Most Underrated Fights Ever
OK, so we all know about the greatest fights ever Gatti-Ward, Castillo-Corrales ect.
But what are some fights that you really enjoy that nobody ever really talks about as good/great fights? They don't have to be all action thrillers, but just some fights you really find enjoyable that some might not know about or know they were great.
I'll start out.
Lamon Brewster - Sergei Lyakhovich
Juan Diaz - Jose Cotto
Librado Andrade - Yusaf Mack
Jamie Moore - Matthew Macklin
Jean Marc Mormeck - Oneil Bell
There's more but that's a pretty good spectrum to start out I think.

Alejandro Gonzalez-Kevin Kelly. Great fight that rarely gets mentioned.

Re: Most Underrated Fights Ever
"Must spread rep" or some thing. On and off stamina aside....Morrison had a left hook that could hurt ANY heavyweight in recent memory.....Kelly vs. Gonzalez was awesome as well.Who called it,his corner or Kelly ? Frankie Randall Vs. Chavez 1..........just a perfectly executed game plan!Could be a long list ;D

Re: Most Underrated Fights Ever
George Foreman vs Ron Lyle.
No pretense at defense. Just two mighty oaks teeing off on one another. What an absolute delight if you're into heavies.
Floyd Mayweather vs Chico Corrales
To me this fight absolutely showcased Floyd's promise and potential. He had it all that night. That Floyd could have beat anybody within 15 pounds in any direction.

Kelly told his corner he really couldn't see any more. And his corner called it. His eyes were swelling pretty bad

Re: Most Underrated Fights Ever
When I think of this I think of like fights on ESPN2, Telefutura, etc.
Of course there's the king of all ESPN fights, Burton-Ward. But that might not be underrated. Actually it is underrated even by those that say it was a great fight. Letterlough-Gonzalez was fun.
There was a fight on I think Telefutura or some Spanish channel a few years ago between Antonio Escalante and the guy who KO'd Litzau. Jose Hernandez maybe  Was a good fight.
-
Re: Most Underrated Fights Ever
Tyson v Ruddock II
Norton v Ali II
Lewis v Mercer
Ward v Neary
Collins v Eubank I
Just a few under-rated.

That's the first time I've seen someone mention that fight. Yes, Hernandez-Escalante was a great fight. Happened in January I remember that for some reason one time I was thinking of the best fights ever to happen in January and I thought of that one and Bell-Mormeck. Why I was thinking of that I don't know.
I also think of those but so few people get to watch them that I try not to include them but there are so many great fights on ESPN2.
Also, watching Toney-Jirov last night for the first few rounds it reminded me of a cruiserweight Burton-Ward. I realize that's probably flawed, but a raw aggression guy with a slick guy who liked to fight at closed quarters. I don't know, thought Burton was robbed but that's easily one of the best fights of all time. Has to win that ESPN contest for fight of the decade imo.
Darnell Wilson-Kelvin Davis was a good one too. Kelvin Davis was an awesome fighter, very fun to watch even when he wasn't winning it's to bad he fell off that bridge.

Re: Most Underrated Fights Ever
Edner Cherry - Jorge Santa Cruz was a very good scrap on the undercard of the terrible Rolando Reyes-Jose Luis Castillo fight.

Re: Most Underrated Fights Ever
For some reason Naseem Hamed-Augie Sanchez popped into my head. That was a good fight

Nice call , this fight pretty much ruined Kevin , it was brutal

Re: Most Underrated Fights Ever
A fight that NEVER gets mentioned as a great fight was Manuel Gomez vs. Miguel Angel Gonzalez but it was an absolute cracker.
Another of my favorite fights is Erik Morales vs. Wayne McCollough. That one has gotten a bit more credit, but not enough
And maybe the most entertaining fight I have seen, in a "What will happen next??" kind of way, was Bowe-Golota 2

Haven't actually seen it, but I did watch an ancient ESPN replay not to long ago, of a young Kevin Kelly vs Troy Dorsey. That was also a great fight that I've never heard mentioned, toe to toe battle till the end. Kelly really liked to fight to much for his own good and gave up all his advantages, I actually thought he may have lost.

Re: Most Underrated Fights Ever
Alex Arthur v Gomez and Stevie Foster were great fights

Tua v Ibeabuchi(does get alot of credit from fans though)

Niiice. This is one that helped seal me up as a fan.....fantastic back and forth and all time KO from nowhere,I loved when Dierdorf (?) was laboring..."And still,no right hand,he has not thrown it" etc.I think the first one Davis threw in the 9th is the one that pole axed Breland.Awesome!

Yes that would have been another one I posted. Two of my favorite contenders from that era, Davis was a spark plug. Almost out in the round or two rounds prior and boom, Breland ended up laying on his own feet.

In a way,Ive always thought Davis was a little underrated...just abit.He was just one of those solid types, nothing overly outstanding but all around solid.M.Taylor made him look a hundred years old though.Aaron has some big time battles,Rupa,Brown & Marshall fights.Thought he was jobbed for the title vs. Vasquez from what I saw.
and you have to love The Pazienza drubbing....( I did ;D)....He made Paz look like a misshapen bloody gargoyle and just tore him a new one :-X

You mean Mahyar and Somsak FOTY 2006?
If so ONLY Mahyra is French and Somsak is Thai.
Here's the link to that fight.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLGYnc2XJiE
I personally don't think fights that are FOTY are underrated but I think due to the fact that both fighters were pretty obscure at the time this fight is an exception for me and I def. agree with you booze.

Re: Most Underrated Fights Ever
I always liked
Rocky Lockridge v Tony Lopez 1
Tyrone Trice v Simon Brown 1
