Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
Come out of retirement to fight the winner of Cotto/Margarito? He will get punked out of retirement and finally challenge the winner.... It's all about MONEY Mayweather.
-
Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
Perhaps. I don't know if he really wants to fight one of these guys though.
-
Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
His bitch ass better, I got ridiculed so much for being a huge fan of his. Trust me...It's all about the Benjamin$ with him.
-
Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
If Margarito wins agaisnt Cotto this is the first time Mayweather will have had a reason to fight him. If Cotto wins this, and then fights ODLH or Pacquaio or whoever then he will have the name to draw mayweather out, but as things stand neither of them are that big of a name. I think Mayweather risked way more to himself in terms of losing when he fought Oscar at 154, who possesses speed, power, boxing ability, great chin, great level of competition.
-
Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
Delahoya Vs.Pac is a fawking joke name event.....not the names just the "Event"
-
Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
DelaHoya just picks on the small guys, Notice he never called out Calzaghe or Pavlik. I think Pac-man is breaking off more than he can chew.

What are you fucking talking talking about? if cotto wins this AND beats oscar or pac THEN he has the name? are you seriously that far up mayweathers ass???
He has the name now, he is the best WW in world now, and was the #1 ranked when mayweather "retired"
Now i am hoping this is another stunt to get more interest in him fighting the winner coz i like floyd, quit a big fan now. But if he doesn't fight the winner RIGHT away then he is a pussy and a coward, simple as that.
Is is still in his prime, there is no excuse at all.

Since Floyd announced his retirement, ive dreamed of the scenario that Floyd would kinda feel compelled to come out of retirement after Arum offers his no.1 fighter to Oscar for his last fight, as a retirement gift, later this year. (possible).
If Oscar fights Cotto and looses. You can bet your house that Floyd is hounded out of retirement.

Seems like you are that far up your own ass. If you think Cotto and De La Hoya are remotely comparable in terms of numbers you are absolutely clueless. The fact is that Oscar is a FAR bigger name than Cotto is in the sport, and even Pac is a much more known fighter. I do excuse you somewhat though, as those in the UK generally don't have a good feel for which American fighters are the bigger draws etc, I find often you are delluded by which would hypothetically be more enteratining fights.

Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
I've always looked at Floyd's retirement as nothing more than an extended vacation.
Assuming Cotto wins next weekend, I give Floyd-Cotto at least a 50/50 shot of happening in 2009.
-
Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
Don't really care.
I'm in a pissed mood right now so before all you Mayweather fans start chatin shhiuat, let me tell plain and simple.
Mayweather is not a true champion!
-
Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
floyd's retirement is just an excuse not to fight. he is scared to suddenly lose his virginity. a real champ wont pull a retirement card, he'll continue to defend his rank. all those abc belt he took from lesser fighters and how many times he defended against numero unos?

At this moment your probably right they might not be big enough names to draw out Mayweather but they can make each other household names over night if they have an all time great fight in the same way that Morales and Barrera did. I know they were big names before they fought each other but they really hit the big time after they did fight each other.
As for Mayweather as long as its within the next 2 years I can't see Cotto or Tony beating him if he does come out of retirement to fight the winner.

I am up am very far up my ass, but that has nothing to do with my post, u clearly have readinf issues, where did i even pose the question about Cotto being bigger or as big as Oscar name wise?
All i argued was that Cotto is a big enough name now to fight Mayweather, shit he would have an entire country behind him supporting him, mayweather wouldn't have 1 entire state.
Next time you try take a shot at someone, make sure your spot on otherwise u come out looking like the complete cock u do now.

Beating Margarito who nobody knows besides the boxing world how will that draw a larger audience for a possible Mayweather-Cotto matchup? And how am I up Mayweathers ass, I think Cotto deserved a shot after he beat Judah, but Mayweather wants money, so Cotto needs to be able to offer a fight that makes Mayweather a lot of money, and in order to do that he needs to beat ODLH or Pacquaio to make it mainstream.
What I am saying Preme as I just did above is that Mayweather wants money so regardless of Cotto's impeccable credentials and skills he needs to make himself more of a financial draw, and to do that you need to get your name out there ie. fighting ODLH.

Yeah he only fought Hopkins, Vargas at 154 ... Oscar wants a big name fight, and nobody around these weight classes draw that like Pacquaio does. Also Manny has a better chance then a lot of you guys are giving him. Its not a big chacne, but its there.

Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
The thing that suprises me is when Hatton made the comment about Floyd after his kayo win over Castillo, PBF jumped the gun and fought Hatton. But for years people has been clamoring about a PBF vs Margarito(that Tony definitely wants) and PBF vs Cotto that fight fans also wants, but in this case Floyd dismisses it as if they don't pose any challenge well if that is a fact then he should prove it.
Fight fans like me don't want to get into an argument regarding PBF's skills coz it's obvious he's definitely the best skilled fighter but does that mean he will beat Cotto and Margarito, HELL NO!! PBF has prove it to us fans, and yes I'm sure he will come out of retirement probably to challenge a smaller man in PACQUIAO.

Yep, The winner of Cotto/Margarito will probably get punked by the commentator into calling out PBF and this in turn will bring PBF out for one more fight.

Just one fight is what we ask for from PBF, and that is fight the winner of Cotto-Margarito. If he beats em he can run his mouth all he wants and I'm pretty sure nobody can and will rebut him.

Yep, I believe he has the Tools to do it. We can just hope

I'm sorry Bro, I'm not a PBF fan. COTTO is my boy all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

Haha Ok Ok, But it would be nice to see him come back an fight the winner.
-
Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
mayweather is much better than cotto i think cotto is overrated sure he is a good fighter but what has he done except go life and death with an old mosley and a mentally fragile zab judah ?? i mean even watching his jr welterweight fights theres no names that stand out except feather fisted paulie, journeyman lovemore, and jouneyman mohamed who was only good in the amateurs, and torres who is can bang but is seriously limited

Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
I think we are all in agreement that PBF is much more skilled. But there is a reason that we actually have the fights! I mean if it was only skill that determined these things, we could just pair them up on paper and pick a winner like some board game. Saying you are the best doesn't cut it.

Totally Agree, That is why it is a must to come out from under the bed and fight the true champ weather that be Cotto or Margarito.
-
Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
im not saying mayweather shouldnt fight him i just think people have overrated cotto im not saying he isnt quality fighter but all of sudden cotto is now an almost unbeatable force from what i have read on a few forums just because he went life and death with an old shane mosley ??
-
Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
Well Cotto beat a HOF in Mosley he was past it but so was Oscar and that is the only HOF that the Mayweather has so they seem pretty close to me Cotto done plenty Mayweather at Cotto stage was the same let it be and dont start that Cotto has done nothing stuff its just sad.

Mayweather was moving up in weight to fight oscar at a weight class he has never fought at before and comfortably beat oscar on points there is a difference plus i would say Corrales will be HOF and i think genaro hernandez is not far off hall of fame and neither is castillo and why do you have to say my comments are sad ? i never said cotto hasnt done anything i said he is overrated as i pointed out except for a life and death fight with an old shane mosley and a win over mentally fragile judah what has he done to show he can compete with mayweather ? i also never said cotto isnt good fighter but if you look at his resume at jr welterweight and welterweight i do think he is a bit overrated as i have said i have read few forums making out cotto is some sort of unbeatable force i just cant understand why i think cotto is very good but like i said he is overrated but that doesnt mean cotto vs mayweather shouldnt happen if cotto beats margarito

I wouldn't say that Cotto is "overrated".... Perhaps by not having been through some serious threatening fights yet,,,, the word you could probably use is perhaps "untested"? If that's how you would put the quality of all his opponents up until now...
But some people do think that he'll get past Margarito and a Mayweather... So far I havn't seen much from him that says he can't do this..
I think once the signs are there that a fighter isn't all that,,, but people continue to ignore those signs,,, then I myself would use overrated as well...
But I would more agree with you by saying that Cotto is truely untested yet... He is the hotest prospect at the moment though, and it's hard to overrate a prospect that hasn't shown too many signs of crumbling under the pressure of a big name...
BUTTTT He WILL be tested over the next 2 years though without any doubt, and we'll ALL see exactly how well he's been rated by everybody..

One thing I know about this Cotto vs PBF fight (in case it happens). It will be exciting FOR ME because of Cotto!!!;D;D;D

People thought Hatton was dangerous for Mayweather, he fought him, people definitely though Oscar was a huge danger and step up in Class, but Mayweather fought him, same with COrrales, Castillo the second time, G.Hernandez when they fought nobody though Mayweather was ready.
Bascially he has been dealing with this drama his whole career, people say he isn't ready for this guy or that guy, and Mayweather steps up and proves everyone wrong.
When it comes to Cotto or Margarito, I think Margarito is a given win for Mayweather, Margarito style, physical abilites, technique all lead me to believe he wouldn't be fast enough or good enough to beat Mayweather. Cotto however could present some challenges similar to Castillo, but Cotto is a better boxer, and a little quicker than Castillo as well. IMO Cotto is the real question, and I think Mayweather will come back and fight him, after Cotto beats Margarito and ODLH should he win that.
-
Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
There's no doubt PBF will be back to challenge the winner
-
Re: Who Else thinks Mayweather will...
I dont think Mayweather will come back to fight Cotto tbh.
Why turn down 20-30mill against Oscar an easier fight then fight Cotto for maybe half that probably less than half.
Mayweather is done he had a moster deal infront of him against a guy he already beat it was easy money. I think Floyd retired for a real good reason what it is i dont know.

Talk is cheap! I like fighters that just fight! Cotto, Pacquiao, Pavlik! Those are real fighters!

I hope he stays retired but i would love to watch him again against anybody as a fan.
