He wants to fight Manny Pacquiao instead of Antonio Margarito. Manny is the P4P #1 by far but he's never fought above lightweight which is where Oscar started his career.
Fighting Manny while it will be a more competitive fight than most think makes Oscar look like a giant pussy. Hell if he even fought Cotto or Mayweather in a rematch he'd look better but Jesus he looks horrible if this fight is made!

Whoever Oscar fights it'll make money thats what Oscar is all about these days but I still like him. I look at it like this, for the last 7-8 years boxing has lost quite a bit of popularity and during that time I don't think anyone would disagree that Oscar was the games biggest name. So how would the state of boxing be now if it wasn't for him? I think that it would be a lot worse than it is. And even though I do believe it to be a mismatch I wouldn't begrudge him going out with the easier option rather than one that could make him look bad after all he has taken on people much bigger naturally than himself like Hopkins and has given so much to the sport.

It gets tiresome to read how so many people justify Oscar's career choices by talking about money. Who gives a flying one? I watch boxing to see the most competitive matches possible. I could care less how many millions "X" of "Y" boxer makes or how many PPV it sells. It's not like I'm getting any of it. So to answer Lyle's question: A big one.
He should join WWE or WWF or whateverthefook it is called now, and have a last man standing with Mayweather in there plus the Giant freak mayweather already fought. Might be cool to dig of the remains of Andre the Giant to and throw him in the mix, and Hulk Hogan could MC it...until he lost his cool, then rip off his shirt, punch his wife in the mouth and take the whole thing down! Even Max Kellerman called DLH out on his choice for farewell fight. And Margarito is being pretty vocal about it. C'mon Oscar... do the honorable thing. Fight Margarito.
ODLH has his work cut out for him either way. Pac is so fast and strong and Tony is relentless and unstopable. Either way he prob will lose - he's past it. I've always been a huge ODLH fan but his time has passed.
Oscar doesn't look like any more of a pussy for fight Pac then he did when he was dressing in fishnets and womens panties
In the interview that aired with him before the Forbes fight he said he wanted to become a billionaire. He is on a power/ego trip. So of course he want's Pac. Money speaks louder than words: don't buy the PPV.

PBF never took a chance with his career, he never unified any weight class he was in and therefore ducked at least 1 fight per division he was in....and to leave saying "I've cemented my legacy" when Margarito, Cotto, and lots of other big fights are out there at 147 is BULLCRAP.

I'd give you rep, but I need to spread some around first. Rather than cherry pick one division below you go 3 down to find an opponent. That's why I say Oscar, in many respects, is bad for the sport. Pac wouldn't consider fighting a junior middleweight under normal circumstances and Oscar doesn't deserve to fight the #1 P4P guy. Hell, Oscar doesn't deserve to fight Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito, either. So Clottey got away with fighting a guy who is already established within his own weight class? Say what you will about how much weight he gained after the weigh in, Joshua Clottey has gone by all the rules he is supposed to go by. The same as Carlos Baldomir who had to sweat down from 170+ pounds. If Oscar could get down to 140 and fight I'd respect him calling out Manny Pacquiao, but he can't even make 147 and he's challenging someone who's fought at a max of 135. Clottey can make 147 and Zab is a welter, albeit on the light side. So long as you can make the weight class of the person you're in against I say more power to you. Why are guys complaining about this fight?? mOnths & years ago.. this is just a Fantasy fight. I have seen a lot of threads(in ESB) of matching Pac vs everybody in the ATG list. This fight is one of them and now it's happening. We guys are lucky we will see it in our lifetime.
Pac is the one Challenging DLH. If DLH say no to a Challenge from a Great Little guy then he will be called a bigger Pussy. DLH a no Good 160 pounder. He can't beat Mosley at 154 & 147. He maybe Great at 130-140 but that was years ago. This is now.. he's fading, getting slower, can't pull the trigger anymore etc.

Manny will fight Oscar hard but the FACT is that Manny Pacquiao is currently fighting at the weight that Oscar started his career at and Manny began his career fighting basically at strawweight...and this is a fair fight now??? Antonio Margarito deserves the chance to fight for the torch of the division/fans admiration. He has been fighting since he was 15, he just beat the undefeated Miguel Cotto, and he has taken on all comers AND has been the sparring partner for fighters such as Oscar De la Hoya. If you're Oscar you repay Tony for his help in providing a great service to your career in preparing you for other fights.
Pacquiao is great but I would rather he at least win a title at 140 before jumping to 147 to fight Oscar.
As for Oscar's career, it has been a great one but we haven't seen the fire in him for a long time....he dismantled Mayorga but he didn't really have to do anything special to do that. He hasn't had a big win since Vargas in 2002 and even then he was being outboxed for the majority of the fight....albeit he was just getting used to the Mayweather style of fighting which makes it a BIG BIG win but it's been a looooong time since then
