WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash

Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
I Think Froch would Knock Taylor 10 feet up in the air personally;D
then Bring on Kelly to really light up the division(s).
What a fight that would be!!
-
Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
I think Pavlik Froch would be brutal. Everyone would jump on the Pavlik bandwagon but Im not so sure.
-
Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
Agree,Both have and can be put down and have similar power so it's a pick em for me that one.
Froch would have to be on it though as Kelly has a fierce jab.

I would like to see this matchup with the winner facing Pavlik. But if Taylor wins (and there's a good chance) seeing him lose for a 3rd time would be just awful.

I don't think it will be any sort of eliminator.
Kelly seems conteneted to be a Middleweigfht champ for the time being.
He only followed Taylor in order to clean up any questions about his chin or to dispell any rumours of luck in his first win.
-
Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
But there's no faces left in the Middles for Kelly and he's a natural Supermiddle plus if Froch beats Taylor then that would be the fight to be made.

I'm not sure how much big money fights matter to Kelly at this stage.
Obviously the bigger moeny is attractive, but he's a very young fighter.
He's really still on the first leg of his career so he has plenty of time to amass fame and fortune.
Your 100% correct when you say there are few name fighters left in the division, but there are a few defences he can have that will see him credited for defending at Middle.
Fighters like Rubio and Sturm could do for now and in the next couple of years perhaps Duddy or Lee will take their shots.
Arthur Abraham is also an option I had previously overlooked.

Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
I would absolutely love to see a pavlik - froch fight! But to be honest I dont think the Taylor Froch fight will happen which is a shame! I really wanna see this
-
Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
I wasn't too keen on Froch in the past but every fighter deserves a chance.
a fight with Taylor is a good one for him as it is a big step up in class and would be a good win on his resume.

Same here, I really want him to get a meaningful fight though I think he deserves it.

People crititize his level of competition but it ain' this fault that no one good wants to fight him.

Since Pav can make $2.5 mill fighting the Locketts of this world, I guess he'd need a lot to gain to move up to SM soon. If the JC fight can't be made I don't see Pavlik rushing up any time soon, he's young enough to wait for the guys like Froch to really make a name for himself (IMO Froch not top level, but hopefully we'll find out in the next few months.).

Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
I thought Taylor was gonna take teh easy route and go for Lacy .
Froch deserves this chance and I hope it happens for him
-
Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
If taylor doesnt sign, hes a coward. simple as, people are actually fearing Froch at this momment and Inkin made that clear. There is no excuse for Taylor not fighting Froch other than he is scared. Its a step back to the top for Taylor, so why isnt he taking it
-
Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
Apparently this fight will only happen if Lacy messes up his "gimme" next week.
HBO want Taylor-Lacy NOT Froch.
Obviously Taylor doesn't give a funk about the WBC belt if he can earn MORE money going in another direction ;)

Didnt realise Lacy had a gimme lined up . Anyone weve ever heard of ?
That makes it more unlikley Froch gets his chance then cuz Jermain goes for the money not glory . He admitted as much after the Spinks fight

Taylor has fought Bernard Hopkins when he was one of the top P4P, Winky Wright when he was 2 P4P and Kelly Pavlik twice who might be the scariest guy in boxing, him or Cotto. He's not scared of Carl Froch.

Epifanio Mendoza, very hard hitter but past his best. Maybe the same could be said of Lacy but Lacy operates at a higher level.
And Lacy is ranked above Froch in the Ring rankings, Taylor is ranked 10th he wants to climb and make money, it's obvious who the better fight is for him even though I would love to see him take Froch's undefeated record.

Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
Lacy-Taylor could possibly be for Calzaghe's vacted WBO title when/if it happens.

Winky was never p4p number 2 was he? and even so Carl hits A LOT harder than winky wright can. Maybe after loosing to Pavlik twice he doesnt want to get involved with a live fighter like Froch. Lacy an easy oppanent for Taylor IMO.
I dont get why he wont fight Froch instead of Lacy, its for the WBC belt. Lacy is a complete bum and hes proved that in his last 3 outings. Froch is a true contender compared with Lacy.

Yes he was number 2 before and even on some lists after the Taylor fight. Froch is going to get exposed it's just a matter of who will do the exposing. Unless he revamps his game completely.
The reasons are quite simple. HBO wants him to fight Lacy. Lacy brings more money and is more highly rated.

You need to watch more of Froch he really is going to bring problems to any fighter at 168-175. You will see trust me, he forces the fight and you simply cant box him for 12 rounds. He makes people trade blows, this is where he is deadly, with his power and nimble accurate punches, it wears fighters down. That why a fight with Taylor would be perfect for Froch, Taylor gets tierd down the strech and he also likes to trade punches, what carl likes doing best. Taylor may be a bit quicker, but Taylor will slow down when hes getting constant pressure from Froch, which he will apply for 12 rounds none stop.

Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
Taylor will expose the 168 pound version of Vic Darchinyan quite easily...;D
Pavlik needs to fight Arthur Abraham to really lock up the Middleweight division, I think thats the missing piece to Pavliks utter domination of the division, then he should move up

I read the 1st couple of posts and it seemed that people were hastily matching up Pavlik with Froch already... Though after Taylor demolishes him I'm not quite sure there will be enough left of him to fill a shoebox let alone get snuffed out by Pavlik;D

Lacy really has though; Domintated one side beating by JC, Tyspko was robbed IMO and he bearly beat Manfraudo. Therefore proving me point that hes a bum, hes never going to challenge for a title again and Taylor would beat him easily. Froch is a true contender, hes number in the WBC, Inkin fagged out of his last fight, hes 23-0 19kos, I think that proves that hes certainly belongs to fight with the higher tier fighters in the 168 weights class. Thats why I want this Taylor match badly. Either way, Froch will move on to bigger better fights if Taylor doesnt take this fight.

Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
And I saw Dale Westerman give Carl Froch a mighty run for his money and tag him all over, a 15-5 fighter before he collapsed down the stretch and not get stopped by a punch but because he was to tired to continue. Froch was exposed that night imo.
Jermain Taylor is no Dale Westerman.

Who did he prove it against? No matter what you say, Lacy was still champion, defended multiple times and against better fighters then Froch has ever faced. He's had a bad run I will admit that, but the fact remains that Calzaghe wasn't even Ring champion until he beat Lacy, that has to account for something.
Froch to this point has done nothing but beat C level fighters and struggle with some of them. I can see how you like Froch, exciting and has power but it's pretty obvious that he's got the style that will fail at the top level or even on the second tier.

Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
Taylor is in a different league to anyone Froch has faced.
But
For what it's worth, Lou DiBella has said - Froch will be a much harder fight for Taylor than Lacy will ;)

Even if Lacy fights Taylor at the level he was at against Manfredo, I doubt that. Maybe a more risky fight but I don't think it would actually be harder. That's me though, but I don't think Froch will present many problems at all aside from power but Taylor has a good chin and I doubt Froch gets his power to land much anyways.

Its not been his fault about the level of fighters he has faught. Carl fights whoever is put in front of him, Inkin was the step up and its a shame he didnt get it. If he cant fight Taylor there is a lot of other top 10 decent fighters who would step up to fight Froch.
1 .- Carl Froch (GB) BBBoC/COMM
2 .- Jermain Taylor (US)
3 .- Dennis Inkin (Russia) INTL
4 .- Jean Pascal (Haiti/Canada) LATINO/NABF
5 .- Jurgen Brahmer (Germany)
6 .- Karo Murat (Germany) EBU
7 .- Andre Ward (US)
8 .- Fulgencio Zuñiga (Colombia)
9 .- Markus Beyer (Germany)
10 .- Alejandro Berrio (Colombia)
Stick any of those fighters in with him and Froch would knock them out. Lets hope he steps up well for this fight.

That is where you have forgotton about two of Frochs other strenghts; Nimble footwork, with the range of a fighter figured out pretty early in the fight and accuracy of a punch. Froch aint wasting anything in there.
-
Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
Andre Ward would box Carl Froch's face off. Taylor would do it even worse. Any of the other fighters would be a suitable test for Froch, Inkin is pretty good from what I hear and never heard of that guy in the middle. But there is no way Froch KO's all of that guy, you said I haven't watched enough Froch, think you need to watch a little less because you have clearly fallen in love with him a bit to much,

Nimble footwork? Did you see the Dale Westerman fight? A guy named Dale Westerman completely worked Froch's footwork. The smaller guy, he was faster on his feet and with the hands and I think took the first few rounds. No way Froch has anywhere near the footwork to compete with Jermain Taylor.

Maybe they see it as - Lacy has been totally exposed. Froch, although looks semi-crap more than good.. is unbeaten, ambitious, has a good chin, is a big supermiddle and can bang.
Team Taylor are far more more interested in fighting Lacy than Froch, that's for sure.. but totally understandable as it makes them more MONEY ;)

. . . . . . and less risk

Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
I know all that. On paper Froch is the riskier opponent, but in the ring really don't think he presents many challenges to Taylor. Maybe Lacy doesn't either, to be honest unless he turns back the clock next week I'm not to high on his chances versus Taylor. He has to look really good. But I won't give any ground on Froch ;D
-
Re: WBC extend deadline for Froch-Taylor title clash
The Westerman fight was a very long time ago. Froch has improved A Lot since then and hes improving with every fight he has. Either way Carl still stopped Westerman...
Thats the thing you simply cant box Froch for twelve rounds, at some stage he will have to trade and if he gets caught he will slow down, like every other fighter has tried to do and failed. If you get hit with a Froch punch you will slow down, you simply cant take that power and still be quick as you were before you got hit with it.
Im not in love with Froch I just support my favourite fighter. ;D
