Well, it is just boxrec so who knows
If it does happen it makes Jones-Calzaghe almost seem interesting.
No it's not. DLH won't fight at 165 and Tito can't go any lower than that.
Been a Tito fan forever (hence the nickname)... but I gotta disagree on one note. Tito CAN go lower than that, and I think Trinidad Sr. is once again exerting his influence where it doesn't belong. Personally, I think a fight at 160 would be acceptable to both, and IMO Tito would have the upper hand.
Maybe it's the cynic within but.....
Why..........For what exactly?
and If in fact I was to give one.......where would I & too whom would I give a shit ?? Just asking.....;D
Hold on now, they also have Soto fighting Barrera and Pacquiao. If it was truly on surely boxrec wouldn't be the one to break the news.
I consider this to be like an exhibition match. de la Hoya has stated he will have one last fight. What a waste to spend it thus. A win here proves precious little.
Well my friend, for your sake & as a Tito fan, I hope you get what you want.I can say Tito was a great welterweight but am hard pressed to catorgize him as such above that weight division.Right now and with respect,I would like to see him win ANY fight but at this point Its more about the 'Name factor' as opposed to the relevancy to the sport here in this match Imo.And don't even get me started on DeLaHypa......he is riding on name nowadays and has himself to blame for pulling that Z.Raheem impersonation so many years ago vs. Trinidad.....I honestly and with a straight face can not call him an all time great fighter.....the Chavez,Quartey & Whitaker (?) wins not with standing.Just me.Hey,If it does come off, lets at least hope they keep it off PPV ;D
Thanks for the sentiment, Spicoli. I'd rep you, but gotta spread some around first.
I respect that. Although I'd say he did well for himself at 154 (the weight he beat Vargas). And although I think 160 was a bit out of his reach, he did start off with a bang, KO'ing a former champ like William Joppy.
Never been much of a De La Hoya fan myself, as many who I've shared with on this forum well know. Not a very popular stance on this forum, but hey... that's what makes our exchanges so interesting around here.
;D
If De La Hoya is only having one more fight, it won't be against Tito. I'm a Oscar fan and thought he was robbed first time around but he knows where the money lies and it aint in a rematch with Tito. He will either try persuading Floyd for a rematch or go for the winner of Cotto Margarito.
Hey guys , try to eliminate that fight out of your minds , that will not going to comes , last week Trinidad Sr. said in the local journal , that Tito will not going to fight Oscar , Oscar don't want negotiate seriously for make that fight , also said that they even know what will going happen with Tito , if he has to retire completely or stay for makes some other fights.................
Oscar is looking for the winner between Cotto/Margaro...............that all...
I hate to sound like a broken record, but just because boxrec says a fight is on, that doesn't mean there should be a thread stating that the fight is happening.
Boxrec is not reliable. They post fights as soon as they're rumored.
It's on Boxrec so i wouldn't get too excited yet.
De la Hoya if it happens should win.
its almost as if the guys who post up the fights read the rumours on the forums and take them as gospel.
I have big doubts about whether goldenboy promotions will be able to sell this and whether oscar himself would be willing to do business with trinidad again!!
Trinidad can punch at 160-he's proven it. Trinidad's problem at 160 was that everyone else was as strong or stronger than him. de la Hoya has proven that at 160 he is not physically imposing. I see Oscar running earlier than he did in their first fight. Trinidad will, as always come prepared physically. So in my opinion, the fight will be entertaining and one that I would pay to see. I admit, I think I am interested in this fight because Felix was my favorite fighter ever and I miss those thrilling fights he had. And I always felt Oscar cheated fans by running in the first fight. That's how he got his nickname "chicken." But really, as a boxing fan, you must admit that Tito comes to KO you and entertain you. That's more than most boxers can claim.
Not to excited for this... I'll watch it but Jesus... This should have happened years ago.
I think it'll be Cotto-DLH, provided Cotto gets past Margarito.
