Calzaghe injured fight postponed

Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
Sept 20 was a crazy date.
That only left Calzaghe and Jones 8wks to get a camp and promotions under there belt.
I doubt Joe is hurt more like wants to be able to promote it then have a good 10wk camp.
Jones seemed very keen to get the fight done for Sept 20.
Still a mismatch.

Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
Maybe he just want to fight the winner of the Pavlik Vs Hopkins fight instead, But that really don't make since either because the Jones Jr fight will be a big purse.................... Fuk maybe he is hurt, We will probably never know for sure

Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
Well remember he pulled out of the Lacy fight once after stupidly fighting Evans Ashira and breaking his hand then toughed through it despite reports that he broke it again. Afterwards he confirmed it broken. Maybe he won't pullout...

Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
Is boxing talk credible. isn't Greg Leon that idiot that advised Allen Green to turn down the Kelly Pavlik fight?
-
Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
Heard that a 3rd party got in the way of negotiations - not sure who but maybe there 1st name is Fwank.;D

Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed

Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
The fight will happen. Calzaghe just needs more time.
-
Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
It says it will be in november, was gonna go to Vegas for Hatton fight but i might change my mind and go to New York now.

Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
.....hands hurt already ?? I'd rather wait six months then have calzaghe give excuses of why he lost. Injuries happen i guess, but brittle hands in training just don't sound too good.

Isn't that the same injury he had when he was supposed to fight Glen Johnson?
-
Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
He has always had hand problems thats the reason he doesnt do alot of sparring before fights.

That's a new one on me :-\
Whatever you think of JC do you honestly think Lacy (at the time) Kessler and Hopkins were fights that somebody ducking Glen Jonson would take

I don't think Calzaghe was ducking Johnson, and I don't think that's what Tysonbruno was saying. He was saying Johnson got tired of waiting (and not earning) for Calzaghe to be healthy so he moved on to fight others. I really wish that match could have been made, would have been a wildly entertaining fight, but it just wasn't in the cards.

Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
I think it's his right hand this time, not the one he broke against Ashira. It's possible that date and Frank does have something to do with it. Jc has been on holiday since Hopkins, only got back last week, 8 weeks is not enough if you've been doing nothing for months.

Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
Roy Jones Jr. fought Hopkins with a broken hand......and won.
-
Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
Jeah but if he had lost you would have never heard the end of it, so I'd much rather a fighter pull out if he's hurt than use that as an excuse after the fight.

Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
calzaghe getting "injured" before a fight in which he could potentially lose to an old man...
shocking :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
-
Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
I would rather see him fight at 100% so there will be no exusess if he loses.

Cetainly did and it was a much better version of Bernard than Calzaghe struggled with. But Roys not that man anymore either, still think he will win though.

That's very debatable - neither were prime versions. The B-Hop Calzaghe beat was coming off 2 of his biggest wins.
-
Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
The Hopkins Calzaghe beat 43 or not was easier to beat than the 93 version Roy got.
That Hopkins activly pressed and let his hands go that is chick feed for Calzaghe who would pick him to peices.

Yes against a seriously weight drained Tarver and a blown up light middle in Winky
-
Re: Calzaghe injured fight postponed
All his biggest wins are against blown up 'little guys' i.e DLH and Tito. I could pick holes in most of his opponents throughout his Middleweight reign
