I'd go Mayweather wide UD
Before watching the exciting fight between Cotto and Margarito I would have gone for Floyd but now if I had to put money on it i'd go with Margarito by TKO. I could picture Floyd completely outboxing Antonio for the first half in similar fashion to how Cotto did. However, I reckon Antonio would just keep coming forward and landing some heavy blows.
First time poster by the way!
Floyd can take this UD easily. He can put on a Baldomir type performance and the fans will hate him for it but Margarito wouldn't be able to touch him.
Cotto did his best Pretty Boy impression and looked good doing it. But he's not the really thing. Mayweather can move for 12 rounds and he wont get caught on the ropes...and if he does he can slip the punches and move away.
It wont matter how good Margarito's chin is cause Floyd wont even bother trying to test it. I dont even want to see this fight because how it would go. Floyd would be on his toes, moving beautifully and not taking a single risk for the entire fight.
I think Floyd can win a UD like some here said he can fight in circles all day for 30 rounds. I hate the mofo but I have to acknowledge his skills and stamina.
But who knows maybe Margarito can cut the ring and caught him eventually.

Mayweather can box for a full 12 rounds, doesn't lose composure when pressured and is really elusive and great defensively plus is very accurate.
Margarito's chances are very very slim.

i'd rather see Cotto Mayweather.. would be a better fight as cotto is much quicker than Margarito.. i think everyone forgets that floyd has already fought plenty of hard hitting pressure fighters.. he'd dispose of margarito DLH style..

I hate mayweather and i think he is an asshole that only care about money and i hate him for leaving the sport right now:mad: but what he can do in the ring is undeniable. He is one of the best boxers ever period! Margarito is not is the same class or even building as him. Floyd would win a wide UD. He would make him look very stupid. He was pop shot and run and make him miss the whole night. Anyone that think he would be would just cause he beat Cotto is talking out there ass.You all are just mad cause Cotto lost to him. Cotto and Floyd is light years away from each other. Cotto is a much better boxer than he was before but he nowhere near Floyds level. Mayweather disposed of many pressure fighters and Margarito would be no different. One of the very few styles i see that can be Toni is a fighter than can box, stick and move get the hell of there and do it for 12 rounds. That is exactly the type of fighter Floyd is. Cotto is not.
Mayweather would get an easy decision most probably...but I can also understand the few people who voted for a ko by Margarito(you never know ...),but I really can't even come close to understanding the people who voted for Margarito to win on points...:rolleyes:...;D...

Styles make fights and Margarito is tailor made for Floyd to embarrass. I thought Cotto had enough boxing skills to avoid the onslaught, he didn't and couldn't protect his body. Floyd moves way to fast laterally and will dance for 12 rounds and win 9 rounds to 3. An easy fight for Floyd, I'd love to see it though.
I give Floyd the edge in this one but think it would be as tough if not tougher than the 1st Castillo. Similar style, pace etc . Floyd may have to steal the fight by a point or two .

on the baldomir fight i think floyd would hav tko him or maybe knocked him out if he didn't hurt his hand by the 4th round baldomir was so tired and disscouraged i think it was obvious. a guy as slow as margo floyd might even be able to tko him because he will be able to hit margo somany times can get inside and slip block punches and counter margo is used to putting out 150 punches a round but to even hang with floyd he would have to put out about 200 maybe more and if u noticed when he faught cotto he was holding his punches because cotto wasnt in range most of the time for margos style he only wants to fight in side never useing his reach. for the record let me add margo didnt break cotto down cotto tired margo wasn't hitting cotto enough to break him cotto just didnt have what it took to move for 12 rounds. mayweather doesn't even do it he takes about 2 rounds off when he wants to take the fight to a decision
I think it depends on the size of the ring and the ref. If PBF isn't allowed to hold and it's a smallish ring, Margarito gets to him. It wouldn't look like Baldo, cause Baldo doesn't have power, or throw that many punches. Margarito does. PBF would get manhandled if it's a small ring and Kenny Bayless refs like he did with Cotto. He was telling them no holding when they touched each other.
PBF makes Margo look bad the first half, then gets worked over the second. Similar to Cotto, and Zab by Clottey. PBF will slip alot but those punches land on the arms and shoulders, and take their toll through the fight. Margarito is too big for PBF and his game plan is too break him down. If he is smart, he doesn't even throw punches at PBF's head. He aims for the center of his chest, and at his shoulders when throwing head shots. Body is right at the belt line. When PBF tries to hold he leans on him and pushes him against the ropes.
If it's a large ring, and the ref lets PBF hold all bets are off.
i think we can call this wishfull thinking. margo is so slow pbf would be 10 steps ahead of him plus we need to add pbf is a thinker in the ring setting up his opp to do what he wants them to do i dont think pbf will even need to hold margo and his stamina is much much greater then cottos so 12 rounds of sticking and moving no problemQuote:

Magarito throws so many punches but Floyd would halve his punch out by using his footwork and holding when necessary Expect Floyd by decision.
It depends on which Mayweather shows up. If he uses his feet, he will beat Margarito.
If he lays against the ropes a lot like he did with ODLH or Hatton, he could lose a decision because he will not deter Margarito and Margarito will win the fight on activity alone, even if 95% of his punches are blocked and parried.
Floyd is not stupid though and unless he comes into the fight rusty, I could not bet against him.
