Sooooo.....where's Al Sharpton shouldn't Jesse lose his job for this or something?
If he said he wanted to cut Obama's nappy-headed nuts off, then yes, Sharpton would be right there. I suppose in this case it's not what he said, but the language that was used. This is such a non-story. *GASP* a human being was frustrated by something and said something out of turn???
I'm surprised Sharpton didn't show up. He could have trumped Jackson and become the clear 'leader' of the black community. Oh well, he could always find some more illegitimate children Jesse fathered.
Thats funny... Jesse lost alot of face with those remarks and no doubt will feel embarassment, shame and ridicule for his crude remarks... Jesse is sorry only because he was caught
Can i lend them both a knife and watch ???????
Jesse should retire from the public spotlight. Yesterday.
Whoops...open mike :dontknow:.....what are the chances the FOX producers are high-fiving each other like hell in the backroom.....Jesse should have seen that coming and put his always media hungry fat foot in his mouth....:-X
....The Huffington Post.....are you serious? Maybe next time you can use something from a socialist website.
And what does John McCain have to do with this Kirkland? I just wanted everyone to know how Jesse Jackson isn't held accountable for what he says unlike Don Imus. All Jesse will do is say he's sorry and then pick up on some petty mishap involving another black person and create a fuss and then all of a sudden everyone forgets about him wanting to cut Obama's nuts off like everyone forgot about Tawana Brawley, The Duke Lacrosse case, White Interlopers, and Hymie-Town (granted those also involved Al Sharpton but he's out there defending Jesse which is expected).
So do you guys recon theres a big chance Obama will get assasinated if he's voted in?
Bergman is writing straight from the DNC handbook: Step 1: Say they are going to take away your Social Security! Step 2: Complain About War Step 3: We have to get the flip-flop name to stick with the Republicans because John Kerry is still pissed off.
The Republicans and Democrats practice similar politics....but according to voting records Barack Obama is the one towing the Party line AND apparently he feels he must come to the center to win a general election.....if he really was a "transcednent" candidate he would just stick to what he said in the primaries.
What difference does it make that something is in the Huffington post? You can't find a single inaccuracy in the article. Instead of complaining about the source read the article.
McCain is talking about effectively scrapping social security. If you can explain what he says another way then go ahead. And McCain is a flip flopper. He's the first candiate in history to be stumping against two bills that have his name on them (torture and immigration. )
What Jesse Jackson says even on-mike is irrelevant. McCain made a series of very newsworthy gaffes and blunders over the past few days yet the only thing the media are covering is something Jesse Jackson said and how it affects Obama. No the wonder America is going down the tubes.
The only media in the world worse than the Korean media is the American media. And the American media is hands down the worst.
America is going down the chute and really a Democrat government is the only way to go. After all there is no alternative in that so called rich land of democracy.
Im playing on words there but I am quite serious. ;)
Exactly there are no real alternatives. And its only a hope that the opposition might bring serious change. Its quite feasible that China and the US are no different. They implement the image of freedom but the reality isnt all that free at all. China as a system of restriction is rising and the US as a system of democracy whilst all the politicians rake in their money on boards is trying to maintain itself.
Because the Huffington Post are not an objective group of journalists they are liberal 100% unashamed.
Hey anything McCain has done Obama has done worse....FISA anyone??? Maybe next he'll attend Pro-Life Rallies!
If you want change and you believe in hope and you hope for a candidate that belives in change....then you want Barrack Obama.
And Kirkland this thread isn't about arguing about who's going to be a better President if you want that then go ahead and make it but don't come up in here and divert everyone's attention....Jesse deserves every fucking second of humiliation he has earned it!
If guys like Imus get in trouble for silly remarks and JESSE JACKSON holds them accountable then someone should hold Jesse accountable for this! This goes beyond Obama vs McCain this is about that shit head Jesse Jackson who has made a living perpetuating the cycle of racism! He and Al Sharpton and their cronies have held black people back for waaaaaay too long while true LEADERS like Bill Cosby have stated where the next steps are in the Civil Rights movement and if Obama gets shit for saying what he has said then who's in the wrong? Obama said go to school, learn, prepare yourself for work, don't bank on sports or rap or whatever and accept responsibility if you're a father.....is Jesse Jackson opposed to that????? Yeah apparently he is and I wonder why?? Maybe it's because he wants to keep people poor and stupid so they will listen to his divisive speeches and he'll pocket money from sorry ass companies who'll pay him hush money.
As a white guy I have no problem with society expecting me to be responsible, get a job, have an education, contribute to society, and all that stuff...some people need reminding and maybe Barrack has the experience (being from a single parent home) to tell some people about it. I don't agree with Obama's politics but he's correct on what he said...this thread is about Jesse Jackson being in the wrong.....as always
Bill Cosby is a black leader??? I missed that memo, then. I thought he was an old comedian. Newsflash, guys- any black person who gets on a national stage and says something about black people isn't necessarily a leader. Like him or no (which I don't) Jackson played a part in the Civil Rights movement, Bill Cosby just gave voice to what a lot of white people thought but didn't think it was okay to say. Don't buy into the stereotype that every black child comes from a home where they don't know their father.
There's wrong and then there's wrong. Comparing Imus to Jesse Jackson is truly apples and oranges. Calling someone a nappy-headed ho is a world away from saying you want to cut someone's nuts off. It was Jackson's word choice that got him into trouble, not his message. Imus' message (and I know he wasn't the 1st person to say it, but it was his show and he repeated it even) was only meant to be deragatory. Imus, not Jackson, worked for a major company that has shareholders and consumer-driven advertisers to be held accountable to and for CBS to do nothing would have been suicidal. We should not expect freedom of speech to apply in the workplace. Being black, I couldn't care less about Imus' statements. I'd still buy my Colgate or my Miller or whatever other product that advertised on his show. It has to be something extreme to get my ire up and nappy-headed hoes ain't it. That's just a lame-assed attempt of Imus again trying to be Howard Stern. Howard's said way worse and had no ill-effects (because ppl actually like him). Jackson's comment was dumb because of where he decided to make it. He could have easily have said he disliked how Obama speaks down to black people and that would have been the end of it. But it's sensational; ppl latch onto the fact he said 'nuts' and 'cut off' like 3 year olds hearing the 'f' word outside for the first time. It's such a complete non-story, especially when you have things like 'Hymie-town' and Jackson's corporate racketeering that he seems to have skated away from scot-free. If I'm mad at someone I might be inclined to say I wanna cut their nuts off, but that has nothing to do with their race or any stereotypical aspect about them; it's just a nasty thing to say.
I'm not buying into any stereotype...I'm tired of the bullshit excuses! It's not a color it's a way of life because white kids and hispanic kids and asian kids do it too!!!!
Bill Cosby wants people to move forward and contribute to society instead of rebelling from society by not achieving in school and then pinning the blame on "whitey"....I have nothing to do with any reason why anyone is poor or uneducated.....some people (black, white, whoever) need to get it through their thick fucking skulls that they are in control of their life and they choose where they go...they don't choose where they are brought up but they choose what they make out of it. What Bill Cosby says is good for ANYONE to hear not just blacks....get and education, better yourself, and contribute to society! What the fuck is wrong with that??? Is it wrong to tell someone to stop acting like a fucking thug? Is it wrong to try and help them see how they can get jobs and provide for....A FAMILY instead of turning to crime or running away from their problems???
Jesse Jackson pimps his race out for money....he's a worthless piece of shit and why people follow him is beyond me.
Imus made a mistake in his comments with the nappy headed hoes....it was a slow news week that did him in, but when the Pacman Jones comment surfaced it was taken out of context and everyone wanted his head....too bad they didn't take the time to understand what he was saying but then again that was never the way Jesse or Al opperated.
The sad thing is Jesse will still be on MSNBC, Fox, CBS, NBC, CNN and all those other stations whenever there is some kind of racial issue in America....same with Al. And rumor has it that little blurb about cutting Barack's nuts off was just a little bit of what Fox has of Jackson.
Why are you so irritated by two people who are so irrelevant?
Because stations that ARE relevant give them a platform to spread their crap....it's ridiculous
Who cares? There not politicians. There political pundits. It's like when people get all up in arms when Ann Coulture spouts off at the mouth. What public office has she been elected to? These people are non factors.
Jesse ran for President, Al ran for President.....therefore they ARE politicians, not very good ones either
Porn Star Mary Carey ran for Governor of California. I guess she's a politician too huh. I repeat, what public office have they ever been elected to? That's what I thought.
Lyle if it was so easy to get an education and rise from government housing to become a productive member of society more would do it. Fact is, schools in ghettos and lower class societies are complete shit. That's pretty much a fact. Invest money in those things, and you'll see more of the things you wish to see happen.
I do think Jesse Jackson is a bit of a twit, but Al Sharpton does a lot of lobbying for more investment in schools for the lower class and that is a good thing. Obama is also calling for heavy investment in public education, specifically the more lower class schools. If the schools weren't just as shitty as everything else in those environments then you would have a lot more of these success stories Lyle, but given how things are now it's not just as easy as you make it out to be to go to school, get an education and suceed. If it was more would do it.
Yeah but Jackson actually won some states so your comparison while amazingly relevant is still different.
BTW - McCain has joked about killing Iranians twice now. Where's the outrage Lyle? Certainly that's a bit more serious then Jesse Jackson wanting to cut Obama's nuts off.
Actually I'm hoping that McCain wins. If Obama wins he'll have to make painful economic choices and all thw while the GOP will be screaming "cut taxes", despite the fact that that's one of the main reasons for the current economic problems, and it'll mean the next election the GOP will be able to win by offering tax cuts which just makes the long term situation much worse. Better that McCain wins and carrys on current policies until the inevitable meltdown, then maybe we'll eventually get sensible economic policies in America, something the whole world needs to happen.
Same with Iraq. Right now the media is claiming that "the surge is working", so when Obama starts pulling troops out and the violence goes up he'll be castigated. The common wisdom will be "we were winning, we should have just kept fighting, but the liberal surrendered," instead of we already lost.
So Obama stands to be the new Jimmy Carter, dealing with inflation, high oil/interest rates, crappy economy, etc. Much better if McCain wins and inevitably screws things up so badlly that America finally has to get realistic and has the population in a mood to do so.
You can't find a single inaccuracy in the article I posted. Instead of making a straw man argument about how liberal it is try and find something inaccurate in the article. You can't do it so you make your straw man argument to avoid dealing with reality.
Jesse Jackson is just one of a bunch of religious people who use scummy tactics to fire up their bases and make money. I'm sure when radical cleric Pat Robertson says that the US should assassinate a democratically-elected head of state of another country or some other religious nut does something similar you get just as angry. But you'll notice that Jackson didn't say anything racist and he didn't say it publicly. This is just another manufactured outrage by the right, something they specialise in to distract their followers from what's actually going on in the world. It's obviously a very effective tactic too.
OK let's try to figure this out Kirkland, McCain has changed some views of his to suit the Conservative base.....meanwhile Obama has changed some views of his to suit the moderates and independents.....so both of them have done it but you only choose to show what McCain has changed and therefore you're giving half of the story and therefore it's a biased view and therefore it's a negative campaign ad and not journalism.
They are both trying to win a general election it's the same as Bush vs Gore it's the same as Clinton vs Bush or Clinton vs Dole or Reagan vs Mondale etc etc AMEN. The thing you fail to realize is that this thread is not about McCain and Obama but about Jesse Jackson, if you want to debate the Presidential Election then make a thread about it otherwise stick to the topic at hand.
And I couldn't wait until someone blamed Fox for some "vast right wing conspiracy"...Kirkland Jesse did have a mic on and he was stupid enough to say what he said infront on a camera whether it was on or not was a gamble, he took it and he lost. Now I want him to suffer the kind of fate everyone who has crossed him has suffered. Yes Pat Robertson is a very good comparison he's a nut job as was Falwell.....as is Sharpton as is Farrakahn as are Wright and Fleger they are all a bunch of idiots and if I was running for President I would run on the platform that we load them into a rocket and fire them into the sun!
Try reading the article Lyle. Flip flopping is one or two issues out of ten, and only because he made those filp flops this week. One point in the article is McCain's plan to balance the budget that includes no actual numbers. His entire budget-balancing plan revolves around "winning" in Iraq, yet not one dollar from the Iraq or Afghanistan wars is included in the official budget numbers, so even if McCain cut Iraq/Afghan spending to zero it would have zero effect on the official budget deficit. If Obama had presented a joke like that as his economic plan it would still be being talked about all the way up to the election, another example of liberal cluelessness and another reason why you just can't take electing a Democrat seriously. Yet McCain does it and the media ignores it. And that's just one point out of ten.
Jackson didn't call somebody a nappy-headed ho or anything racist in public so there's no comparison to those kind of situations. He made a private comment about somebody that a microphone picked up and the manufactured-outrage brigade spun into a story.

What's racist about "nappy headed ho"??? Please feel free to enlighten me on that one....if you're saying white girls can't be nappy or hoes then THAT my friend is racist....and ignorant...but would we expect anything less from you????
I think the vast majority of Americans found the remark racist and certainly Imus's former employers did, and he was rightly sacked.
You've cornered the market in ignorant racism Lyle, and neither of those terms could remotely be applied to me.
How about McCain's chief economic advisor calling Americans a bunch of whiners for compalining about a recesion he claimed was a figment of their imagination last week? If the Obama campaign had done that then released an economic plan with no actual numbers we'd be hearing how they were out of touch, elitist, divorced from reality etc. But the McCain campaign gets a free pass from the media every time they do something that would effectively end Obama's campaign.
How were Imus' comments about Pacman Jones taken out of context? He provided the context in which they were taken. You already got in hot water for comments you said about black people in the past, then you make another weird comment and when you try to explain it away you only confuse the situation even more. I heard the clips- the extended clips that play both before and after and Imus' explanation makes 0 sense. What, he's not racist because he's hired black people? He's not racist because he allegedly feels the police pick on black people? Please- if the excuse doesn't work for us it doesn't work for Imus, either. Sometimes a dick is a dick and the reason Pacman got arrested all those times was because he's a dick and not because he's black. The police don't follow him around trying to make trouble for him. Imus is a good ol' boy from a good ol' time when saying things like that was no big deal. I'm not going to believe he had some life-changing experience and all of a sudden loves black people. The only person I believe that from is George Wallace and it took someone popping a cap in his ass to change his heart (I don't condone that sort of thing, by the way). I'll acknowledge it's hearsay, but away from microphones, just walking down the hall at work Howard Stern said Imus called a black secretary who worked at the station a nigger. Hell, Imus didn't deny it- he used an excuse, citing those were his heavy boozing days. Sorry, as drunk as I've been I've never gone out and started making anti-Semitic remarks or using slurs against Mexicans. Imus stuck his foot in his mouth again. I don't condone the guy losing his job the first time and don't think he should now. I personally hate that radio doesn't stand up for their talent, albeit I'm using the word 'talent' loosely in reference to Imus, but when they just bend over anytime something that's viewed negatively happens the only ones who suffer are the fans of that particular show. I don't like Imus- therefore I don't listen. If enough people felt that way and enough people just tuned him out and he got fired for poor ratings, that would be fair. But if he has a loyal audience I don't think it's right for someone or a group of someones to put pressure on his sponsors so the guy gets the ax. That's next door neighbor to racketeering in my opinion. But let's call a spade a spade in this case. Imus is a knee-jerk racist and at the very most he deserves his critics.
being an uneducated brit with bad teeth and grammar you`ll have to excuse my lack of knowledge on the whole american political situation.
But from my brief knowledge ive so far managed to work out....
Jesse Jackson - is an over opinonated moron who plays the race card at every turn and is probably as big a cunt in reality as i suspect he is.
Barrack Obama - really looks like he could do with a good meal inside him.
Hilary Clinton - surprisingly gives me the horn :skiing:
Wow.
Dead on about Jesse Jackson (I wouldn't be surprised if he intentionally got caught on camera whispering and it just blew up in his face)
Obama is actually in pretty good shape for a 46 year old. He's not like Clinton was who was a fatty-fat who didn't see a McDonald's he didn't like. It's alleged that during his jogs with the Secret Service he'd stop over and get a Big Mac.
If you get wood over Hillary you are just a sick, sick puppy. The governor of Michigan is kinda cute, though. Just a little moley. Jenny from the Block
Well buddy I heard it in context and Imus meant what he said, he meant "Pacman is black and got targeted by the police because of that"...why would Imus a guy who has DEDICATED (and continues to dedicate) ENTIRE SHOWS to race relations do that? No one he has had on said what he said was wrong and believe you me they would if they thaught he meant that "because Pacman is black he gets in trouble"....that's LAZY to think that you probably didn't even know about those shows about race relations but oh well you won't care because your opinion is already formed and you obviously dislike Imus....oh well I know I'll cry myself to sleep tonight because of it
Kirkland....what have I said that's racist? I asked you a question you answer it by just calling me racist for failing to stereotype ONLY black people as having the ability to be nappy or ho's. I'm equal opportunity offensive I see PLENTY of nappy white people and plenty of white ho's and plenty of other races and ethnicities that are nappy and ho's....it's not ONLY black people that are but if you say so....which if you're calling Imus' remarks racist you're doing then fine have it your way from here on it's only blacks that can be nappy or ho's.
Once again Kirkland this thread isn't about who is going to be a better President this is about how Jesse Jackson is a race pimp and how he's threatened by Obama stealing his limelight. And you recently said you weren't ignorant well not accepting the crux of this thread you're showing your ignorance or your stubborness you're very good at it whichever it is.
If you brand an entire black women's college basketball team as hos or nappy-headed then you're perpetuating racist stereotypes. What part of that don't you understand? Certainly Imus's employers understood eventually.
Jackson hasn't threatened anybody. He's the victim of another manufactured outrage by the right.
Rutgers has white girls on their team and had white girls on the team when Imus made those comments AND the Tennessee team did have black players on their team.
Jackson hasn't threatened anyone? Jackson gets away with corporate blackmail it's how he makes his living....he finds something offensive threatens a boycott and gets big money NASCAR, Toyota, etc. he's gotten a lot of them.
As for being "manufactured" that's fucking stupid he said what he said infront of a camera and while he was microphoned....how fucking stupid does one have to be to say what he said in that situation??? He could have waited until after the interview to have his private conversation but I guess thinking that makes me a racist, I'm happy you're here to call me out of it Kirkland
