Just a little vid i found on Tszyu that reminded me just why i liked him so much as a fighter. Ignore the ugly singer at the start and admire the power of the man.
The Grove KO is brutal and i think should be mentioned more when ppl talk of great one punch KO's.

Like in that first ko, he used to love to measure the distance with the left tapping waiting for a reaction then straight down the pipe with the right at exactly the right time.
I sorely miss Kostya; a great fighter. Sad alot of people remember him mostly for making Judah break dance;D

I gotta disagree with you there, buddy. Kostya had a 13 year career in which he had only 33 fights. Zab has been fighting 12 years and has had 41 fights, is still active and has not been plagued by injuries. It's easy to forget the dominant career Zab used to have because of how he's been showing in recent years, but it can be argued that Zab was the more exciting fighter even though Kostya beat him. The right place at the right time means something. Hell, Kostya didn't have to move to Australia- it's not like it's a boxing mecca.Quote:

Excellent mid distance fighter with excellent timing but an average inside fighter at best thats why he lost to Vince Phillips because he couldn't get any punching room...........
Kostya Tszyu generates his power better at mid distance still a great fighter but that was his weakness when a fighter fought him in a telephone booth it is quite a shame Kostya Tszyu never got a chance to show his skills against the top boys i think he would of done well against most of em.
Yep my hero and knew it was time to retire after Hatton so quite a sensible man too. If only every boxer was like Kostya
Call it good timing or something else but his level of competition early on was pretty dern good.
Two fighters have made instant fans out of me by beating... er... humiliating someone I hated:
Kostya Tszyu (Zab Judah)
Marco Antonio Barrera (Naseem Hamed)
Actually, I was a fan of both before then, but this was icing on the cake.

koysta is one of my favorite fighters. I like how he destroyed jcc, i always like how piss off jcc looks when his getting beat. Like how oscar did him.;D

I don't think we ever saw the best of Kostya Tszyu, he had some injuries to contend with and in reality he had a 3 year period where he was unstoppable from 1999-2001. He never got his chance of a mega fight against DLH or Mosley and boxing as well as Tszyu was the loser there. He would have caused both those guys major grief if those fights had of happened. His people were pushing for a fight with Chavez as early as 1994 after his win against Laporte in only his 4th fight! My guess is Chavez knew exactly who Tszyu was and wanted no part of him then. Both DLH and Mosley knew of him from their amateur days and i won't say ducked him but they certainly sidestepped out of Tszyu's way to go onto other big fights well away from 140lb. I rank Tszyu alongside Pryor and Chavez as the greatest 140lb champion ever. Hatton got him at the right time, pushing 36yrs, inactive and injury riddled.
Yea i know but i would still root for kostya over jcc prime vs prime. i think mosley would also beat jcc prime vs prime at 140. Mosley vs koysta sadly never happened and I know mosley is an honest guy, he knew koysta could beat him. Im a big koysta and mosley fan so i think they'll beat anyone :D seriously they would :(Quote:

Mayweather stepped right over 140 when it counted too.
Mayweather stepped over Kostya under advice from uncle Roger. He was soundly beaten off a very good Tszyu and didn't want any of that for Floyd at that stage of his career.Quote:

Tszyu was probably at his best in the late 90's. Inactivity and injuries perhaps deprived us of some potential huge fights with Oscar and Shane and even an up and coming FMJ. All 3 would be winnable fights for Tszyu as he was that good. He was a master at controlling distance. He may sometimes seem crude by lining you up with his left then taking you out with the right but a great deal of defensive skills was displayed in his post Phillips fights so he was the complete fighter IMO.

A brilliant fighter. His great power is an easy thing to admire. But he also had tremendous timing, overall skill, conditioning, and intelligence. I always thought he would have been the biggest test in Floyd's career if they fought...with an excellent chance of winning.
