but one of the Taylor punches against Pavlik I think it was in the 2nd or 3rd rounds of their first fight.. The round where his legs were wobbling for probably 30 seconds... I expected him to go down from any punch Taylor threw after that.. But Taylor didn't do a great job of finishing, and Pav did a good job of staying up... Recovered well, and looked great in his corner at the end of that round as well...
There's been some great drama moments in boxing courtesy of great single punches against men with solid chins...
-
Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
Another Pavlik one came in the Miranda fight where he backed Miranda up onto the ropes and Miranda came clean with a punch over the top that Pavlik didn't even see and Pavlik kept firing through it like he wasn't touched. If Pavlik didn't have a chin he wouldn't be where he is today I think his chin is very underrated.

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
Juan Lazcano vs. Ricky Hatton provided some cracking examples on both sides.
Round 8 Lazcano rocked Ricky only for Ricky to maintain footing and fire back.
Round ten say Lazcano under a heavy left hook slumped against the ropes.

Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
One of my favorites was Tito's left hook to Vargas chin opening the first rounds. That was amazing... I broke my chair jumping while watching that moment ;D
-
Re: The Best Single Punches Where....
I remember in the Tyson - Douglas fight when Tyson walked into a right hand that just bounced off him.
The sound of the shot was sickening.
