Enzo Calzaghe on Hopkins vs Pavlik.
"Bernard Hopkins will beat Kelly Pavlik, I have no doubt about that," Enzo declared to Setanta Sports. "Pavlik could beat Jermain Taylor because he [Taylor] only had a plan A. Hopkins has a plan A, B, C and D. Hopkins is a different class to Pavlik. Pavlik isn't in the class of a Roy Jones or a Joe Calzaghe. I'm not sure on the round, but I know Hopkins will take him to school. Hopkins can nullify his punching power with his movement. Gary Locket said himself: 'He beat me, but he's nothing special. I know Joe would beat him.'"

Re: Enzo Calzaghe on Hopkins vs Pavlik.
Seems like Enzo is still scared of Pavlik.

It's funny that I chat with a few proffesional boxers(Legit) on my space and one of those being Gary Lockett. Gary Locket said this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who do you think will win out of Hopkins Pavlik, I Pavlik kills that fucker

Re: Enzo Calzaghe on Hopkins vs Pavlik.
It's all about taking quotes out of context.
Lockett on Pavlik - "There's no shame in losing to a world-class fighter like Kelly Pavlik because he has the ability and promise to go down as one of boxing's greats." BBC SPORT | Boxing | Lockett considers quitting boxing

Sounds to me like 'Bozo' is being more hopeful than not that Hopkins beats Pavlik therefore not forcing a Pavlik V Calzaghe fight!
Joe Balls will be lucky to get past RJJ let alone be worried about a future match up with Pavlik.

Re: Enzo Calzaghe on Hopkins vs Pavlik.
I think Enzo is creating a future storyline.

"He beat me, but he's nothing special"
Lol! He battered the hell out of me for three lopsided rounds, but he's nothing special.
-
Re: Enzo Calzaghe on Hopkins vs Pavlik.
I found this rather boring. Enzo is just trying to build up Hopkins because Joe won a split decision that was very contraversial. If Pavlik knocks the stuffing out of him by ko , tko or a one sided draw then Joe almost has to face him other wise he will look like even a bigger coward than now after ducking Pavlik. Enzo is a f*****g idiot. I just dont care about him any more. His talk flows like crap in the sewer.

Yeah really. Is this the best they can bring. Give him Abraham , Strum , Hopkins , Kessler , Calzaghe. I think he beats them all.
-
Re: Enzo Calzaghe on Hopkins vs Pavlik.
I find Enzo rather boring. He looks like Splinter from the Ninja Turtles and he's just a horn blower. I could perfectly imagine him being 2 feet tall in the 1400s as the little guy who walks in front of the King in the Castle constantly shouting ALL HAIL THE KING at the top of his lungs dressed with a little trumpet. Really, he's so incredibly annoying, not just this but everything about him is just very, very annoying.

Gary must not hold himslef in a high regard obviously .
I can see where Enzo is coming from though when he says Hopkins has different plans. Pav looked pretty straight forward vs Taylor the 2nd time and Joe who has a brilliant boxing brain and workrate barely got past Hop. I think Nard may steal the fight with Pav by a bout a round or two just on experience.

I cannot see it. I see his only ticket to winning is by knockout early or cutting Pavlik up, which he can do. If he does not, Pavlik will get into the fight, throw his usual million punches and simply outwork him. How much Pavlik lands will not matter. If you got a guy that is 4X as busy and who fights full three minute rounds, it will be hard to out point him.

Joe throws alot more punches than Pav . He even landed over 100 more on Hopkins according to the stats yet still alot of people thought Hopkins won

Not much more, especially when it comes to meaningful punches. The reason Hopkins kept it close, was because Joe gave him a lot of respect early and Hopkins got some rounds and that knockdown in. After the 6th round, I mean Hopkins was not doing much of anything. An occasional punch and lots of posing.

Re: Enzo Calzaghe on Hopkins vs Pavlik.
Joe throws alot of quick fire punches, whereas Kelly doesnt, so if anyone was gonna land more punches on Hopkins between Joe and Kelly it would be Joe.
Joes punch output was well down on his usual because of how Hopkins spoils, 100 punches through a whole fight isnt that much really, I dont think, Pavlik is gonna struggle to keep Hopkins at the distance he needs to offload and stay on top in the punch stats.
I think Hopkins Pavlik will be a closer fight than Hopkins Calzaaghe

The reason that people thought that Bernard won was because he landed the more telling harder shots. Joes shots were again with the inside of his glove like a slap and therefore had no chance of KOing Hopkins. I personally thought that Joe JUST won the fight but I see Pavlik stopping Hopkins. Then again you can bet your life that Bernard studies what Taylor was doing in the first fight with Pavlik before he got KO'd because it looked for all the world like Taylor was going to do a number on him.

Re: Enzo Calzaghe on Hopkins vs Pavlik.
I think Hopkins will beat Pavlik. I just seem him probably nullyfying him. I could be wrong tho.
Don't get me wrong, Pavlik is tough, has power and heart. But i think Hopkins has enough left to be able to figure him out....unless he gets hurt a few times.

If Pav is nothing special then that speaks volumes about Lockett; the same guy Enzold said would ko Pavlik.
Liking Joe is hard to do when his muppet dad is always opening his gob. Can't wait to hear what he says after Pavlik beats Hop{assuming he does of course}. He'll probably say Pav only beat him because Joe ruined him 1st;D

Maybe arm punches and slaps. Pavlik throws about 80 - 110 a round. Real punches from all different angles.

I sure dont. I dont see Hopkins able to put Pavlik on his ass. I dont see Hopkins hurting Pavlik at all. I also dont see Pavlik leading with his head exposed trying to land a flurry and getting caught.

Whats funny is that Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr could both win there fights and there could be rematch between the two old legends it can happen never underestimate the cagey old legends.

i see hopkins slumped in the ropes and pavlik landing shot after shot to his head.

Though I see Pavlik winning by UD; I don't see Hopkins, being the vet that he is, sitting around on the ropes waiting to get off one right hand to Pav's 30. He'll use the ring and hold Kelly when need be. We all know B-Hop has a good chin, but I doubt even he wants to see if he can take all of what Kelly will dish out if given 1/2 a chance.

Calzaghes output was 70% of what it was against Kessler.

Pavliks punches dont come from angles he does what he does very well but he has no footwork and because of that will struggle to find a solution to Hopkins holding.

I didn't mean it that way. I mean't he'll be like miranda and taylor, slumped in the ropes with punch after punch dinging off his head, knocked out but still slumped in the ropes.

Re: Enzo Calzaghe on Hopkins vs Pavlik.
Enzo = :blahbla: out his :bootyshake: .
I go to parties every now and again and there is always one drunkazz who just talks nonsense, and the more and more nonsensical it gets, the louder he goes. I try to just stand far away for fear they may throw up on my shoes and then I'd have half a mind to throttle the blowhard prick for it.
Yea, that guy, that to me is Enzo.

100 more what against Hopkins? I still find it hard to believe when people classify what Joe does as punching. Pavlik throws real punches as apposed to Joe's slaps! If you ask me, Bernard will be more worried about Kelly's offense than he was against Joe's.

He might beat them but he's beating the Gary Lockett's of this World and lining up fights with people like John Duddy and Felix Trinidad.
Fight Abraham he's a middleweight champion and has a legitimate claim to being the best in the division but Pavlik and Arum hardly mention him - Why is that?

As well he should be. The thing about Pavlik and the way he hits is that it is deceiving. You see him throwing punches and landing, and they don't appear as yet dangerous but maybe could be soon, but...BUT...then you look at a person like Locketts face was 3 rounds in...and realize it was quickly being taken apart...a shot at a time. His punches carry damage. Enzo knows this. He saw it up close and tossed the towel. Otherwise we'd be talking about the Pavlik/Calzaghe fight coming up...not Hopkins.

He has a mandatory lined up next. Making this fight now is immposible. It will happen though by the next couple of fights. Pavlik will crush him inside of 8. Trust me. He will put Arthur into a defensive shell and pummel him.
-
Re: Enzo Calzaghe on Hopkins vs Pavlik.
Pavliks fists are bigger than most Heavyweight Champions in History from recollect I think only 2 had bigger fists than Kelly.
I can see Pavlik winning this decisively if he's assertive - he has the reach and power to punish Hopkins but if he lets Bernard control the tempo and sits back like Howard Eastman did then Pavlik won't look good.
I think Kelly will finish Hopkins off.

Arthur always fights behind a defensive shell and then boom gets you with the counter. Thats Abrahams style of fighting - Pavlik won't force him to do what he does anyway.
Abraham has the better defense of the two easily and hits just as hard as Kelly. One has a dodgy chin and that is Pavlik.
Great defense and power beats limited defense and shaky chin most times.
In saying that I will be cheering on Kelly and believe he can win but I won't expect it to be easy for one minute.

Locket looked like he had a broken nose after the second knockdown. Great thing with Pavlik is is short deilvery for such a tall guy. He pushes that right hand right out and for pushing punches still packs great power. He has one of the best jabs in all of boxing. He throws it hard and lands it. Those stinging jabs really help him land the right and by that time you cant really see it coming.

Pavlik a dodgy chin? Are u serious? What cos he took a knee against Taylor after taking 4 or 5 bombs? Pavlik's chin is one of the best i've sen, he walked straight thru Mirandas bombs.

Enzo has something derogatory to say about an opponent Joe is "ducking" to use the parlance of our time.....how refreshing, new, and different
