I haven't heard much about this fight, It's listed on boxrec as being on FoxSports. Interesting match-up at this stage in their careers, I gotta go Toney by decision.
Anyone have any insight on this?

Last time Rahman smartened up midway through the fight and stopped following Toney around. If Rahman boxes in the center of the ring and paces himself he should pretty much easily win a UD. I'd prefer Toney to win, but that's like saying I'd rather have herpes than HIV. If Toney looks like he did when he fought Holyfield (which he won't) he'll beat up Rahman and win by UD.
Havent heared much at all bout this fight.I hope Rahman ko's Toney but i dount it will i think its a boring fight and Rahman takes a split decision.
Man I really miss Toney...hopefully he can turn back time...IMO Toney was the best defensive fighter in the last 20 years or so...
Is Freddie Roach still training James Toney?
Toney will win if he trains at all for the fight. Rahman looked like crap against Zuri Lawrence.
Hope Toney wins but Rahman will just be too busy and get the decision.
Rahmans activity level against Lawrence last outing was border line sleep inducing.....I think this really comes down to how many buffets weeble-wobble Toney has frequented and if he takes this serious?I think Toney can take a decision if he's in shape :-X
The last I heard Roach didn't want to Train Toney anymore. I guess because he wasn't loosing the wieght or something.
I think Toney might of went back one of his older trainers.
I hope Toney gets the UD but who knows these days. Toney use to be one of my favorite fighters its a shame he let all that talent go to waste.
Rahman-Toney Update!
Thursday, July 10 2008
With less than one week to go before their July 16 rematch billed as "Last Chance" heavyweights James "Lights Out" Toney (70-6-3, 43 KOs) and Hasim "Rock" Rahman (45-6-3, 36 KOs) checked in with updates from their respective training camps. Both normally loquacious fighters were uncharacteristically low-key, indicative of just how serious they are about this fight. The 35-year old Rahman is training at the Gene Lewis Boxing Gym in steamy Mesa, AZ. "I know this is my last chance to remain in title contention,” Rahman conceded. "I just don't want a 'W,' I'd like it to be spectacular....I'll be ready for him." Plans call for Rahman to break his six-week camp on Sunday and head to Pechanga, three days prior to the fight. Toney, 39, has been training at the 360 Gym in Reseda, Calif. He has refused to take his usual profanity-laced shots at his opponent. "I'm not going to run my mouth," Toney insisted. "Just watch me in the ring. That is the only thing I will say to you."

I think this fight will need to be viewed in fast forward just to look realtime :-\
Gotta go with Toney. I'm expectin the worst in terms of a boring ass SD or UD, but hopin for the best.
JFAT Alliance 4 Life right Bilbo?
JFAT for life is right.
Hell yeah. P4p #1. He has moved up through the ranks over 100 pounds, putting Losses on peoples records throughout.
I just read this quote on another site.
"In an appearance on FSN’s “Best Damn Sports Show Period” last week, co-host John Salley commented that in over 20 years he had never seen James Toney in such great shape as he is now"

If its true Maybe Toney will turn back the hands of time for this fight. I would love to see the old Toney show up.
I completely forgot about this fight.
If Rahman is in any type of shape, then he wins. Toney is shot.
Indeed, I'll be rooting for James but I fear he's a shadow of his former self. His fight with Bachelder was just awful.
Thing is Rahman has looked dreadful in recent fights as well.
I imagine we could see a combined 600 lbs in the ring plodding and wheezing their way to the final bell :-\
Toney at his best, in fact even three years ago was awesome, now he should retire.
But I'll be rooting for him for sure, the JFAT Alliance never dies.
You can't root against Toney. He has been one of my favourite fighters for many a year now and its been depressing with all the bans and positive drug tests and the recent performances. Im not overtly hopeful but I want him to be in the best shape possible and just go out there and put on a good show. Rahman has been crap recently and is there for the taking by my reckoning. A win here and maybe a follow up and Toney is back in line for a belt. And then maybe he can retire with his quest fulfilled. I wouldnt say Toney is shot yet. He really hasnt been in any condition for recent fights. A prepared and ready to go Toney might not be so shot.
Both Toney and Rahman look to be in very good shape...actually this is the best (least fat) I've seen Toney look at Heavyweight...with that said, I hope its a good thing....I'll take Toney because he is just flat out a better fighter, easy UD.
Rahman ready to rock Toney!
Friday, July 11 2008
Hasim Rahman, training in Phoenix, has sparred over 150 rounds while getting ready to tangle with James Toney on Wednesday, July 16 at the Pechanga Resort & Casino. "The Rock is training at a high level," said chief trainer Marshall Kauffman. "He's sparred 12 rounds in a single day a number of times. I like his work rate and I am convinced he will beat Toney next week." It's an important fight, titled 'Last Chance.' "We win, we move on to much bigger fights," Kauffman said. Rahman plans to be Los Angeles on Sunday eve to get ready for fight week activities.

lets go fat toney one of all time favorites
Rahman by UD
Rahmans trainer is bragging that hisfighter is sparring up to 12 rounds a few times;D
That is nothing! Really! Alot of fighters do their runs aqnd then just spar, anything up to 20 to 30 rounds in a day, obviously not all the rounds are very competetive.
I am amazed by some fighters training regimes, I read Tszyu only sparred something like 4 rounds a day!
I know Mike Tyson used to spar 15 fast paced rounds a day, thats the only way to stay sharp.
Toney also likes his sparring, if he has lost weight, under 220lbs then I see him winning.
